Milton John Lew, Jr., 79, of Albuquerque, NM passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at the University of New Mexico Hospital. Born October 11, 1929, the youngest of three children to the late Milton John Lew, Sr. and Helen Gorman Lew in Clairton, PA, a suburb of Pittsburgh. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Wright and brother, William Lew. Milton enjoyed life in the Pittsburgh area where he met & married Dorothy M. Herrle on December 3, 1948. Milton especially enjoyed ballroom dancing, target shooting and spending time outdoors on sun filled days. He particularly had a genuine appreciation of music and entertainment. Milton and Dot's oldest son, M. John Lew III was born in Pittsburgh, PA. Soon after his birth, the Lew family relocated to Albuquerque where the couple was blessed with 4 additional children. Milton is survived by 3 sons, M. John Lew III and his wife, JoAnn of State College, PA; Stephen G. Lew and his wife, Mary, of Jacksonville, FL; Timothy S. Lew of Pittsburgh, PA and 2 daughters, Laura L. Lavia and her husband Dean of Humboldt, TN; and Karen L. Parsons and her husband Dexter of Painesville, OH. Additionally, he is survived by his former wife, Dorothy Lew; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Milton worked with TWA and the Atomic Energy Commission, a division of Sandia Corporation, from November 1950 to 1968. The family returned to the Pittsburgh area where Milton assumed the position of Director for the Somerset County Workshop for the Mentally Challenged. In 1990, Milton moved to the Indianapolis area where he assisted with this son, Steve's motion picture film distribution business. In 1994, he retired to the city he loved, Albuquerque. Visitors will be received by the family on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE followed by a graveside service at the Mount Calvary Cemetery.
