ANDERSON -- Loralea Lynn "Lolly" Anderson of Albuquerque, died Friday morning, October 16, 2009 after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Peoria, IL December 27, 1950 and received her bachelor of fine arts degree from NMSU. Lolly was a talented artist and adored teacher whose professions included advertising director for Lovelace Medical Center, freelance graphic artist and most recently art teacher for APS. She was always there with advice and comfort for her family and friends and she had a special connection with animals; many strays found new and loving homes after crossing her path. She is survived by her sister, Gloria; brother, Rodger; nieces Cynthia and Loralyn; nephew-in-law, Les and long-time beloved companion, Ben. BACA -- Esidora "Lola" Baca, 1914 - 2009, age 95, a resident of Adelino, NM, peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2009. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tome, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Rito Baca in 1993; daughter, Rita C. Baca in 2008; and son, Gomicindo Baca in 2008. Esidora is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Baca; two sons, Jose Ramon and Teofilo Baca; one grandson, Andrew Joseph Baca and wife, Kirsten; one great-grandson, Henry Lee Baca; and daughter-in-law, Rhonda Fleming Baca. BERRY -- Dorothy Berry, 89, a resident of Albuquerque for the past 33 years, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2009. Dorothy was born the daughter of William and Frances Leeke, in Detroit, Michigan. She had been a member of Sandia Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque and was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas. She is survived by two sons, Don and Bill; daughter-in-law, Diane; and one grandson, James. BLEDSOE -- Juliana Marie Bledsoe, 49, resident of Albuquerque, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2009. She is survived by her children and their father, Karissa Deseree Bledsoe, Jimmy Bledsoe III, and Jimmy Bledsoe Jr.; mother, Igenia Vigil; siblings, Jackie Whitlatch, Janet Serna, Victor Vigil, Linda Montoya, Ricky Vigil, Sylvia Thompson, and Rita Phifer; numerous nieces and nephews, with a special connection to, Samantha, Savannah, Jazmine, Sarah, Pablo, and Damacio; and was expecting her first grandchild. She was preceded in death by her father, Carmel Vigil; siblings, Abrian Vigil, Nancy Vigil, and Mary Theresa Vigil. Juliana was devoted to her family, even calling her kids as often as five times a day. She was a very vivacious woman who would light up any room she walked into. Her lipstick was always with her! She was a great cook and made the best "enchurritos", posole, and cheesecake. Juliana was an heir of the Atrisco Land Grant. BRASFIELD -- William Dabney Brasfield, 82, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, October 16, 2009. He is survived by his wife Alice of Albuquerque; and nephew, Jim Dutli of Cleveland, OH. Bill was employed at the Los Alamos National Laboratory for 35 years, retiring as a Senior Designer in 1987. He had many interests, among them flying, travel, and photography. In retirement he served as a docent at the Albuquerque Museum and took up painting in pastels. Cremation has taken place and interment will take place in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. CAMPOS -- Mayo P. Campos, age 63, passed away unexpectedly on October 14, 2009 at the Guadalupe County Hospital. Mayo was born on April 18, 1946 in Pastura, NM to the home of Pedro and Annie Martinez Campos. He was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa. Mayo married Virginia Vigil on July 24, 1971 in Santa Rosa. Mayo worked construction, was a mechanic and also served as Police Officer with the City of Santa Rosa and a Deputy with the Guadalupe County Sheriffs Department. He served two terms as Guadalupe County Sheriff where he was proud of being the first Republican to win the office of Sheriff in 28 years. During his term as Guadalupe County Sheriff he was instrumental in the standard upkeep of the jail, he acquired many grants and was the first to bring the DARE program to Santa Rosa. He was recently working as a Site Supervisor for Security for Wackenhut Corp. Mayo enjoyed spending time with his family, joking around and was always busy working on different projects. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister. Survivors include his wife Virginia of the family home in Santa Rosa; his son Santana Campos and wife Rose of Santa Rosa; a daughter Dorothy Campos of Albuquerque; a granddaughter he helped raise; Latoya Silva, a nephew, Pat Vigil who he also helped raise; and his three grandchildren Zachary Campos, Santana Campos, Jr., and Jasmine Valverde. