Black -- Aaron J. Black, 29, of Chicago, IL, formerly of El Paso, TX passed away on October 2, 2002 of testicular cancer. Aaron fought the cancer for three years with dignity, his unique spirit and courage. Survived by his parents, Fred and Deborah Black; brother, Adrian; grandparents, John and Ruth Wilkinson, Fred and Amelia Black Sr., and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Aaron was a 1992 graduate of Hanks. Cremation by Haben Funeral Home. Services will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2002 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Josephs on the Rio Grande Catholic Church in Albuquerque, NM. His ashes will be scattered at Monkey River, Belize. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Beulah Combs of Los Lunas; son, Johnny Combs and wife, Jackie of Indio, CA; daughter, Rhonda Leonard and husband, Vincent of Los Lunas; grandchildren, Jeffrey Leonard, US Army, Ft. Jaramillo -- Mrs. Carmen A. Jaramillo, 76, a resident of Los Lunas, NM passed away on October 5, 2002 with her loving family at her side. Mrs. Jaramillo is survived by her daughter, Pacing Gurule and husband, Dennis; her son, Nick Balido and wife, Cynthia; nine grandchildren, Leticia, Monica and Nicole Balido, Patrick, Gene, Bert, Shaun and Christopher Ortiz and Brandon Gurule; three great-grandchildren, Marcos Balido, Joshua and Isaac Ortiz; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Jaramillo was a member of the Catholic Church. Lewis -- Mr. Earl T. Lewis, 74, a resident of Albuquerque and formally of New York passed away on October 3, 2002. Mr. Lewis is survived by his mother, Martha F. Lewis; a brother, Jerry Lewis; a sister, Cheryl Lewis; his loving companion of 12 years, Sarah Grimm; his best friend, Billy Grimm; his"gang", Julian Grimm, Jocelin Grimm, Sarah Grimm and Angelica Grimm. He is preceded in death by a brother, David Lewis. Mr. Lewis was a Veteran of the U. S. Army serving in the Korean War, a life member of the D.A.V. Lindell -- Major Kermit Fennel Lindell, US Army (Ret.), 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, died Wednesday, October 2, 2002. He was born May 23, 1915 in Huron, SD and moved with his family to Minnesota in 1920, growing up on a farm near Welch and Redwing. Maj. Lindell entered the US Army in 1936 at Ft. Snelling and served during WWII and Korea, retiring in 1956 with over 20 years of service to his country. He was employed with Sandia National Laboratories for over 18 years, retiring in 1974. Maj. Lindell was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and had life memberships in both the Retired Officers Association and the National Rifle Association. Mr. Lindell had been a resident of La Vida Llena Retirement Community since 1990. He is survived by his sister, Frances Viola Foster; three nieces; and two nephews. After 55 years of marriage, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel in December 1995. Services will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2002, at 10:00 a.m., at La Vida Llena Retirement Community, 10501 Lagrima De Oro NE. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Longacre -- Mr. Reuben H. Longacre, 80, passed away on October 2, 2002. Mr. Longacre was born in Pena Blanca, New Mexico on March 1, 1922 to Reuben and Teresita Longacre. Mr. Longacre is the beloved husband of 60 years to Mrs. Fessie Longacre. He is also survived by two daughters, Tess Greenwood and husband Ron, Nora Parnell and husband Bob; grandchildren, Ginger and Rod King, Blake Greenwood, Keith and Laura Greenwood, Scott and Heidi Parnell, Andy and Tracy Greenwood; great-grandchildren, Cory, Cyle, and Christopher King, Dustin Greenwood, Ginny, Rebecca and Ryan Greenwood, Zachary Thorpe, Travis and Trey Parnell; brothers, Ben Longacre and wife, Helen, Jess Longacre and wife, Char; sisters, Ferby Vigil and husband, Aurelio and Tomasita Garcia; numerous nieces, nephews and lots of friends. Moore -- Lora Moore our Mother, Grandmother, Wife, Sister, Aunt and Friend passed away Monday, the 23 of September, 2002. Lora was born June 11, 1933. Conceived in Silver City, New Mexico, she was born in Marshfield, Wisconsin (Grandma didn't trust New Mexico hospitals) and raised in Silver City. Lora's family was her life. