Obituary for MCKAY

Horace F. McKay, Jr., passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2008. He was born June 4, 1920 in Fayetteville, Tennessee to Alda McKay and Horace McKay. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elmyra Kathleen McKay; and daughter, Pamela Kathleen McKay Mayhew. Mr. McKay is survived by his grandchildren, Chace Mayhew and his wife, Jennifer, their daughters Sydney and Jordan; Krystina Kathleen Mayhew and her husband, Jack Bloom; Mason Mayhew and wife, Melanie, and their daughters, Madison and Marlee; and his son-in-law Bill Mayhew and wife, Amy. Mr. McKay was very active in the development of Albuquerque in real estate and was a pioneer in the oil and gas industry in New Mexico. His philanthropic endeavors included various charitable organizations in New Mexico. He served on the board of directors of Bataan Memorial Methodist Hospital which became Lovelace Hospital and also on the board of directors of the Lovelace Foundation for Medical Education and Research which is now Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute. He also served on the board of American Bank of Commerce. He was loved and respected by all. Visitation will be Monday, February 25, 2008, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd., NE. Funeral service will be Tuesday, February 26, 2008, 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park.