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters Leroy Campos and wife Annie of Santa Rosa, Armando Campos and wife Nancy of Santa Rosa, Carlos Campos and wife Mary Lou of Albuquerque, Jerry Campos and wife Connie of Santa Rosa, Arnold Campos of Santa Rosa, Mary Romero and husband Sam of Las Vegas, NM, Vivian Lopez and husband John of Santa Rosa, Adela Mata of Santa Rosa, Diane Campos of Santa Rosa, Emily Foust and husband Leonard of Shreveport, LA and Angie Barba of Belen along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. CHAVEZ -- Tim Juan Chavez, 64 A resident of Tijeras, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2009. Tim was born January 5, 1945 in Tucumcari, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, Selzo and Filomena Chavez; one brother Charles Chavez; and one sister Pauline Martinez. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Helen Chavez; sons Tony Chavez and Charles Chavez; daughters Melissa Vasquez and husband Chris Vasquez, Andrea Perea and husband Raul Perea; and 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; Brothers Julio Chavez, Reyes Chavez, David Chavez, and James Chavez. CLARY -- John Carter Clary, known by friends and family as "Carter", died on October 11, 2009 at the Heart Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Carter, a non-smoker, had been recently diagnosed with lung cancer. His death was sudden following a pulmonary embolism. Carter was born on August 3, 1941 in Charlotte, North Carolina. He earned his B.S. degree from the University of Virginia in 1964 where he was a member of the Rugby Football Club and Glee Club. He received a NROTC scholarship, served as a Commander on the NROTC Drill Team, and was a NROTC honorary member of the Trident Society. Carter was commissioned in the United States Navy in 1964. He served as a Naval Aviator aboard the Coral Sea during the Vietnam War and served as an Air Intelligence Officer at the Fleet Intelligence Center until 1970. He earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Cumberland School of Law in 1974 where he was recognized on the Dean's List, represented the School as an Oralist on the International Law Moot Court Team in 1974, was elected Vice-President of the Senior Class, and was a member of the Honor Code Drafting Committee and the Delta Theta Phi legal fraternity. Carter earned his Master of Laws degree (in Labor Law) from the New York University School of Law, Graduate Division in 1978. He practiced law between the years 1974 and 2008 and served as criminal prosecutor for the State of Alabama then the State of New Mexico in Albuquerque, Raton, Clovis, and Las Cruces. He also worked for the Department of the Interior from 2007-08. Carter was a member of five State Bars including New Mexico, New York, Alabama, North Carolina, and Texas and was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. He served on the New Mexico Minimum Continuing Legal Education and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Boards for the New Mexico Bar. He also served as a volunteer in the Metropolitan Court Mediation Program. In addition to practicing law, Carter devoted much of his time to teaching. He taught a variety of subjects including English as a second language to Spanish, Japanese, and Russian students, "Aviation English", general English, adult basic education, police administration, and legal research and writing, immigration law, and business law to paralegal students. He taught at Wake Forest University School of Law in North Carolina, the International School of Business in Tokyo, Japan, the Clinical Law Program at the University of New Mexico School of Law, New Mexico State University in Farmington, Bessemer State Technical College in Alabama, the Metropolitan College in Albuquerque, CNM, Catholic Charities of New Mexico, and the Lingua Foundation for the Arts and Humanities in Russia via the internet. Carter was a world traveler who visited Australia, India, Saudi Arabia, Korea, the Philippines, China, Japan, Pakistan, France, Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica, and Spain. His last big adventure was a two-month trip to Spain in the Spring of 2009 where he taught English to students at Colegio Publico Menendez Pidal, Bembibre, Leon, Spain. Carter was also an avid bird watcher, loved music, and enjoyed singing and dancing. He taught dance at the Las Cruces Swing & Country Dance Club in Las Cruces, was a member of the Albuquerque Dance Club, sang with the Shape Notes Group of Albuquerque and the Immanuel Presbyterian Choir in Albuquerque. Carter is survived by his wife, Judith Keller Clary, his step - daughter, Courtenay L. Keller, both of Albuquerque, his sister Lee Davis of Fairfield, Ohio, his sister-in-law, Joan Clary of Oakhurst, California, brother-in-law, James Haag of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, and his beloved Daisy and Hardy. