Blauwkamp -- Bria Marie Blauwkamp, 21, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, May 5, 2003. She is survived by her mother, Sharon Blauwkamp; father, Rol Blauwkamp and wife, Samantha, all of Albuquerque; sisters, Lisa Permasang of Holland, MI, Heather Winia and husband, Mark, of Zeeland, MI, Rebecca Martinez and husband, Christopher, of Albuquerque, Teresa Blauwkamp of Marshall Islands, Jodi Sparks and Megan Blauwkamp both of San Diego, CA; brothers, Christopher Poll and wife, Beth, of Grand Rapids, MI, Travis Blauwkamp of Holland, MI and Colby Blauwkamp of Albuquerque; grandmother, Jan Vredevoogd, of Hudsonville, MI; grandparents, Richard and Patricia Keenan, of Jenison, MI and Lore and Van White of Albuquerque and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Bria was a student at Manzano High School where she was planning to graduate next Wednesday. Now she is graduating to heaven. Bria touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Borowy -- Alfred John Borowy, 66, Capt., USMC Ret., a resident of Corrales for the past 13 years, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2003. Alfred was born March 17, 1937 the son of Stanley and Antoinette Jarecki Borowy in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He had been an Aviation Supply Officer with the United States Marine Corps for 21 and a half years before retiring. He was a member of the American Legion in Corrales. He came to New Mexico from Tustin, California. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Stanley Borowy. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of the family home; seven children, Toni Foster of Benicia, CA, Sharyn Blair of Joshua, TX, Linda Hood of Eden Prairie, MN, Joan Tatge of Bryan, TX, Robin Greenwood of Albuquerque, NM, David H. Lee of Goodyear, AZ, and Diane Sudlow of Albuquerque, NM; twelve grandchildren; two cousins, Joe Piotrowski and Angela Blaish. Didomenico -- Nick"Coach D" DiDomenico, age 84, a resident of Las Vegas, New Mexico since 1950 and former resident of Dawson, New Mexico passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at the Las Vegas Medical Center/Ponderosa I. He was born in Dawson, New Mexico on September 24, 1919 to Clemente DiDomenico and Anna Chiachia DiDomenico. He is survived by Son, Nick DiDomenico Jr. of Las Vegas, NM; sisters, Adeline Starkovich and Sentina DiDomenico both of Raton, NM; sisters-in-law, Faye DiDomenico of Raton, NM, Sophia Nigro and Minnie Lucerna both of Denver, Colorado; brothers-in-law, Louie and Bruno Bergamo of Cimarron, NM; Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Rosary devotional services will be conducted on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church. Dollahon -- Derrell D. Dollahon, 78, a resident of Albuquerque for 56 years, died Monday, May 5, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy June Dollahon; sons, Daven D. Dollahon and wife, Rebecca and Daniel E. Dollahon; daughter, Diane D. Dunn and husband, Jim, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Rachel B. Watson, Corey Dunn Chavez and Tyler J. Dunn; brother, Bill Dollahon and wife, Gloria; sisters-in-law, Lee Dollahon and Libby Dollahon and Aunt Martha. Derrell was born and raised in Roswell, NM. He served in the Air Force and Infantry in WWII and was a proud and loyal American. Derrell graduated from UNM and was a member of Phi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He worked at Sandia National Labs for more than 30 years. Derrell was a dedicated Lobo Fan and supporter throughout his life. He loved to watch his grandkids play sports, loved his dogs and enjoyed boating with his family. He attended Montevista Christian Church. Heemann -- A. Howard Heemann, 78, formerly of Dallas, Texas and a resident of Albuquerque since 1991, died Wednesday April 30, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Julia Fisher Heemann of Albuquerque; children, Gretchen Schieffer and husband, Bill of Katy, Texas, Karyn Murphy and husband, Tom of Los Alamos, New Mexico, Paul Heemann and wife, Roberta of Dallas, Texas, Patricia Hoffman and husband, Gene of San Antonio, Texas, Joseph Heemann and wife, Yolanda of San Antonio, TX, and David Heemann of Temecula, California; sister, Julia Frances Berry of Ft. Worth, Texas; brother, John Heemann of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Kathryn, Margaret and William Lawrence Jr. Schieffer, Thomas Joseph V, Julia Grace and David Murphy, and Catherine and Robert Heemann; step grandchildren, Jessica Cooper and husband, Chris, and Kandice Heemann; and step great-grandchildren, Melbourne John Cooper II and Steven Heemann. Mr. Heemann was born in San Diego, California. and grew up in Ft. Worth, Texas. Howard served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict, remaining in the U.S. Naval Reserves until 1961. He graduated from the University of Texas-Austin; then, began his career as a CPA. He served on the Dallas Society of CPAs and was active in the AICPA. He was a retired partner of KPMG. Always a devoted Catholic, Howard was knighted into the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. His true dedication was to the SERRA Clubs of Dallas and Albuquerque. He served on the Vocational Committees of the Diocese of Santa Fe and St. Bernadette Parish. He was also