Obituary for CLARK

Rev. Dr. Kenneth R. Clark, B.A., M.A., S.T.M., Ed.D., died peacefully at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico February 21, 2008. His ministry in the Episcopal Church included missions and churches throughout Texas and New Mexico from 1961 through 1992 when he retired as interim Dean of St. John's Episcopal Cathedral, Albuquerque. In retirement he assisted parishes throughout the Diocese of the Rio Grande and as Executive Director of St. Martin's Hospitality Center, serving the homeless in Albuquerque. He pioneered youth group mission programs in Mexico and developed the St. John's Curriculum which became a model for others. He authored Kerygma - Discovering the Bible, an ecumenical curriculum used in churches nationwide. Dr. Clark's scholarly contributions included appointments as Adjunct Professor at San Francisco Theological Seminary, Instructor at the College of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Visiting Professor at General Theological Seminary, New York. Other publications include Making Sense of the Episcopal Church, a modern history of the church, and co-author of The Millennium Handbook, A guide to Messiahs, Prophets & the End of Time, a treatise on epochal events, and numerous scholarly articles in a wide range of publications. Dr. Clark was recognized for his life's work in 1998 by the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest, Austin, Texas as recipient of its annual Hal Perry Distinguished Graduate Award. He is survived in this life by his wife of 55 years; three children; three grandchildren; his sister and countless friends and colleagues around the world. His Memorial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 28, 2008 at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral, 318 Silver SW, Albuquerque.