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the compassionate care givers at the Heart Hospital of NM. CLEVELAND -- Carolyn Ann Cleveland, loving wife of Tom Cleveland, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at the age of 67. She was preceded in death by her father, Ewell Higginbotham. Carolyn is survived by her husband Tom; mother, Glenna Higginbotham; sisters, Gloria Gooch, Kathryn Higginbotham, Sue Bercovich, and Ellen Gilbert; sons, Todd and wife Dottie, Scott and wife Kathy; grandsons Jeffrey and Joel, and many other family members and friends. She was a member of the Elephant Butte American Legion Auxiliary Post 44 and the Ladies' Dart League. Carolyn loved music, dancing, and was an avid crossword puzzle fan. COLP -- Martha W. Colp, 87, left this earth on September 20, 2009 to join her beloved mother and father, A.H. and Margaret Wiswell, her adored nephew Everett and numerous other relatives and friends. She is survived by the love of her life, John L. Colp, with whom she has shared almost all of her life. They were born on the same street in Carterville, IL and dad still remembers "the little girl on the blue bicycle." Married for nearly 68 years, Martha and John had three loving daughters who survive her: Carol Brown, Susan Rhoden and Jan Pendery who were all present, with their dad, at her death. Also surviving Martha is her older sister, Helen Williams; nine grandchildren; three nieces; and six great-grandchildren. Martha and John traveled the U.S. from one side to the other and top to bottom. They had visited 47 of the 50 states. They lived most of their life together in Albuquerque, NM and have spent the last ten years living with their middle daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Mike Rhoden, at their home on Possum Kingdom Lake, TX. Martha loved her life as a wife, mother and homemaker. Per her wishes, she has been cremated and the family will have a memorial service at the family plot in Carterville, IL at a later date. GOSSETT -- Richard James Gossett Jr., passed away suddenly October 10, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard James Gossett Sr., Barbara Elaine Murphy; and wife Beth Gossett. He leaves behind his daughters; Meghan Elizabeth Gossett and Emily Katherine Gossett; his sister, Sally Gossett; and brother Roger Gossett. He was born in Fairfield CA, on May 6, 1952. He was a kind, compassionate and courageous man with many varied interests. There wasn't a question he couldn't answer. In recent years he became increasingly more involved with soccer and began coaching the game he loved. He was employed at Goodrich Aerospace for many years. HALL -- Gertrude "Judy" Hall, 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1961, went to be with her Lord on October 16, 2009. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, James Hall; son, James Hall of Los Lunas; daughters, Kathy Brand and husband Darold of Fremont, NE, Eydee Dowd and husband Mike of Edgewood, and Linda Hall of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Eric Brandt and wife Cassie of Seattle, WA, Damon Brandt and wife Sherry of Vinita, OK, Stephanie Funkhouser and husband Brian of Monclovia, OH, Lisa Nichols and husband Nick of Greeley, CO, and Jon Michael Dowd and wife Cathy of St. Petersburg, FL; four great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and a whole host of "adopted" children. She was preceded in death by her son, Patrick D. Hall; and grandson, Adam James McPheeters. Judy was a longtime member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. HAMILTON -- Paul Hamilton was born September 25, 1919 in Pharr, TX, the son of Arthur and Lucy Hamilton. Paul was the third child of nine. He went to be with his Lord September 29, 2009 at his home in Bosque Farms, NM, at the age of 90. He is survived by his wife, Joveta; his children Curtis Hamilton of Camp Verde, AZ; Uleta Hamilton of Albuquerque, NM; John Hamilton and wife, Martha of Broken Arrow, OK; and Marvin Hamilton and wife, KC of Albuquerque, NM; ten grandsons - four with