BARKER -- Lt. Col. Warren H. Barker, USMC, (Retired) died peacefully at his home in Torrance, CA on January 25, 2008 at the age of 80. Warren was a dedicated and decorated Marine as well as a beloved brother, father, and grandfather. Warren served our country in the Marine Corps for more than 20 years. After retiring in 1972, he began his second career as the Senior Military Instructor for 15 years at Rio Grande High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 1988, he relocated to California to be close to his family and was elected to the Board of Governors at El Camino Country Club in Oceanside, CA, where he enjoyed being a member of "The Legends" Golf group with his many friends. He is survived by his son, Austin Barker; daughter, Greta Mendes and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Ashley and Jordan Johnson, Stacy and Michael Mendes, Jr.. Memorial Services will be held at Riverside National Cemetery, February 25, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks any memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

BAZAN -- Abel William Bazan, age 65 went to be with the Lord February 22, 2008 Abie is survived by his loving wife Debbie Bazan, son Abel Bazan Jr. and girlfriend Judy Chavez, daughters Maria Bazan, Patricia Garcia-Bazan and husband Carlos, Debra Bazan-Lopez and husband Freddie Lopez; Stepchildren, Carlos Hernandez and wife Daisy, Stephanie Hernandez and husband Steve Baca and Vanessa Hernandez; Brothers John Bazan, George Bazan and wife Della, Danny Bazan and wife Maryann; Sister Gloria Garduno and husband Eloy; Thirteen grandchildren and one great grandson as well as many other family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father Emilio "Shorty" Bazan, mother Ruby Bazan; and sister Rosie Bazan. Abie retired from the Albuquerque Veterans Hospital and was proud to serve in the US Air Force. He also loved collecting Coke memorabilia. A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO THE AMBERCARE NURSES AND STAFF. ABIE LOVED YOU AS WE KNOW YOU LOVED HIM. A Rosary will take place at Sacred Heart Church 412 Stover SW, Tuesday February 26 at 7:00pm. BENNETT -- Elizabeth Bennet, formerly of East Chicago, Indiana, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at Chesapeake General Hospital in Chesapeake, VA. Survived by 12 children; Jerry (Donna) Bennett of Harbor City, California; James Bennett and Frances B. Beverly of East Chicago, IN; Dolores (Reuben) El and Carolyn (Solomon) Stewart of Milwaukee, WI; W. Charles Bennett and Patricia Taylor of Albuquerque, NM; Gladys Bennett of Chesapeake, VA,; Eddie Bennett of Robinson, IL; Dwight (Shonkia) Bennett and Carl (Janet) Bennett of Atlanta, GA; Shiloh Bennett of Huber Heights, OH; 27 grandchildren, 16 great-grand children; and one brother, Sam Hunt, of Auburn, AL. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 1:00 p. m. at the Antioch Baptist Church, 3902-06 Alexander Avenue, East Chicago, Indiana with Bishop David C. Cooper of Albuquerque, New Mexico officiating. Internment will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park, Hobart, IN. The Visitation will be held on Friday, February 29, 2008 at the Antioch Baptist Church from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. A special Memorial Service will be held at the New Hope Baptist Church, at the corner of Indian School and Pennsylvania NE in Albuquerque on Sunday evening, March 2, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. Mrs. Bennett was always actively involved in serving her community. In 1979, she was recognized as one of Lake County, Indiana's Most Valuable Women for providing over 10 years of dedicated service to the Purdue University Cooperative Extension Program. She has volunteered for over 30 years with the United Way and has received numerous community service and civic awards. Other community involvement includes: Project Uplift of the Urban League of Northwest Indiana; Leader of a 4-H club in East Chicago; Director of an East Chicago Campfire Boys and Girls Program; Health Fair New Mexico; 10 years with "Prime Time," a Bernalillo County, New Mexico Organization. Mrs. Bennett moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1985 and was an active member of the Mission; Bible class and Sunday school; and a faithful visitor of the Church's sick and shut-in members at New Hope Baptist Church. She served her community through her active membership in the National Council of Negro Women. She was honored as the Albuquerque Journal's Mother of the Year in 2006 on Mothers Day. Eileen was born September 2, 1921 to Francis and Eileen