BURRAGE -- Camille Rene Burrage August 16, 1971 - May 17, 1994 Fifteen years ago, Camille was taken from this world and left so many of us with a hole in our hearts that seemed impossible to heal. Amazing friendship, hysterical laughter, unfaltering generosity, and incredible perseverance are just a few of the things that we miss so much and remember so fondly. We are truly lucky to have had such an incredible spirit in our lives, and she will never be forgotten.

MCDANIEL -- Billie Dine (Pratt) McDaniel, 74, beloved sister of Patsy Ann (Pratt) Simonson, passed away on May 15, 2009 in Albuquerque. She was born in Santa Fe, NM to William and Melba Udine (Dooley) Pratt. Billie grew up in northern New Mexico where her family's ranching and mining interests shaped her life; propane lights, outdoor plumbing, milk cows, sod houses, and pinto beans filled the stories she wove until her last days, yet the words came without a shadow of how difficult the family's life had often been. Her grandfather James R. Dooley strongly influenced her early years and told her she could be anything she wanted to be when she grew up - and she was! Billie owned an accounting business (1955-2003), worked at the Santa Fe's La Fonda and Albuquerque's El Dorado and Alvarado hotels, ran woodcutting and photography business, and traveled extensively in "The Moose". She spent most of her final years in her Cedar Crest mountain haven surrounded by the landscapes and animals - wild and tame - she so dearly loved. Her son Rob McDaniel and his wife Kim, daughter Tami McDaniel, grandchildren Dustin and Emerald, sister Patsy Simonson, nieces Cindy Hunter-Crofton and Jeanette Hunter and their immediate families, and many dear friends survive Billie Dine. Services will be held Wednesday, 1:00 pm, May 19, 2009 at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd NE. Friends may visit at French Mortuary Tuesday 4:00 - 6:00 PM. SCHOEPPNER -- Janet Montoya Schoeppner. Janet was the best-the best wife, daughter, sister, friend, nina, teacher and mentor. Janet was incomparable in life and irreplaceable for us all. The quiet wisdom that Janet modeled for us all is only one of the many things everyone loved about her. She had a way of making our lives seem doable, understandable and important. You felt like you were the center of her universe whether you were her student, her colleague or a family loved one. Janet is the daughter of Roger and Esther Montoya. Some called her Jessie-named after her grandmother-one of three Jessies in the Montoya family. They were very proud of her and her accomplishments and she deeply loved them. Janet was wife to John, sister to Donna and Joseph, tia to Joaquin, Mandi and Joseph, a sister in law to Therese Schoeppner and Jerry Schoeppner and wife Carol Salazar, Janet was godmother to Monica, Adelina, Joaquin, Jonathan, Joseph and E.J. and teacher to hundreds of students and colleagues whose lives she touched in unforgettable profound ways. Janet grew up in Albuquerque; a 1979 Bulldog graduate, and later received her Bachelors and Masters from UNM. She started teaching in 1984 at Eugene Field then taught at Longfellow, Lew Wallace, UNM and most recently at Adobe Acres. While upholding her professional duties as an educator, she has worked tirelessly in her union to share her teaching knowledge and expertise with hundreds of teachers, enabling them to start on their own professional journey and attempt to emulate her astounding ability with both kids and adults. Everyone admired her quiet and powerful thoughtfulness. She could sit and listen to every point of view in a room and then in a quiet and calm way cut to the bottom line of every issue with an insightful perspective and thoughtful solution. She was never been afraid to fight for what is right. Janet valiantly fought cancer for almost 20 years with dignity, grace and courage. She never wanted anyone to worry about her, yet she worried and cared or all of us. Her powerful grace leaves us all richer but wanting-wanting more time to love her and to be loved by her. A traditional Catholic Rosary will be held at St. Charles Tuesday, May 19th at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. followed by an interment at Mt Calvary. Later this summer, the Albuquerque Teachers Federation and friends will hold a special celebration of Janet's life for the many whose lives she touched. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude Murphy; his sister, Eleanore LaBarre; and his son, Robert, leaving behind a large, loving family. He left home at 13 to join the Civilian Conservation Corps, driving supplies to work camps from his base in Utah. He kept two dollars out of his monthly pay and sent the rest home to his Mom and sister. Gertrude signed the papers that allowed him to join the U.S. Navy at age 15. A sailor, diver, spinner of yarns, and Navy man through and through, he fought and caroused his way around the world. Irrisistible to women, he finally met his bride, Gloria Derby Brodsky, with whom he shared many wonderful adventures. They celebrated their 50 year anniversary in April 2009. Gloria and Bob met in Waikiki and went on to live in Ajijic, Jalisco, Morgan City, Louisiana, and San Diego, California. He taught scuba diving at the historic Hotel Del Coronado, before settling in Albuquerque to embrace the Southwest lifestyle. His love of driving led them to travel the country in their RV with their two beloved boxers, Guy and Gal. An avid golfer and a deadly card shark of the highest order, he knew every card in your hand before you did. We honor and miss him and know that he looks out for us from his station on the high seas.