families, and two granddaughters and their families; and ten great-grandchildren; two brothers JW Hamilton and wife, Ernestine of Corrales, NM; and Jack Hamilton and wife, Louise of CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and five sisters. He married Joveta Sarah (Ingram) Hamilton on November 10, 1945. This November would have been their 64th Anniversary. Hamilton was a WWII Veteran and served in the Army Air Corp., stationed in Puerto Rico and Guam. He was a gifted machinist who retired from Sandia Laboratories after 35 years, who was also a craftsman, talented in woodworking. In 1957 Paul & his wife bought a home in Bosque Farms where they lived for 52 years. Paul accepted Jesus as his Savior at the age of 15 and was baptized. His faith only grew through the years. He was never shy about sharing his faith. He is remembered by countless people as the one who invited me to church, or the one who told me about Jesus. Through the years he served in numerous leadership roles and was instrumental in starting five churches in the valley. HAYDEN -- Paul E. Hayden or Brother Declan, 62, of Albuquerque, N.M., formerly of Leonardtown, was killed in a head-on collision October 3, 2009. He graduated from Ryken High School in 1965 and in September 1966 he entered the Congregation of the Little Brothers of the Good Shepherd. He received the name Brother Declan and began his religious life at the motherhouse in Albuquerque. His early years of formation were spent there before being sent to serve at Good Shepherd Manor in Momence, IL., among the mentally and physically disabled. He was sent to Philadelphia, where he served the poor and homeless at a soup kitchen and shelter. On the weekends, he could be seen in the park giving out sandwiches to those in need. He served briefly in Miami. Upon returning to Albuquerque, he went to school to obtain a licensed practical nurse degree. Shortly thereafter, he began his prison ministry. Every Saturday he went to the clinic and picked up medications and took them to the inmates at the jail. There, he was known for his big smile and hearty handshake. This mission was his joy. He is survived by his father, Elbert I. Hayden of Leonardtown; three sisters, Sister Marilyn, Charlotte and Sharon; and four brothers, Spencer, Tom, Owens and Gary. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Virginia Hayden; his sister, Ruth; and his brother Wayne. Arrangements were handled by French Funeral Home in Albuquerque. HENDREN -- Philip Paul Hendren 1940-2009 Philip Paul Hendren, age 69, a resident of Belen, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2009. Phil retired in 2002 from TVI, having also worked for the APD Corrections office for thirteen plus years. He enjoyed the outdoors and his family. Phil was a great mentor to his family and instilled many values in his children, family and everyone around him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucien and Romancita Hendren. Phil is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia Hendren; children, Philip II, Chris and his wife Stephanie, Monica Rawson and Alan Baca; grandchildren, Justin, Joshua and Krista Hendren, Kyleigh, Nicole, and Charles (Buddy) Rawson; siblings, Rev. Lucian Hendren, Elizabeth Hendren, Katherine Schmucker and her husband Art, Bert and his wife Rose Lee, Larry and his wife Kathy, Rita Feigl and her husband Tom. He is also survived by his beloved nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. HOLLAND -- Laurence Martin "Marty" Holland, 79, passed away in Los Alamos on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, after a battle with cancer. Marty was preceded in death by his parents, Laurence B. and Gertrude Hays Holland; as well as his brother, John Holland; and sister, Harriett Barrett. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis B. Holland; as well as his children: daughter, Ann DiPlacito and husband Dennis of Irvine, CA; daughter, Caroline Beatty and husband Robert of Riverside, CA; and son, Greg Holland and wife Tanya of Stafford, VA. He is also survived by his five grandchildren: granddaughter, Kellie Johnston and husband Kyle of Irvine, CA; granddaughter, Katherine DiPlacito of Irvine, CA; grandson, Andrew Bassett of Riverside, CA; and granddaughter, Ryan Holland and grandson Reese Holland, both of Stafford, VA. In addition, he is survived by several nieces and nephews. Marty was born on March 16, 1930 in Omaha, Nebraska. He served in the Air Force from 1948 through 1949. He received a Bachelor of Science in Natural Science in 1955 