Dollard McKernan in Dearborn, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman G. Benton; and son, Glenn G. Benton. CHAVEZ -- Roberto Chavez "Robert" passed away Monday, February 11, 2008 surrounded by his loving family. CHESSHIR -- Homer Chesshir was born May 23, 1931. He passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2008 in Albuquerque. Homer was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Chesshir; his parents, Kannie and Harmon Chesshir; and his brother, Harmon Chesshir. He is survived by his children, Kathy Warren and husband Buzzy of Bernalillo, NM; Tommy Chesshir and wife Sandy of Pilot Rock, OR; Janie Mealand of Roswell, NM; and Cynthia "Kitty" Hysell of Bernalillo, NM; his brother, Jimmy Chesshir of Grants, NM; sisters, Mildred Jo Cooper of Grants, NM, Minnie Hoisington of Grants, NM and Mary Harris of Rio Rancho, NM; fifteen grandchildren; 7 1/2 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. In the later years of his life, one of Homer's greatest accomplishments was establishing and helping to operate the Food Bank at the First Baptist Church in Bernalillo. CHILDERS -- KEITH "COWBOY" Graveside Services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2008 at Memory Lawn Memorial Park, who passed away February 22, 2008, in Roswell. Dr. Geary Miller of Tabernacle Baptist Church will conduct the Service. Cowboy was born August 16, 1916 in Floyd Co, Texas to Arvin and Ruby Childers. Both parents have preceded him in death; as well as a daughter, Barbara Jean Davis. He married Marie Sims on June 8, 1934 in Pecos, New Mexico. She also has preceded him in death. Survivors include sons; Charles Keith Childers and his wife, Wynnora, of Roswell, Gary Michael Childers and his wife, Elda, of Santa Fe, New Mexico; brothers, Virgil "Jinx" Childers of Tor C, NM, Edra Childers of Roswell, and Johnnie Childers of Roswell; sisters, Claudia "baby doll" York of Los Alamos and Bonnie French of Roswell; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. CLARK -- Rev. Dr. Kenneth R. Clark, B.A., M.A., S.T.M., Ed.D., died peacefully at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico February 21, 2008. His ministry in the Episcopal Church included missions and churches throughout Texas and New Mexico from 1961 through 1992 when he retired as interim Dean of St. John's Episcopal Cathedral, Albuquerque. In retirement he assisted parishes throughout the Diocese of the Rio Grande and as Executive Director of St. Martin's Hospitality Center, serving the homeless in Albuquerque. He pioneered youth group mission programs in Mexico and developed the St. John's Curriculum which became a model for others. He authored Kerygma - Discovering the Bible, an ecumenical curriculum used in churches nationwide. Dr. Clark's scholarly contributions included appointments as Adjunct Professor at San Francisco Theological Seminary, Instructor at the College of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Visiting Professor at General Theological Seminary, New York. Other publications include Making Sense of the Episcopal Church, a modern history of the church, and co-author of The Millennium Handbook, A guide to Messiahs, Prophets & the End of Time, a treatise on epochal events, and numerous scholarly articles in a wide range of publications. Dr. Clark was recognized for his life's work in 1998 by the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest, Austin, Texas as recipient of its annual Hal Perry Distinguished Graduate Award. He is survived in this life by his wife of 55 years; three children; three grandchildren; his sister and countless friends and colleagues around the world. His Memorial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 28, 2008 at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral, 318 Silver SW, Albuquerque. DOLL -- Margaret "Peggy" Doll, age 61, of Albuquerque, passed away and is now with the Lord, Saturday, February 16, 2008. Peggy was born in Silver City, NM to Bill and Peggy Colby. She graduated from Western NM University. Peggy was an art teacher at Sunset Mesa Schools where she was affectionately adored by her students and co-workers. Previously, she had been a surgical assistant for more than 16 years. Peggy made everyone who knew her feel special and loved and was always mindful of other's needs. DULLEA -- Dolores Jean Dullea passed away Thursday, February 21, 2008. She waged a valiant battle to be self-sufficient and independent after suffering multiple physical handicaps and was an inspiration to all who knew her and loved her. Jean was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois by her parents Walter and Irene Scheffler. She married and raised six children before moving to Albuquerque in 1984, where she became a successful real estate broker. She was preceded in death by her son James Dullea. Survivors are her daughter Lori Greissinger, her husband Gary, grandsons Kurt (Christine) and Erik (Jodi), great grandchildren Trevor, Tacy, Alison, Evan and Caden of Mundelein, Illinois; son John Dullea, his wife Sherri, granddaughters Nicole and Jessica and great grandson Gabe of Huntsville, Alabama; her daughter, Christine Pfeifer, grandchildren Glen (Cindy), Annamarie and Alex of Bloomingdale, Illinois; her daughter, Lisa Elliott and her husband Michael, granddaughters Jennifer and Melissa of Albuquerque, her son, Kevin Dullea and canine companion, Ruby, of Albuquerque, and her faithful feline companion Geronimo. DURAN -- Pauline V Duran, 79, went home to be with the Lord February 20, 2008. She was born May 24, 1928, in El Valle, New Mexico and was a resident of Albuquerque for the last 55 years. Along with her husband and children, she was a member of the Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. She loved to spend as much time with her family as possible. In addition to raising her family, Pauline worked at various restaurants throughout Albuquerque. She also briefly opened and ran Pauline's Gift and Thrift Shop. She was a daily patron of Hometown Buffet, where she visited with many friends and all of the staff, all whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Juan J. Duran; six children, all of the Albuquerque area, Mike (Birgit) Duran, Ray (Dolores) Duran, Dianne (Jim) Goodnight, Paul (Carol) Duran, Susan (Tom) Gallegos, John (Lorraine) Duran; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters; and one brother. The family of Pauline would like to thank everyone for the support and love they gave her over the many years. ENCINIAS -- LOUIS Louis A. Encinias, 55, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on February 19, 2008, and is now in Heaven with Our Lord. Louis is survived by his brother, Leroy Encinias of Clovis, NM; four sisters, Helen Romero and husband, Joaquin of Clovis, NM, Eva Mondragon and husband, Eloy of Pastura, NM, Alice Perri of Denver, Co., Angie B. Garcia and husband, Ray of Clovis, NM; his favorite nieces, Louisa and Rachel; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Reyes and Louisa Encinias; and a brother, Eddie Encinias. Louis was a member of the Catholic Church, a Veteran of the United States Army, a member of the American Legion Post #69 and he had a life long love of playing the drums and played in many different groups through out New Mexico, Colorado and California. Owen gathered his strength from the love of his life, Yolanda, whom he referred to as his angel. Owen and Yolanda were inseparable from the moment they met, July 1985. Eddie was preceded in death by his father and mother, Antonio and Premia Gallegos; wife Rosalie; sister, Clara; brothers, Nick, Nestor, and Emilliano. He is survived by his son, Eddie Jr. and wife Monica; two grandchildren, Eddie III and Melanie; sister Hilda and husband Jimmy; sister Flora; brother, Joe Gallegos; and many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. Eddie was known to be a dedicated and hard working man; her retired from Cutter Flying Service after 44 years of service; he went on to work for A.P.S. as a custodian at L.B.J. Middle School where he retired after five years of service. He then moved on to Service Master for an additional year of employment. Eddie enjoyed spending his weekends with his life-long friends Luz Garcia, Bobby Garcia, Juan Baca, Moises, and many other friends. He also enjoyed going fishing, gambling at local casinos, attending his grandkids sporting and school events and activities. Eddie will be dearly remembered and missed by his family and all who know and loved him. GATELEY -- William R. (Bill) Gateley, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at the age of 86. Born in Bay Shore, L.I., N.Y., he moved to Albuquerque in 1935. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service after thirty -one years where he was the Maintenance Manger for the Postal fleet. His Postal service included the Albuquerque Office, Denver Regional Office, the Post Office Department in Washington, D.C., and the National Maintenance Technical Support Center in Norman, OK. Bill was nationally known in the B.P.O. Elks where he served as an officer in the Englewood, CO, Lodge, Exalted Ruler of Albuquerque Lodge, Secretary of the New Mexico Elks Association, Special Representative of the Grand Exalted Ruler and District Deputy to the Grand Exalted Ruler. He mostly enjoyed his years of work with the Albuquerque Elks Clowns where he was known in many States as "NO-NO" and his invisible dog "DONDE". He served in the 111th Cavalry, 200th CAC, and 111th AAA BDE of the New Mexico National Guard and retired as Brigadier General from the New Mexico State Guard. Bill served as Parade Marshall for Albuquerque's 250th Anniversary where he put together Albuquerque's first truly mammoth parade spectacle. He was also active in the American Legion Drum and Bugle Corps, Toastmasters, PTA, Postal Supervisors, and other civic endeavors. He was Assistant Director to the District Court Teenage Traffic School for three years. A graduate of Albuquerque High School, he attended UNM and held an associate degree from Pennsylvania State University. He was guest instructor and the University of Oklahoma College Continuing Education. He is survived by his daughter Adrienne Smalling and husband Jamie of Glencoe, NM; sons William A. and wife Kathy of Albuquerque; and Darrel C. and wife Jane of Seattle, WA; and seven grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. HAMBY -- Richard W. Hamby, 69, of Los Lunas, New Mexico, said Happy Trails for the last time on February 15, 2008. He was born July 16, 1938, in San Marcos, Texas; grew up in San Angelo, Texas; and graduated with an Agronomy Degree from Texas Tech University. He started his agriculture career with the Bureau of Land Management in Laredo, Texas, and then relocated to Socorro, New Mexico, as a range specialist. After seven years with the BLM, Richard then turned to real estate, specializing in ranches and land. He devoted his time as a licensed real estate agent seeking and exploring the vast open spaces of New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, and Arizona and finding perfect properties for his clients. He also founded a hat retainer business called Hatsoff, Inc. with his daughter Perri in 1990. Richard loved his family, his country, the outdoors, and anything "cowboy." Richard will be deeply missed by all who encountered him, not only for his dry wit and soft-spoken humor, but also for his ability to cook up the tastiest smoked brisket this side of the Mississippi. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Pam Rishel, of Los Lunas; a son, Clint Hamby, and wife, Tonya, granddaughters Taylor and Caitlyne of Alpine, Texas; a daughter, Perri Jennings and husband, Randy, of McAlister, New Mexico; and best friend Bob Calkins and wife, Lavon, of Farmington, New Mexico. HAYS -- Michael J. Hays, 64, a resident of Chama, NM, died Tuesday, February 19, 2008 in an accident at the Brazos Canyon Fire Station. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ramona Hays; children, Lara Hays and husband, Edwin Carmack, of Wenatchee, WA, and Heather Hays-King and husband, Aaron King, of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Aidan, Avery, and Gavin King, and Nathan Carmack; sister, Patricia Wilson and husband, Jim, of Yukon, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Michael was born in Oklahoma City, OK on August 15, 1943 to C. Powell and Frances Hays. He graduated from Putnam City Schools in Bethany, OK. Michael entered the United States Navy where he served honorably for 21 years. He worked as a general building contractor in Albuquerque and Chama for twenty years. For the last 5 years, he was Fire Chief at the Brazos Canyon Volunteer Fire Department and was very instrumental in the formation of that station. Michael served as an active EMT/B with La Clinica del Pueblo in Tierra Amarilla. He was an active hobbyist in leatherworking, genealogy, quilting, geology, and model trains. Michael had a spirit to serve and had a very strong work ethic. He was a caring husband, father, and grandfather, having a loving eye for his family. Michael will be missed by all who knew him. JENNINGS -- Thelma G. (Lester) Jennings passed away peacefully on February 12, 2008, at the age of 89. She was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. Her husband and children came first in her life and heart but she also enjoyed her flower gardens and crafting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, of 65 years; her parents; a sister and six brothers; a great-granddaughter; and two great-great-grandchildren. Thelma and Walter were both born and raised in New York State, but left in 1952 and took up permanent residence in Albuquerque. After retirement she and Walter took up RV-ing and wintered in Arizona for many years. MCDONOUGH -- Corrilea Baldwin McDonough, age 92, passed