Obituary for Varney

Richard G. Varney, Lt. Col., USAF, (Ret.), 84, a 32-year resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, September 30, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Gloria S. Varney of Albuquerque; sons, James Varney and wife, Judith of Albuquerque, Paul Varney of Bethel, CT, and Mark Varney and wife, Dorthea of Seattle, WA; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Vivian Nozar of Chardon, OH. He was a graduate of Ohio State University. Mr. Varney was a bomber pilot in China during WWII. He retired from the USAF as a Lt. Colonel. Mr. Varney also retired from the Federal Aviation Administration in 1975. Cremation has taken place and memorial graveside services were held Friday, October 4, 2002, 1:30 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