and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1958 from Colorado State University. Married in 1959, Marty and Phyllis moved to Los Alamos in June of 1960. Marty practiced veterinary medicine there from 1960 until 1966. From 1966 to 1991, Marty worked for Los Alamos National Laboratory. Marty was active in the Los Alamos community. He was a member of the Lion's Club and the Sheriff's Posse in the 1960's. During the 1970's, he served as a member of the Los Alamos County Health Advisory Board. He was twice elected to the Los Alamos County Council, serving from 1973 through 1976, and was Chairman in 1974 and 1976. He was elected and served as Los Alamos County Municipal Judge from 1987 through 1993. He also served on the Los Alamos Council on Alcoholism, where he was President from 1992 through 1995. Marty was honored with the Living Treasure Award in April of 2009. At the time of his death, Marty served as a member of the Friends of the Senior Center Board, as well as the Los Alamos Retirement Community (LARC) Board, including three terms as President. During his tenure on the LARC Board, he played a key role in the planning and construction of the Aspen Ridge Assisted Living Center. Marty was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church during his residence in Los Alamos. HYDOCK -- Joseph William "Joe" Hydock Jr., 75, resident of Albuquerque, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Suzanne (Sherman) Hydock; daughter, Kathy S. LOPEZ -- Arsenio G. Lopez 1931 - 2009. Arsenio G. Lopez, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He passed away on October 14, 2009. He was born and raised in Los Padillas NM. Resided in Casa Colorada for the last eighteen years. He is survived by his wife Josephine and his children Dora and her husband Dennis Drinkwater, Jose, Arsenio Jr. and his wife Grace, Nester and his wife Beth, Micheal, Frances and her husband Rebel Glass; Grandchildren are Leeann and Cynthia Lopez, Shauntiea and Atreyu Glass, Tiffany Hambay, Micheal II, Martin Sedillo Lopez and Jaclyn Logan; Great-grandchildren are Trent Logan and Dominic Vincente Lopez; His sisters are Annie Contreras, and Lupe and her husband Johnny Baca with numerous nieces and nephews. MARTINEZ -- Placido J. (Pop) Martinez, 92, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2009, after a short illness. Mr. Martinez passed away with his daughter-in-law by his side that he loved very much. He was born in Chimayo, NM, and graduated from Menaul School. Mr. Martinez served in the U.S. Army where he received a Purple Heart. He is survived by his three sons and daughter, Robert Martinez of Ca., Benny Martinez and Joseph Martinez both of Albuquerque; and Joann Magana of Rialto, Ca., and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr. Martinez will be missed by all of his family, particularly those that were in his life every day. MCWRIGHT -- Frank W. "Mac" McWright, born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, passed away in Albuquerque, New Mexico on October 15, 2009. He was born October 7, 1915 to William and Martha McWright. He graduated from Oshkosh High School and attended the John Marshall School of Law. He served in the U.S. Army in the Philippine Islands in WWII. He married Catherine Callaly in St. Paul, on March 26, 1938. They had four children. He was employed by the Post Office Dept. first as a Railway Mail Clerk and later was promoted to the position of Postal Inspector. In 1971 after serving 34 years with the Postal Dept. and as a Federal Agent, he retired. He and his wife bought an Air Stream trailer and traveled the United States for a number of years. After living in the Florida Keys, Grand Junction, Colorado and Loveland, Colorado. They moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1993 and lived in the Taylor Ranch area. He was known for his smile, humor and storytelling. He is survived by his daughters Catherine McWright Barton of Grand Junction, Colorado, Patricia (Ed) Burggraf of Auburn, Washington; and son Michael (Suzy) McWright of Deer Lodge, Montana; Grandfather of Eric Kribbs, Yvonne (Patton) Escobosa, E.J. Burggraf, Shana (Burggraf) Rosa and Dylan McWright; great grandfather of Chad Kribbs, Luke Kribbs, Katelyn Kribbs, Dalton Escobosa, and Giulia Rosa and great, great grandfather of Kaylee, Peyton, Darrin, Julianna Kribbs and Trenton Lewis. MILLER -- Jo Ann Miller, 73 born July 29, 1936, passed away October 11, 2009. She was a sister, devoted mother, loving grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born in Lee