away on February 21, 2008 following a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, John A. (Jack) McDonough, who was a general superintendent with the former Fred Harvey Co. Prior to her death, Mrs. McDonough served in numerous civic and community activities, including March of Dimes, Junior League, United Way and golfing associations. Her professional career included secretary to the president of New Mexico Tech, Socorro and a number of years with the savings and loan associations in Albuquerque. Corrilea also wrote articles for The Albuquerque Tribune social pages. Mrs. McDonough is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Sandy McDonough; two grandsons, David and Bryan; daughter-in-law, Pam McDonough; great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Dani Young and Parker McDonough, all of Houston; along with several nieces and nephews and good friend, Andy Livingston. The family wishes to thank MaryAnn Karimi as Corriela's caregiver and the wonderful support of Presbyterian Hospice. Special thanks to her caring friend, Andy Livingston, he was her special friend sent from God, especially in the last eight months of Corrilea's life. Cremation has taken place. Graveside services were held on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at Fairview Memorial Cemetery, 700 Yale Blvd SE. Her cremains were interred beside her husband.

MCINTOSH -- Seldon C. McIntosh was born January 21, 1937 in Powell County, Kentucky. He passed away at his home, Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at the age of 71. Seldon was a retired Viet Nam Veteran who honorably served his country for 26 years as a Medic with the United States Air Force. He was an accomplished musician and performer. Seldon was preceded in death by his parents, and he is survived by his sons, Michael, Dwayne and Seldon; daughter-in-law, Valerie; four grandsons, Timothy, Sean, Matthew and Connor; two brothers; one sister; other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. MCKAY -- Horace F. McKay, Jr., passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2008. He was born June 4, 1920 in Fayetteville, Tennessee to Alda McKay and Horace McKay. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elmyra Kathleen McKay; and daughter, Pamela Kathleen McKay Mayhew. Mr. McKay is survived by his grandchildren, Chace Mayhew and his wife, Jennifer, their daughters Sydney and Jordan; Krystina Kathleen Mayhew and her husband, Jack Bloom; Mason Mayhew and wife, Melanie, and their daughters, Madison and Marlee; and his son-in-law Bill Mayhew and wife, Amy. Mr. McKay was very active in the development of Albuquerque in real estate and was a pioneer in the oil and gas industry in New Mexico. His philanthropic endeavors included various charitable organizations in New Mexico. He served on the board of directors of Bataan Memorial Methodist Hospital which became Lovelace Hospital and also on the board of directors of the Lovelace Foundation for Medical Education and Research which is now Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute. He also served on the board of American Bank of Commerce. He was loved and respected by all. MCQUINN -- Chester A. (Chet-Chad) McQuinn was born October 3, 1921 in Seattle, WA to Bertha Heglen and Floyd McQuinn. He was also preceded in death by his other fathers whom he loved. Other loved fathers were Garnet D. Higginbotham and Marion C. Farmer. Chet graduated from Kirtland High School in Kirtland, WA in 1939 and worked in the San Francisco Bay area, Puget Sound Navy Yard in Bremerton, WA and served as a Yeoman First Class in the Navy during World War II. He attended Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA and graduated with honors from the University of Idaho in Moscow in 1949. Mr. McQuinn married Lucille in Mullan, ID in 1943. She died four days short of celebrating their 50th anniversary. They lived for 40 years in Butte, MT. He was also married to Arcida for 10 years, and lived in Los Lunas, NM. She passed away last fall. He is survived by Karen Wemple, her children, Kerri, Jaime and Kevin, and her grandchildren, Kharissa, Taylor and Tyson who live in Lethbridge, Aberta; Colleen and Fritz Wiebelhaus and their son, Max live in Albuquerque, NM; surviving sister, Joy Hill, Marysville, WA and is pre-deceased by his brother, Garnet B. Higginbotham; sisters, Dorothy Melker, Barbara Leonard, and Johannah Grigsby. In 1977, he retired from the Internal Revenue Service as the District Director's Agent after 31 years of U.S. Government Services. He received the Albert Gallatin award. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Butte where he served on the Vestry and was Treasurer. He was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Los Lunas, NM. He was a Life Member of Butte Lodge No. 240 BPO Elks where he was past Exalted Ruler and Past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler Montana South. He was selected as Elk of the Year in Butte, MT and Belen, NM (Elks Lodge No. 2499). He was a member of the Retired Federal Employees, the American Legion, Summit Valley Lodge No. 123, the Scottish Rite Bodies and Bagdad Temple of the Shrine in Butte, MT. He also enjoyed membership in the alumni for his high school and University. After a short illness, he passed away on Monday, February 18, 2008. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Lynch. He is survived by his wife, Mary Tarr Montoya. MUELLER -- Robert Charles Mueller, age 86, passed away on February 20, 2008 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born on October 11, 1921 in Newport, KY to Francis and Anna Mueller. Bob served his country proudly in WWII for the United States Army. He graduated from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH. He married Bertha MacDonald in 1949. Worked at Sandia National Labs for 29 years and then retired from Sandia Labs in 1980. Bob is survived by his children; two sons, Stephen C. Mueller of Albuquerque, NM. and Michael R. O'DONNELL -- Shirley M. age 72, of Albuquerque, NM passed away Saturday, February 23, 2008, at her residence following a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born on March 18, 1935, in Butler County, PA to Russell and Helen Moore. She married Charles W. O'Donnell on September 13, 1955 in Cumberland, Maryland. Mrs. O'Donnell was a member of Compassionate Friends of Albuquerque as well as a participant in The Infinite Way for several years. Surviving are her husband of 52 years Charles Sr.; her son, Charles O'Donnell Jr. and his partner Shirley Hall of Las Cruces, NM; her grandchildren, Charles III (Barbara), Gerald, Kevin, Justin, and Amy O'Donnell; her seven great grandchildren, Caroline, Caitlin, Charles IV, Christopher O'Donnell, Davina, Emily and Sophie O'Donnell; sisters, Dolores Shumaker of Fairview, PA, Nancy Sequete and husband, Dick, of Butler, PA; brother, Russell Moore and his wife, Charlotte Butler, of Butler, PA; and several nieces and nephews. He served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1978 with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. In July of 1978 they moved to Klamath Falls and he began his Dermatology practice. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a member and former National president of the Flying Physicians Association, a member and former president of the Oregon Dermatologic Society, a member and former president of Klamath Hospice, Inc., a trustee of the Oregon Medical Association and he was a member of the Klamath County Rotary Club, American Academy of Dermatology, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the Oregon Pilots Association and he was on the teaching staff for Oregon Health Sciences University. He loved his grandchildren, planes, trains and hot air balloons. He is survived by his wife Emily of Klamath Falls and his children; Nathan Otoski and his wife Brynn of Los Angeles, CA., Matthew Otoski of Los Angeles, CA. and Shannon Lee and her husband Mike of Klamath Falls. PECK -- RALPH 1912 - 2008 Ralph B. Peck, Professor Emeritus of Foundation Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, died of congestive heart failure on February 18, 2008, at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born in Winnipeg, Canada, to his American parents, Orwin K and Ethel Huyck Peck on June 23, 1912. Ralph Peck earned a Civil Engineering Degree in 1934 and Doctor of Civil Engineering Degree in 1937, both from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. In 1938-39 he attended the Soil Mechanics course at Harvard University and was a laboratory assistant to Arthur Casagrande. From 1939 to 1942 Peck was an assistant subway engineer for the City of Chicago, representing Karl Terzaghi, who was a consultant on the Chicago Subway Project. He joined the University of Illinois in 1942, and was a Professor of Foundation Engineering from 1948 to 1974. Since 1974, Professor Peck was a Professor Emeritus at the University of Illinois, and a consultant in geotechnical engineering. In 1948, together with Karl Terzaghi, Ralph Peck co-authored the most influential text book in geotechnical engineering, Soil Mechanics in Engineering Practice. In 1953 with Walt Hanson and Tom Thornburn, Ralph Peck co-authored