Obituary for O'CONNOR

Lillian (Lash) O'Connor, resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2009, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in San Ysidro, NM, in 1928 to Louis H. Lash, Sr. and Josephine Garcia. Lillian graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1946 and later joined the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, OH, for 18 years. Following in her father's footsteps, she became a teacher and taught at San Felipe and Atrisco Elementary Schools, and later retired from APS. Lillian was known for her devotion to numerous prayer groups, and is best remembered for her inspiring faith, frequent laughter, energetic joy for life, and boundless love of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Louis H. Lash, Jr., and her sister, Rosemary Lash. Lillian was the great granddaughter of Francisco Perea, a territorial delegate of New Mexico who served for the U. S. Congress during the Civil War alongside President Lincoln. She is survived by her brother, Bernard Lash, of Oceanside, CA; her sister, Kathleen Lopez and husband Daniel Lopez, of Santa Fe; sister-in-law Sally Jo Lash of Albuquerque; her uncle Antonio Garcia (97); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held at First Family Church, 4701 Wyoming NE, Albuquerque, at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2009. Internment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, Albuquerque.
