BEATY -- Jack Beaty of Albuquerque died on Wednesday, March 15, 2006. He was born on July 19, 1917 in Huntington, AR. Jack's father passed away when he was a young boy, and he and his mother, Maggie moved to Albuquerque when Jack was 17 years old. Jack never knew a stranger and was kind to everyone he met. He will always be remembered for his love of sports, particularly football. He attended every Super Bowl Game until recently, when his health began to deteriorate. He enjoyed playing golf and cards with his very good friends at the Albuquerque Country Club. He was a lifetime Mason and Shriner, supported many charitable organizations and anonymously performed many kind deeds. Jack also was very fond of animals, particularly his two cats, Lulu and Corkie, whom he referred to as "my babies" or "my kids." Jack was also a very successful businessman. At a young age, he founded Rocky Mountain Wholesale, a candy, sundries, and tobacco business, as well as brokerage houses carrying the first frozen foods in New Mexico. The companies supplied many retail stores throughout the state. Jack's businesses allowed him to meet many people. While in the wholesale business, Jack became interested and very involved in Democratic politics. While he never ran for public office, he served as Bernalillo County Democratic Chairman as well as New Mexico State Democratic Chairman. As State Chairman, Jack became close personal friends with then-Senator John F. Kennedy and his brothers, Robert F. Kennedy and Edward (Ted) Kennedy. When Kennedy ran for President in 1960, Jack served as Western States Coordinator for the campaign. Senator Kennedy captured every state which Jack oversaw during the campaign. President Kennedy subsequently appointed Jack in 1960 to serve on the Renegotiation Board. Jack sold his New Mexico businesses at that time to move to Washington, D.C., to work on President Kennedy's administration. Jack served distinguishably on the Board. After the death of President Kennedy, President Lyndon Johnson requested that Jack remain on the Board. When President Johnson's term ended, Jack decided to remain in Washington, D.C., where he founded Jack Beaty and Associates, a public relations firm. Jack successfully represented the tobacco and candy industries for many years. He also established candy and tobacco state associations in 48 states. Jack also managed Western Minerals and Oil, an oil and gas company which he and his partner, Harry Snodgrass, founded in the early 1960s. Jack was involved as general partner of that business until his retirement. While in Washington, DC, Jack met the former Rose Marie Martinez of Santa Fe, who was then personal assistant to Senator Joseph M. Montoya. They married in September of 1973 and continued to live in Washington until their return to New Mexico in 1980. He was always a doting and devoted husband. Jack was often helpful to many New Mexicans, and he and Rose Marie often opened their doors to fellow New Mexicans who either wanted to work or attend school in Washington, DC. Jack was dedicated to educating the youth of New Mexico. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Rose Marie; his daughter, Patty Patterson, her husband, Joe, and three grandsons, Jack, Joe, and Jim, of whom he was very proud. Jack is also survived by his very close and personal friends, D. McCall, wife, Kyla, and their children, Chad, Shea, Chase, and Chelsea, whom Jack loved like his own. Another personal friend, Kurt Sommer, his attorney and business associate, was also very close to Jack. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Irene Quintana, her husband, Louie; his brothers-in-law, Ben G. Martinez and wife, Dolores, and William M. Martinez and wife, Alicia; as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly and who in turn adored their Uncle Jack. Rose Marie expresses deep appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff at Montebello Health Care, who tenderly cared for Jack, enjoyed his sense of humor, and often commented on his gentlemanly and helpful ways. A Celebration of Jack's life will be held at the Albuquerque Country Club on Saturday, April 1, 2006 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Jack's friends and acquaintances are invited to share their memories of him. Because of Jack's dedication to educating the youth of New Mexico, in his memory and in lieu of flowers, please make contributions to a university or charity of your choice in memory.