the widely used text book Foundation Engineering. In 1942, Dr. Peck joined the Civil Engineering Department of the University of Illinois, where he remained as a teacher and mentor until his retirement as Professor Emeritus in 1974. After moving to Albuquerque, Dr. Peck continued his active consulting practice which included jobs in forty-four states in the USA and twenty-eight countries on five continents. His more than one thousand consulting projects include: the rapid transit systems in Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington; the Alaskan Pipeline System; the James Bay Project in Quebec; and the Dead Sea dikes. He authored over 250 technical publications, and served as the President of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering from 1969 to 1973. In 1974, he was awarded the National Medal of Science by President Ford. A few of his many honors include the Norman Medal, The Wellington Prize, and the Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award in Education from the American Society of Engineers. His last project was the Rion-Antirion Bridge in Greece. It received the ASCE's OPAL Outstanding Civil Engineering Award for 2005 and is the only project outside the United States to be so honored. Ralph Peck married Marjorie E. Truby on June 14, 1937. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Peck (Allen) Young; and son and daughter-in-law, James (Laurie) Peck; and grandchildren, Michael Young and Maia Peck. PERRY -- Paul Joseph "PJ" Perry, 45, a resident of Rio Rancho, NM passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2008. PJ was born June 14, 1962 the son of Joseph M. and Pauline E. Perry in Winchester, Massachusetts. He served in the United States Marine Corp and spent most of his life in Rio Rancho and Albuquerque. PJ loved the outdoors, enjoyed sports, but his pride and joy was spending time with his children. He worked as a development coordinator before his death. PJ is survived by a son, Seth Michael; daughter Sierra Mae; former wife, Michelle Perry; sister, Renee' Burnam and husband, Dennis of Amarillo, Texas; and three nephews Dustin, Hunter and Lance Burnam, of Amarillo, TX. SALYER -- Helen Salyer passed away after a life filled with adventure and accomplishment on February 5, 2008. Born on September 26, 1917 in Mountainburg, Arkansas, Helen was the 10th child of John Preston and Ora Mae Salyer. After completing her Bachelor's degree at the University of Arkansas, she devoted herself to a career as an elementary school teacher, having taught briefly in Arkansas and then in Albuquerque, New Mexico beginning in 1944. While in Albuquerque, she taught at University Heights Grade school as well as Emerson and Duranes Elementary schools. Furthering her education, Helen went on to earn her Master's of Arts in Library Science at the University of New Mexico in 1965 on the same day as her niece, Elissa - an accomplishment they shared with many throughout the years. Her career was spent as an educator and librarian, but her passion was in travel and exploring New Mexico and the far reaches of the globe with friends and family. Her travels included hiking to the top of Pedernal Peak, exploring ice caves, and visiting more than 120 countries, the last of which was Iceland only a few years ago. Combining her passion for travel and education, she shared stories of her travels with all of her more than 1200 students. She continued this trend during retirement as a docent at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center and the Museum of Albuquerque. A supporter of social justice throughout the world, Helen enriched the lives of all that had the pleasure of knowing her, including three generations of her extended family. Helen is lovingly survived by her nieces; Elissa L. Allen and her husband ;Charles Manley, and Carol L. LaFaver, all of Santa Fe, New Mexico; her grand-nieces and grand-nephews, Marisa Allen, her husband ,Joe Schwartz, and their son, Miles; Paul Allen, his wife, Shannon, and their daughter Morgan, all of Santa Fe; Amy Ratliff and her husband, Wayne, of Lompoc, California; and Jeremy LaFaver of Albuquerque. Being one of ten children, there are countless other nieces, nephews, friends, and family that also survive Helen Salyer. Helen's family would like to thank the home health aides and staff at Manzano del Sol for their care and concern during the last of Helen's many years. In lieu of a service and flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Helen's honor to the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, 2401 12th St. NW Albuquerque, NM 87104.

