Lt. Col. Warren H. Barker, USMC, (Retired) died peacefully at his home in Torrance, CA on January 25, 2008 at the age of 80. Warren was a dedicated and decorated Marine as well as a beloved brother, father, and grandfather. Warren served our country in the Marine Corps for more than 20 years. After retiring in 1972, he began his second career as the Senior Military Instructor for 15 years at Rio Grande High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 1988, he relocated to California to be close to his family and was elected to the Board of Governors at El Camino Country Club in Oceanside, CA, where he enjoyed being a member of "The Legends" Golf group with his many friends. He is survived by his son, Austin Barker; daughter, Greta Mendes and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Ashley and Jordan Johnson, Stacy and Michael Mendes, Jr.. Memorial Services will be held at Riverside National Cemetery, February 25, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks any memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
