Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday March 26, 2006

Ann Louise Cates, born August 9, 1942 in Salt Lake City, UT, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006 after a long battle with cancer. She was an artist with over 40 years in the printing industry. She was the creator of Chile Jammin' Stuff. More importantly, she was a caring and compassionate individual who always had time for her many friends. Friends whom she cared very much for during her time on this earth. Her infectious laugh, generous smiles and steadfast willingness to speak honestly and to the point will be dearly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Clayann Cates; son-in-law, Tom Simpson; sister, Jeanne Davenport; and brother in-law, Hershel Davenport. Ann graciously donated her remains to the University of New Mexico for medical research. Memorial Service will be held at Noon on April 1, 2006 at the Bernalillo Wine Festival Grounds, Loretto Community Park, 2027 Camino del Pueblo. Followed by lunch and gambling at one of her favorite spots, the Santa Anna Casino.