SCULLY -- PEGGY Peggy fought a seven-year battle with lymphoma and went home to be with the Lord on February 21, 2008. She was almost 54. Cancer didn't defeat Peggy, but drew her to know her Lord and Christ in a very personal and intimate way. She became a testimony to all who knew her and she never lost her positive, feisty sense of humor. She kept us laughing. Peg never felt sorry for herself and was a beacon of light to all of us who knew her. Peggy was the wife of Kevin Scully and one of four children from Bill and Eleanor Hedges of Hampton, New Jersey (Peggy, David, Carol, and Don). Kevin was the love of her life, true companion, and faithful caregiver. In keeping with Peggy's grateful heart to God and those around her, we would like to express our warmest appreciation and thanks to Dr. Rabinowitz and the Oncology staff at Lovelace; to Patt for giving her some extra quality of life, and for the loving care and support by the staff at Ambercare Hospice, with a special thanks to Jodi, Charlotte, Dori, Nikki, and Karen.

SERRANO -- RAMON Mr. Ramon R. Serrano, 77, a resident of Albuquerque passed away peacefully at home on February 21, 2008, with his loving family by his side and is now in Heaven with Our Lord. Mr. Serrano is the beloved husband to Mrs. Lydia Serrano, married for 54 years. Mr. Serrano is also survived by his loving children, Nelson Serrano; Benita Flores and husband, Richard; Lolita Colson and husband, Anthony; Tony Serrano and wife, Sandra; Orlando Serrano and wife, Vicky; Chris Serrano and Karen Serrano-Baca; his brother, Abran Serrano and wife, Georgia; fourteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Serrano was a member of the Catholic Church, a Veteran of the United States Army Serving in the Korean Conflict, a member of V.F.W. Post #6216 and Post 13. Visitation for Mr. Serrano will be Monday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00p.m. Final visitation will be Tuesday morning from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. A Committal Service will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Pallbearers will be Richard Flores, Angelo Serrano, Carlos Colson, Johnny Baca, Abelino Serrano and Rick Serrano. Oscar lived in Madrid, Spain, Asmara, Ethiopha (Erithia), Bangkok, Tailand and loved to vacation Addis Ababa, Ethiopha, Madrid Spain, Cario Egypt and Amman, Jordan. Oscar was a 32nd degree Mason and a Licensed Real Estate Broker. Visitation for Oscar will be Monday, February 25, 2007, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Funeral Service to be held at 10:00 a.m. A Committal Service at the Santa Fe National Cemetery will follow at 1:00 p.m. honors by the United States Army. TIMMS -- Kim Timms passed away after a short illness at his home in Surprise, AZ. He was 61 years of age. He was born in Albuquerque September 3, 1946. He graduated from Manzano High School and was employed by the BNSF railroad for 40 years. He is survived by his children; Kimmer Duran, Albuquerque,NM, David Timms, Lancaster, CA, Carrie Belle, El Paso, TX, Jon Timms Lancaster, CA; and his step-children, Steve Richards, Kingman, AZ and Keith Richards, Surprise, AZ.
