RIORDAN -- Robert B. (Bob) Riordan passed away Friday morning, May 15, 2009, after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Linda; and sons, Brian of Seattle, WA, Kevin of Spokane, WA; and Brian's daughters, Leeanne Riordan and Jennifer Patino, also of Seattle. Jennifer and her husband gave Bob two great-grandchildren, Angelina and Alejandro. He is also survived by his brothers, Judge Willliam Riordan, Jim Riordan, Dr. Richard Riordan and wife, Andra, and Dr. Terry Riordan; and his sister, Mary Ellen, and her husband, Jim Letterio, all of Albuquerque. He is preceded in death by his parents, "Buck" and Helen Riordan. Born in Wichita, KS in 1938, Bob came to Albuquerque in 1948 and attended his middle school years at The Abbey in Canon City, CO. He graduated from Highland High in 1957 and served a hitch in the Navy before settling down. His first career was with National Cash Register and, as their products became more electronic, Bob became a self-employed "go to guy" for creative repairs on mechanical cash registers to extend their years of service for local businesses. Later in life he decided to return to school to earn his RN degree and spent 15 years in nursing before retiring from Anna Kaseman Hospital in 2001. Bob loved to ride his motorcycles and just recently finished restoring his 1969 Triumph Bonneville to pristine condition. Bob's other love was the Albuquerque Press Club where he served on the board of directors for several years and where he and Linda acted as greeters and spent many, many hours maintaining and repairing the club's historic building and grounds. Those wishing to share a memory, "Bob story" or send an expression of condolence (or read same) are welcome to sign on to ABQPressclub.org and follow the "In memoriam" link. Services are pending. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th St, NW, ABQ, 87107. 505-343-8008.