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, loving and cherishing her children and grandchildren and helping others. In the 1990's she owned and operated"Home Away From Home Inc." A residential care facility that she was very proud of. In the last two years of her life, she enjoyed working with and holding office in the Four Hills Lions Club. She was a bright spot in the lives of all who knew her. Lora worked hard, lived life fully and loved deeply. We can't express in words how much she loved her family and her grandchildren and how much they loved her back. Her earthly time left behind, Lora is at peace after her brave battle with cancer. Her courage during this time, was an inspiration to everyone. It was Lora's firm belief that all her loved ones who had gone before her, would be waiting to welcome her to Heaven. We know how much she's enjoying her family reunion. Lora is survived by her husband, Clayton Moore; her daughter, Paula Laney Gauntt; her son's, Lee D. Laney and Kenneth Laney, Lee's life partner, David Crawford; her brothers, Donald Lindow, Larry Landrum and Dennis Landrum; her sister, Lois Fuller; her step-daughters, Laura Moore, Louise Longenette and Linda Peterson and her most cherished, beloved grandchildren, William Hill Buck, Lora Kimberly Gauntt, Samantha Jo Gauntt and Nathan Clayton Kirby. Her son, James Robert Buck and her parents, Jewel Andraska and Edward Frank Lindow predeceased her. In keeping with Lora's wishes, no services will be held. Moore -- Patrick A. Moore, 48, a resident of Albuquerque for 43 years, died Thursday, October 3, 2002. He is survived by his son, Arlen Moore; daughter, Audrey Moore, both of Albuquerque; one brother, Michael Moore of Carlsbad, NM; four sisters, Phyllis Manns of Dallas, TX, Lois Blanks of Tacoma, WA, Janice Pettis of Sacramento, CA and Corliss Lozano of Bastrop, TX; and great-aunt, Barbara Brautigam of Sacramento, CA. Mr. Moore was a caring father and brother. He loved fishing with friends and family. Mr. Moore leaves behind a legacy of beautiful landscaping in the Albuquerque area. Mosier -- Donald M. Mosier, MSG. U.S. Army, (Ret.), 86, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, October 3, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Grace Mosier of the family home; daughters, Kathy Robberson and husband, Pat of Cheyenne, WY, Carol Straub and husband, David of Albuquerque, Maureen Thoendel and husband, Frank of Festus, MO, Donna Griffin and husband, John, and Barbara Rodgers and husband, David, all of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Mosier is preceded in death by his son, Donald M."Buddy" Mosier, Jr. He served in the U.S. Army for 22 1/2 years. Mr. Mosier was also a Security Guard for the FAA for 15 years. Ortiz -- Leonard H.Ortiz, 78, a resident of Albuquerque since 1966, passed away on October 4, 2002.He is survived by his wife, Lily, of 51 years; daughters, Catherine Hall and husband Allen, Patricia Tanner and husband Scott and Danielle Ortiz; sons, Daniel Ortiz, Steven Ortiz and wife Susan; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Leonard served twenty years in the U.S. Army. He worked at the University of New Mexico in the Chemistry Dept. until his retirement in 1987. Leonard was a life- member of Knights of Columbus, JFK Council 5729 and Father Mandalari Assembly. He was a long time member at St. Bernadette Catholic Church where he served as an usher. Sanchez -- June 24, 1931 - October 4, 2002Refugia T."Cuca" Sanchez was born in Las Nutrias on June 24, 1931 and rejoined our Lord on October 4, 2002. Refugia worked for the Belen Public Schools and retired after 19 years of service. Refugia had a servant's heart and provided care and service to many over the years. She was a faithful wife, devoted mother and loving grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, embroidery and many other crafts. She enjoyed planting and growing flowers. She was infamous for her red chili, posole, tamales, pastelitos, biscochitos, tortillas and