County, Virginia. Grandma Jo moved to New Mexico from Indiana in 1959. She retired from US West, (Mountain Bell) after 32 years. She continued to work part time at JC Penney's and was hitting her 23rd year. She was a dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star (Turquoise Chapter of Rio Rancho and Dual Membership of Adah Chapter of Albuq.) and also was Pr. Banker of Yucca Temple, Daughters of the Nile. She dedicated most of her time to these non-profit organizations. In her very little spare time she loved to read and make her beautiful Afghans. Jo Ann is survived by her only child, Jay D. and his wife Cavell Ann; her grandson Corey J.; and Granddaughter Tammra R.; and her two great-grandsons Alex V. and Blake R.; her sister Evelyn Trammell; and many nieces and nephews of Indiana; her brother Ralph and his wife Pattie; and niece, Deanna Kimberling. She was preceded in death by her mother, Stella; and stepfather Charles Oursler; her two brothers John B. (Jay) and Gayle, whom she loved and missed very much. MORGART -- Dr. John Raymond Morgart was born September 7, 1951, in Windber, Pennsylvania. He passed into eternal life October 14, 2009, peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after a hard fought battle with cancer. John was the son of William Raymond Morgart and Fleta Suter Morgart. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Elizabeth Dalton Morgart; his son, William Raymond; and his daughter, Jonnie Rebecca. John received his Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Science degree at Arizona State University followed by his PHD at the University of Arizona. John spent more than 30 years employed by various agencies within the Department of the Interior, but his greatest love was his time of employment with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. He touched countless lives and he will be missed. At John's request a small family service will be held in Logan, Utah. A celebration of life service will be held in Edgewood, New Mexico, on a future date. NICKOLSON -- Diana L. Nickolson, 93, resident of Albuquerque since 1947, died Thursday, October 15, 2009. She is survived by her son, Tom Nickolson of Albuquerque; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Mrs. Nickolson was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Nickolson; and son, Donald Nickolson. She was an active member of the Saint George Greek Orthodox Church in Albuquerque for many years. Mrs. Nickolson was born to Greek immigrants, Thomas Chalamidas and Georgia Roi in Pawtucket, RI. She has brothers Louie, Roy, Peter, George and sister Helen, all deceased. The family later moved to Ambridge, PA where she met and married Leon Nickolson from the province of Eleia, Greece. In the fall of 1947, they moved to Albuquerque where they owned and operated many businesses including the well known Liberty Cafe on 1st street and Central. Mrs. Nickolson would especially like to express her love and appreciation to her nieces, Connie Chalamidas, Helen Chalamidas and Becky Chronis, whom she affectionally called the "Girls", and whose love for them was as if they were her own daughters and to Marilyn Cole whose kindness, care, love and affection was so deeply cherished and appreciated during the final years of her life. NIGGEL -- Antoinette (Toni) Dobell Niggel, of Albuquerque, passed away October 15, 2009 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her eldest son Keith Brian Niggel and is survived by her husband Keith of 47 years; One son, Fr.Clement Niggel; and one daughter, Kerri and her husband, Joel Fiala; and her three grandchildren Desmond, Kasey, and Drake. She was also survived by her brother Steve Dobell and his wife Joanne; and Sisters, Rosemary and husband Tom Martin, and Betty Heise as well as her brothers and sisters on the Reynolds side of her family and many nieces and nephews. O'CONNOR -- Lillian (Lash) O'Connor, resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2009, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in San Ysidro, NM, in 1928 to Louis H. Lash, Sr. and Josephine Garcia. Lillian graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1946 and later joined the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, OH, for 18 years. Following in her father's footsteps, she became a teacher and taught at San Felipe and Atrisco Elementary Schools, and later retired from APS. Lillian was known for her devotion to numerous prayer groups, and is best remembered for her inspiring faith, frequent laughter, energetic joy for life, and boundless love