a Eucharistic Minister at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Hill -- Victor Linville Hill, passed away peacefully with Donna, his wife of 65 years at his side, on May 3, 2003. Born in Cabin Creek, West Virginia on January 23, 1912 to William and Elizabeth Hill, Vic Hill led a long and satisfying life. Graduating from the University of Kentucky's College of Engineering in 1937, Vic mined copper in Tennessee, mercury in California, sulfur in Wyoming, uranium in New Mexico and lignite in North Dakota. In 1965, he joined Nordberg Manufacturing Company as district manager in Toronto, Ontario and later as regional manager in San Francisco. Elected to the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineer's Legion of Honor, Vic Hill was respected for his integrity, his devotion to his work, and his knowledge. He was especially proud of his work with"the over the hill gang," a group of retired engineers and geologists who, in 1977, went from exploration to uranium production in record-setting pace. During his retirement years in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Vic became a Master Gardner and was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel in 1987. An avid sports fan, Vic cheered enthusiastically for the Kentucky Wildcats, the Cincinnati Reds and, more recently, the SMU Mustangs. Vic Hill was known for his optimistic spirit, inquisitive mind and noble heart. But above all, Vic Hill was a family man. In addition to his wife, Donna, Vic Hill is survived by his son, William R. Hill of Tucson, Arizona; his daughter, Vicki L. Hill of Dallas, Texas; his granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Hill of Tucson, Arizona; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews in Arizona, California, Illinois, Kentucky, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas, as well as friends all over the country. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, May 11, 2003 at Owenwood United Methodist Church, 1451 John West Road, Dallas, TX. Hoffner -- Mary Gertrude Hoffner, 100, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2003. She was a member of the St. Lukes Parish in Glenside, PA for over 90 years and a lifetime member of Sandy Run Country Club. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, George W. Hoffner; her parents; brothers; sisters; and one niece. Mary is survived by her many loving nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; great-great -nieces and nephews; cousins; and many loving friends. Kessler -- Mary Beth Kessler, Albuquerque native and resident of Dana Point, CA, succumbed to cancer on April 26, 2003. A well known tennis professional, Mary Beth is fondly remembered by many friends and students. A 1968 graduated of St. Pius X High School, Mary graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Sociology in 1972. While at UNM Mary was ranked #1 on the University's Womens Tennis team. She was the Head Tennis Professional at Four Hills Country Club from 1972 - 1987 and was intermittently ranked in womens' singles and doubles during this time. In 1987, Mary Beth relocated to southern California where she coached and taught tennis to private students until her death. She also served as director of the annual Los Ninos Tennis Tournament which benefits children with special needs. Mary Beth loved teaching her students about tennis, but also about respect for others and becoming better human beings. She left the world a bit better and that alone is to have succeeded. Mary Beth is survived by her parents, Marcella and Chuck Kessler; sister and brother-in-law, Becky and Max Dominguez; sons, Max and Joseph; aunt and uncle, Marina and Warren Flood all of Albuquerque. She is also survived by Irwin and Dorothy Wagner and Ralph and Elaine Heiring; aunt, Leta Wagner of Dubuque, IA; aunts and uncles of Dubuque Iowa; and uncle, Jack Kessler of McMechen, West Virginia; aunt, Dolores Moore of St. Clarisville, OH. She is also survived by her dear friends, Dr. Jerry and Karen Stevens and their children, Ben, Chris and Susie; along with all her wonderful friends in California who helped Mary in her fight against cancer. Kittredge -- Paul E. Kittredge, a resident of Albuquerque for 20 years, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003. His survivors include his wife of 48 years, Anna Isabelle; six children, Mary Anna, Paul, Mark, Celia, Pat, and Franc; nine grandchildren, Steven, Craig, Amy, Leslie, Spencer, Nicholas, Ryan, Megan, and Amberle; five brothers and sisters, Sally, Teresa, Arlene, Charles, and Kevin; and countless friends. Paul was born in Philadelphia and raised in Boston until he joined the United States Marine Corps in 1949. He served as a radar repair technician in Korea during the Korean Conflict, after which he moved to Arizona. He met and married Anna, earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arizona and began raising his family. He and Anna moved to Albuquerque in 1983 where he continued his career with Honeywell until he retired in 1993. He was deeply loved, left a wide wake and will be sorely missed. Laben -- Margaret N. Laben, 68, a resident of Albuquerque passed away suddenly Saturday, May 3, 2003. She is survived by her husband, George J. Laben; her son, Steven Collins of Burleson, TX; sisters, Mary Alice Taylor of Albuquerque, Lucille Dittes of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; granddaughters, Christy Collins of San Francisco, CA; and Amber Duddleston of Lomoni, Iowa; stepson and daughter-in-law, Phil and Robin Laben; and step-granddaughter, Amanda of Albuquerque. Her family will miss her deeply. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lucy M. Duddleston. She was very active in the China-Burma-India Association, assisting her husband. Lenander -- Harlan Edward Lenander, Sr., 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, May 3, 2003. He was born in Minneapolis, KS, the second child of Edward William and Ida Warren Lenander on September 13, 1917. He graduated from Southwestern College, Winfield, KS in 1939 with a BS degree in Physics, Math and Chemistry. He attended Duke University for graduate studies until he was called by the Secretary of the Navy to join a small group of scientists charged with developing a system to protect ships from magnetic mines during WWII, which was successful. Harlan met his wife in Washington, D.C. and they would have been married 60 years on May 7, 2003. They were transferred to the San Francisco, CA office where they remained until the end of the war. The next three years were spent at the Naval Ordnance Test Station in China Lake, CA, where rockets were being developed and tested. In 1949, he and his young family arrived in Albuquerque where he spent 29 years at Sandia National Laboratory. He worked in development and atomic testing spending much time at the South Pacific Eniwetok test site; Barking Sands, Kauai, HI; Tonapah, NV; and San Diego, CA for a special underwater test. He retired in 1978 as Director of Weapons Applications. Harlan received an honorary PhD from Southwestern College and was inducted into their Science Hall of Fame, April 13, 2003. He received many other honors for his volunteer service in Boy Scouts, Elks Cerebral Palsy Program, University Hospital volunteer in the laboratory, Sandia Lab Science Advisor Program, Optimists International and his church, Holy Cross Lutheran. Harlan was musically talented and had a perfect tenor voice. He sang in choirs for 70 years wherever he was, including on a navy ship. He played the piano, organ and cornet. He was a Boy Scout troop leader and had the only Boy Scout Band in New Mexico. He also served on the Kit Carson Executive board and in district offices. He received the Lamb award from the Lutheran Church for distinguished service to Boyhood and the Silver Beaver award, the highest award in scouting. The Sandia National Labs Science Advisor's Program gave him a chance to encourage students at Taft Middle School to pursue education in math, science and engineering. Optimists International conferred Life Member, Friend of Youth upon him. Governor Garry Carruthers recognized his volunteer work with a Volunteer Service Award. TV-7 chose him as a Jefferson Award winner for time and leadership to benefit the community. Travel was a special part of his life and trips throughout the U.S. took him to all 50 states. Foreign travel to Mexico, Canada, Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, British Isles, The Holy Land, Greece, Turkey, New Zealand, Australia, Fiji, and the Bahamas were enjoyed and enriched the lives of all the family. Their 50th anniversary was celebrated by the entire family in Switzerland and Italy. They enjoyed watching their granddaughters participate in sports, beginning with Little League softball and soccer; going thru high school softball, volleyball, golf, and cheerleading; and college softball. He is survived by his wife, Helen; son, Harlan E. Lenander, Jr. DDS and his wife, Marie of Albuquerque; daughter, Margaret Ann Greenhaw and husband, Charles of Harrison, AR; three granddaughters, Mary Lynn Lenander Leidolf and husband, Robert of Plano, TX, Sherry A. Lenander of Albuquerque and Lisa Marie Lenander, a student at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX; his sister, Mrs. Donald Cary of Alma, NE; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Peter and Phyllis Masiero of Albuquerque; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald and Maxine Richardson of Hudson, FL; and nieces and nephews, Doug and Vicki Cary, Bill and Vicky Cary, Barbara and John Anthony and Jay and Kathy Kingery. Lovato -- Filomeno"Shorty" S. Lovato, 84, a lifetime resident of Manzano, NM passed away peacefully in his ranch house in Manzano, NM, Tuesday, May 6, 2003 after a short illness. He was born May 20, 1917 in Manzano, NM to Jose Jesus and Elifda (Silva) Lovato. He married Pablita Torres April 19, 1939 in Manzano, NM. Filomeno is survived by his wife of 64 years, Pablita Torres Lovato and their ten children, Dora and Jim Pitchford, Elfie and Robert Romero, Fidel and Emma Lovato, Estella Vigil, Rufina and Fred Oter, Gloria and Maclovio Zamora, Lenora and David Romero, Gabriel Lovato, Gilbert and Naphie Lovato, Manie Lovato, and Ed Daley; 37 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Natividad Lovato. Filomeno was a member of the St. Alice Catholic Parish and Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Manzano, NM. He was a Grand Knight in the Knight of Columbus, a carpenter, a plumber, a rancher. Filomeno