papitas. She was also a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. She is survived by her daughter's, Aurora Gonzales and her husband, Edmund, and Bernadette Casamento and her husband, Al; her four grandchildren, Christopher, Francisco, Vincent, and Tristan; her brothers, Charlie Torres and his wife, Mela, Hernandez Torrez and his wife, Ramona; her sisters, Oralia Viapando and her husband, Mike, Rita Baca; her many loving nieces and nephews; her beloved friend, Hermanes Sanchez and children, Dennis Sanchez, Agnes Baca and her husband, Ray, Clarence Sanchez and his wife Sheila, Gina Vallejos and her husband, Ernest and Tiny Ayala and her husband, Jesse; and Herman's many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Refugia was preceded in death by her husband, Quirino A. Sedillo -- Cipriano ¯Banjo¯ Sedillo, age 80, passed away October 4, 2002 at the Veterans Hospital in Albuquerque. He was born and lived in Albuquerque, served in the US Army during WWII, and was a lifetime member of the D.A.V and the American Legion. Stovall -- Virgil Stovall, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico since 1956, was born October 4, 1924, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2002. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Doris Stovall; daughter, Janie Powell and husband, Lu; son, Mickey Stovall and wife, Sonya; grandsons, Joshua Stovall and Douglas Stovall and wife, Samantha; granddaughters, Kim Kupec and husband, Tom and Michele Papich; seven great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Cecil Loewen; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and 11 brothers and sisters. Virgil was a decorated Air Corps Captain in WW2 as a B-24 lead bombardier navigator with the 456th Bomb Group stationed in the European Theater. Virgil retired from Roberson Construction Co. after many years of accounting and management for the man he considered to be his best friend, Coda C. Roberson. Virgil was a member of the Rock Island Lodge #869, Masonic Temple for 55 years. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2002, 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with J. Curtis Goldman officiating. Tate -- Geraldine (Jeri) Bocklaman Tate passed away on September 27, 2002 following a lengthy illness. Jeri was born on a farm in Ionia, Missouri on February 28, 1918. She moved to New Mexico with her husband, Jack, in 1956. For a number of years, Jeri was associated with Homecare Homemakers. Jeri enjoyed cooking and caring for others. She had a tremendous amount of compassion for the sick and infirm. Jeri is survived by her son, Dean Hanning; daughters, Beverly Weing and Sue Harms; nine grandchildren; over a score of great-grandchildren; and her dear friend, Marvene Hubbs. Trujillo -- Louie L. Trujillo, 53, of Cuba, NM., and formerly of Albuquerque North Valley, was tragically killed in an accident in Ponderosa, New Mexico, October 1, 2002. He served US Marine Corps during Vietnam and received a Purple Heart. Louie was formerly employed at Sandia National Laboratory and currently worked for Triple A Propane. He also served as a special operations driver for the Forest Service, most recently at the Lake Fire in Jemez. Louie enjoyed living in Cuba. He enjoyed¯ its mountains, the people, eating and socializing at Del Prado. He is survived by his children, Tanya and Chico and their mother, Nina, LeAnn and Leonard and their mother, Martina; his parents, Ruben and Bennie Trujillo; sisters, Darlene Forgette and husband, Leon, and Liz Roybal; brothers, Roman, Michael, Gilbert and wife, Lynette, and John Trujillo; ten nieces and nephews, and extended family in Puerto Rico and Belen; numerous other family members and friends who loved and will miss him.