James W. "Bill" Travelstead, 83, of Albuquerque, NM, formerly of Carbondale, IL, passed away at 5:55 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009 at his home in Albuquerque, NM. Bill was born August 30, 1925 in Carbondale, IL to Virgil Lanell and Zelphia Irene (Jones) Travelstead. He is survived by Willetta Sue (McBride) Travelstead. They were married on July 10, 1949 at Carbondale, IL. Other survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles W. "Chuck' and Ann Travelstead and Toby L. Travelstead, all of Albuquerque, NM; a daughter and son-in-law, Sondra and Steve K. McCartney of Albuquerque, NM; three grandchildren, Kaylee McCartney, Chris and Ben Travelstead; a brother, Bob Travelstead of Bothell, WA.; and a sister, Betty Ozmat of St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bill was a member of the Hope Evangelical Free Church in Albuquerque, NM. He served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2009, 4:00 p.m., at Hope Evangelical Free Church, 4710 Juan Tabo NE. Interment was held at Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hope Evangelical Free Church, 4710 Juan Tabo Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM. 87111.
