MCDANIEL -- Billie Dine (Pratt) McDaniel, 74, beloved sister of Patsy Ann (Pratt) Simonson, passed away on May 15, 2009 in Albuquerque. She was born in Santa Fe, NM to William and Melba Udine (Dooley) Pratt. Billie grew up in northern New Mexico where her family's ranching and mining interests shaped her life; propane lights, outdoor plumbing, milk cows, sod houses, and pinto beans filled the stories she wove until her last days, yet the words came without a shadow of how difficult the family's life had often been. Her grandfather James R. Dooley strongly influenced her early years and told her she could be anything she wanted to be when she grew up - and she was! Billie owned an accounting business (1955-2003), worked at the Santa Fe's La Fonda and Albuquerque's El Dorado and Alvarado hotels, ran woodcutting and photography business, and traveled extensively in "The Moose". She spent most of her final years in her Cedar Crest mountain haven surrounded by the landscapes and animals - wild and tame - she so dearly loved. Her son Rob McDaniel and his wife Kim, daughter Tami McDaniel, grandchildren Dustin and Emerald, sister Patsy Simonson, nieces Cindy Hunter-Crofton and Jeanette Hunter and their immediate families, and many dear friends survive Billie Dine. Services will be held Wednesday, 1:00 pm, May 19, 2009 at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd NE. Friends may visit at French Mortuary Tuesday 4:00 - 6:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Albuquerque Animal Humane Association (address) or any other animal rescue organization of you choosing.
