John V. Sisson, USMC CWO2, Ret., 85, a long time resident of Albuquerque passed away comfortably on Friday, May 15, 2009. He was born in Bristol, OK, attended Drumright High School and enlisted in the US Marines at a very young age beginning his 30 year career in the Marines defending our country. John served in WWII, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He was an avid golfer with the Albuquerque Senior Golf Assoc., was active in the Ballut Abyad Shrine and the Shrine Air Patrol. John was a member of the Marion Lodge 103, Salem, IL. Upon his retirement from the Marine Corps he began working with Rust Tractor. John is survived by his daughter Sara Via Cava of Murrietta, CA, step-son Michael Kidd and wife Gloria of Albuquerque; step-daughter Jana Chadwick and husband Donald of Milford, CT; five grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and sister Goldie Christian of Woodward, OK. He was preceded in death by his wife Collene; and his two sisters Hazel Sebastian and Pauline Mikkonen. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 20, 2009, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Services will be Thursday, May 21, 2009, 10:00 a.m. at French Lomas Chapel with interment to follow at 1:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery with full military honors.