of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Louis H. Lash, Jr., and her sister, Rosemary Lash. Lillian was the great granddaughter of Francisco Perea, a territorial delegate of New Mexico who served for the U. S. Congress during the Civil War alongside President Lincoln. She is survived by her brother, Bernard Lash, of Oceanside, CA; her sister, Kathleen Lopez and husband Daniel Lopez, of Santa Fe; sister-in-law Sally Jo Lash of Albuquerque; her uncle Antonio Garcia (97); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. PURVIS -- Toni Purvis, 38, of Albuquerque, joined her grandfathers, John and Sparky, and her best friends Ali and Julie, in heaven on Tuesday, 13 October 2009. She is survived by her grandmothers, Joyce Parten and Fannie Purvis; her mother, Sheila Griffis; her father, James Purvis; and her brother, Bryan; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Toni was born February 20, 1971 in Opelika Alabama. She spent her early years chasing butterflies in Auburn Alabama and building snowmen in northern Virginia, before moving to Albuquerque with her family in 1980. Toni played softball at Mile High Little League and soccer in the Classic Football Club in Duke City Soccer League. She graduated from Manzano High School and attended several years at UNM. A lover of cats, dogs, and people down on their luck, she could be generous to a fault. With a winning smile and a sardonic wit, she was a great addition to both camping trips and dinner parties. An adventurous but shy travel lover, she began to bloom as a photographer on a summer trip to Germany, Belgium and France. Family as well as friends from Hannover and Paris still have some of her photographs. We all miss you Toni-Boni. STANDISH -- Dorothy Nell Guest Standish, 87, passed away on October 3, 2009. A long time resident of Albuquerque, Dorothy was born March 13, 1922, in Bard, NM, and raised on a farm in the Porter and San Jon community. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Emma Guest; her husband, Tony Standish; her son, Samuel W. Mitchell; and grandson Kevin Mitchell. She is survived by her son John C. Mitchell and his wife, Tracey, of San Antonio, TX; and three grandsons, Brian Mitchell and his wife, Suzi, of New Braunfels, TX, Jason Mitchell and his wife Katie, of Norfolk, VA, and Kurt Mitchell, of St. George, UT. Dorothy traveled throughout the world and relished telling of her many exciting memories. She enjoyed her many years as an Eastern Star member where she established many friendships. She was also heavily involved with her San Jon graduating class and was a guiding force in organizing their many reunions over the last 40 years. Per her expressed wishes, no services were held. THOMPSON -- Kevin L., born August 22, 1969, passed away on October 11, 2009 at the tender age of 40. He was preceded in death by his mother, Frankie Thompson and his grandmother, Opal Moore. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, America Salas and their two wonderful children, Ishiah and Unique Thompson; two brothers, Reginald Thompson and Dathan Thompson and wife, Amanda; sister, Carlisa and her husband, Tovay; and 32 nieces and nephews. He was the proud owner of Alwayz Clean Company. Services will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2 009 at New Hope Baptist (corner of Pennsylvania and Indian School) at 3:00 p.m. We would love to have you attend to say farewell. He may be gone but not forgotten. TORRES -- Fernando O. Torres, 91, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2009. Born in El Paso, Texas on July 4, 1918, he moved his family to Albuquerque in 1960 and retired from the Santa Fe Railroad in 1977. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who proudly served his country during World War II and was known in the El Paso and Albuquerque areas as an accomplished pianist. Locally, he played with numerous bands, including the Don Lesmen Orchestra, and loved playing Augustine Lara compositions. He was preceded in death by his wife Annie Torres, who passed away in June, 1996. He is survived by son Fernando Torres II and wife Jane, daughter Mary Lou Armendariz and husband Eloy; daughter Lillian Armijo and husband Edward; son Lawrence Torres; and son Angel Torres and wife Patricia; 15 grandchildren, Fernando III, Valerie, Brandon, Yvonne, Amanda, Leslie, Edward Jr., Ashley, Josie, Ernest, Susan, Tiffani, David, Krista, Joshua and 11 great-grandchildren. The Torres family wants to thank the Ladera Nursing Facility for the wonderful, loving care of our Dad and Grandpa.