CASTILLO -- Randy Castillo December 18, 1950 - March 26, 2002 Dear Son, brother, and friend. It's been 4 years now that you left this earth and in a lot of ways it feels like you left us today. They say time heals all wounds and yet we are wondering how much time are we going to need. Our hearts are still broken and our souls still feel lost. Who would have thought the impact one person could have made on so many lives would be this great. We do have your music that is heard everyday, everywhere, at any time over the radio. We have your videos that we can watch to remind us what a great drummer you were and what a wonderful smile you had. And most of all we have the memories, oh the wonderful memories that live within our minds, hearts and souls. We miss you and love you very much Randy. See you on the other side. Say hi to Dad and "T" Your mom, sisters, Ziggy and close friends.

GEARY -- Gladys M. Geary died Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at Applewood Living Center surrounded by family and friends. She was 82 years old. Born October 2, 1923 in Crowell, TX to Thomas Andrew and Maud W. (Stovall) Baxter, Gladys was a very competent and independent woman. She was very accomplished in many areas, a businesswoman, great homemaker, cook and mother. Very generous in helping others. Gladys married Richard Geary in November 1956. She was an antique show dealer doing shows from California to Texas. She moved to Longmont, CO in 1979, opened an antique shop in Lyons and was instrumental in starting the Lyons antique dealers association. She also had booths in Ft. Collins and Greeley flea markets. She joined the "Hello Dollies" doll club in 1990. She was an avid doll collector and was very knowledgeable in dolls. She was very active member and instrumental in getting the doll club to furnish 3 building in the Childs world of Tiny Town, CO. IN 1945 she gave birth to a "Mongoloid" Child (Downs syndrome). She was told to institutionalize him as he would never be able to sit up, or feed himself or do anything. This made her mad as she knew people train dogs so she knew she could "train" this boy. She raised him and taught him to feed himself, dress himself, to speak and understand much of what he was told. After several years at home with no school facilities available at that time she was forced to put him in an institution. They were amazed that he could speak and understand. In the 1960s she was an active member of the Albuquerque Association of retarded children. She implemented and ran a project to obtain a bus to transport the children. She got publicity and response from some eight states to collect "gift stars" and DPI code labels to exchange for the bus. She received hundreds of letters only addressed to "the retarded bus, Albuquerque, NM"; she exchanged one and a quarter million coupons for the bus. Her Down syndrome son died just before Christmas in 2004, while in a group home in Albuquerque. Gladys had a stroke in July 2005, and slowly deteriorated, moving to Applewood in November. She was preceded in death by one son, one infant daughter, her parents, and six siblings. She is survived by her husband, Richard L. Geary of Longmont, CO; twin sons, Michael Geary and wife, Rose and Timothy Geary and wife, Patricia, both of Las Vegas, NV; brother, Charley Baxter of Kerrville, TX; a sister, Rutha Shackelford of Dallas, TX; and grandchildren, Ivette, Andrew, Matthew, Tessa, Nathan, and Rachel; also numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday March 30, 2006 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 31, 2006 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel with David Bradshaw of LifeBridge Christian Church officiating. Interment 1:00 p.m. Friday at Shelter A, Ft. Logan National Cemetery Denver, CO. Contributions can be made to ARCA Foundation and sent in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Visit www.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com to leave condolences for family.

QUINTANA -- PATRICIA A. In Loving Memory of Our Darling Patricia A. Quintana January 21, 1963 - March 28, 1990 Gone, but not forgotten, Although we are apart, Your spirit lives within us, Forever in our hearts. The Rose Still Blooms A Rose once grew where all could see, sheltered beside a garden wall, and as the days passed swiftly by, it spread its branches, straight and tall. One day, a beam of light shone through a crevice that had opened wide. The Rose bent gently towards its warmth then passed beyond to the other side. Now, we who deeply feel its loss, Be comforted, the Rose blooms there. Its beauty even greater now, nurtured by God's own loving care. You brought so much joy and love into our lives. You left us sixteen years ago. We love you and miss you more and more. "Time goes on... Memories abide always." Your loved ones who never forget you!