¯¯ Services will be held at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 4th and Alameda. Varney -- Richard G. Varney, Lt. Col., USAF, (Ret.), 84, a 32-year resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, September 30, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Gloria S. Varney of Albuquerque; sons, James Varney and wife, Judith of Albuquerque, Paul Varney of Bethel, CT, and Mark Varney and wife, Dorthea of Seattle, WA; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Vivian Nozar of Chardon, OH. He was a graduate of Ohio State University. Mr. Varney was a bomber pilot in China during WWII. He retired from the USAF as a Lt. Colonel. Mr. Varney also retired from the Federal Aviation Administration in 1975. Wahlenmaier -- John Milton Wahlenmaier, 92, formerly of Albuquerque. Memorial Services will be held on October 10, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at¯the First Baptist Church in Arkansas City, Kansas. Tom Clark of Wichita, KS will be officiating. Mr. Wahlenmaier had been living in Tyler, Texas since his retirement from Sandia Corporation. He died on September 27, 2002 at a Health Center near Tyler. Mr. Wahlenmaier was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie, in January 2000; and also by his son, Jess Edward, in January 1996. Watson -- Emma Lee Watson, age 81, and a resident of Albuquerque, died October 3, 2002. Emma was born on July 17, 1921 to the late John Coffelt and Carrie (Jorgenson) Coffelt. Survivors include son, Sidney Leon Watson of Manhattan KS; sisters, Mildred Thwaits of Hurley NM, Edna Coffelt of Silver City, NM, Jowilla Riggs and husband, Gene of Albuquerque, NM; brother, Allen Coffelt of Gila, NM; and one grandchild, Tracy Watson. Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Dale Watson in January of 1986. She was employed by White Winrock Hotel for over 20 years and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Haines Ward. No flowers please. Wilson -- Harold E. Wilson, Jr., 61, passed away September 27, 2002. He was born September 5, 1941 in Fairview, OK. Harold moved to Belen, NM at one year of age and lived there for over 35 years. He graduated from Belen High School, class of 1959. While attending Belen High School, he play varsity football. Harold Wilson was the owner of Wilson Landscaping based in Albuquerque. He is preceded in death by his father, Harold E. Wilson; and sister, Elizabeth Wilson. Survivors include his mother, Arietta Linton, longtime resident of Belen, NM, and recently moved to Watonga, OK; his wife of 23 years, Janet Wilson; as well as his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Joey Perez; his step-daughter, Susan Gorsline and family, both daughters of Dallas TX; sister and brother-in-law, Cozetta and T.W. Worthen -- Fred V.T. Worthen, age 75, passed away Wednesday evening, October 2, 2002 at his home with his loved ones by his side. He was born May 12, 1927 in Sherman, Texas. He joined the Navy at 17 and spent the next 30 years in the service of his country. He married Virginia Baker in 1957 and had two children, Stewart and Denise. Together they lived the life of a Navy family, moving many times and adjusting to new places and Dad's frequent absences. Dad began his Navy career as an enlisted man and rose to officer rank, retiring in 1973 as a Lt. Cmdr. After retirement, he settled in Albuquerque, near his mother, Marion (Brooks) Worthen; his sister, Margaret Castillo and her husband, Toby; and their sons, Vince and Paul. He spent the next 15 years as a substitute teacher for APS, retiring for good in 1991. In later years, he became an enthusiastic member of several ship's company associations, including those for the USS Quick, the USS Galveston, the USS H.J. Thomas and the USS Lynde McCormick. Nearest his heart, though, was the USS Orleck Association. Nothing gave him more pleasure than getting together with his Orleck shipmates, laughing, arguing and reminiscing about the old days. He never missed an Orleck reunion until this year, when illness prevented his attendance. He leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Virginia; and daughter, Denise and husband, William Olson. He was preceded in death by his son, Stewart E. Worthen, in 1986. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Castillo of Albuquerque; brother, Paul Worthen of Las Vegas Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dad's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. in the Fitzgerald Chapel, 3113 Carlisle N.E. The arrangements for Fred V.T.