will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather; great-grandfather; great-great-grandfather; and dear friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Maestas -- Judy L. Maestas, 55, a resident of San Fidel, New Mexico, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2003. She was a member o the St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Grants, NM. She was a longtime San Fidel business owner where she operated Ray's Bar along with her mother, Rose B. Maestas for many years. Judy was well known for always caring about others and she was always ready to help anyone in need. She is preceded in death by her father, Reynaldo in 1996. Judy is survived by her two loving children, Kristie Flores and her husband, Bobby; and D. J. Laskowski and his fiancee, Jennifer Reyes, all of Albuquerque, NM; one grandson, Spencer Flores; and one soon to be born; her mother, Rose B. Maestas of San Fidel; two brothers, Ray Maestas, Jr. and his wife, Celia of Grants, NM; and Ronnie Maestas and his wife, Lillian of Albuquerque and San Fidel. Judy is also survived by her many loving uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. All of Judy's services will be at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church with a rosary being held on Thursday, May 8, 2003 at 9:00 a.m. and a Funeral Mass being celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Belen Catholic Cemetery. Matthews -- Cleve E. Matthews, Lieutenant Colonel, USA (Ret), 64, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Margareta Matthews of Albuquerque; son, Col. Earl D. Matthews and wife Debra and granddaughters Nicole and Christine of Colorado Springs, CO; son, Andreas H. Matthews and wife, Twyla and granddaughters Melissa and Kristen of Sugarland, TX; son, Dr. Jeffrey J. Matthews and wife, Renee and granddaughters Kathryn and Emily of University Place, WA; mother, Margaret Lampe of Dodge City, KS; brother, John Matthews of Dodge City, KS; stepbrother, Frank Lampe of Dallas, TX.; stepbrother, Mark Lampe of Offerle, KS.; stepbrother, Joseph Lampe of Fowler, KS.; and stepsister, Mary Lois Sullivan of Dodge City, KS. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl E. Matthews; stepfather, Henry F. Lampe; brother, Doral C. Matthews; and stepbrother, Linus Lampe. Colonel Matthews enlisted in the Regular Army on April 10, 1958 and received a direct commission in March 1965 as Second Lieutenant in the Adjutant General Corps. He retired from the US Army on November 1, 1983. He served two tours in Vietnam where he participated in five campaigns with the First Infantry Division. He has many awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, two awards of the Bronze Start Medal, three awards of the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Medal and three awards of the Army Commendation Medal. He earned a bachelors degree at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a masters degree at Boston University. Following his retirement from the Army, he worked in Real Estate Development until July 2000 when he retired as Vice President of Sandia Properties, Ltd. Co. He was active in the New Mexico Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties. He served as the Chapter's President in 1994. He was an adjunct instructor at the University of Maryland, Columbia College, Chapman College and National College. Means -- Betty Lou Means passed away on May 2, 2003, after a six-month battle with cancer. She was born in Connellsville, PA on November 18, 1927. Betty earned several undergraduate and post-graduate degrees culminating with a Masters degree from California State Teachers College of Pennsylvania. She was a teacher for over 30 years with the Pittsburgh, PA and Albuquerque, NM public school systems. She was a leader among her peers, earning recognition as a Master Teacher in 1982 with the Albuquerque Public School system. After her retirement in 1984, she remained active with several charity organizations, most notable the Daughters of the Nile. She is survived by her two brothers; CDA McCoy of Oregon and Robert P. McCoy of Massachusetts; son, Donald C. Means of New Orleans, LA; daughter, Carole Moran of New York City; and four grandsons, Maxwell Means, Dylan Means, Palmer Means and Gregory Moran; and many dear friends. Betty's remains will be placed next to her husband, who preceded her in death in 1995, at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Neubauer -- Hekeb Neubauer, a longtime resident of New Mexico, beloved mother and grandmother, died Monday at the age of 84. She was born Helen Audene Nichols in Oil City, Pennsylvania on June 4, 1918. She married Theodore E. Neubauer on June 1, 1940 and she is survived by their children, Sandra Barela and husband, Tom, Karen Vancil and husband, Jim, Toni Neubauer and Don Pearsall, Lori Neubauer all of the Albuquerque area. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dawn Barela, Gailyn Barela and husband, Bruce Chumley, Matthew Barela, Craig Vancil, Kristy Baker and husband, Don, Joshua Vigil and wife, Tara, Seth Vigil, Shane Neubauer, Christopher Neubauer and wife, Agripina; and great-grandchildren, Brittney and Quentin Baker. She was also"mom" and"grandma" to many friends of her children and grandchildren and sponsored a child in Ecuador. She was preceded in death by her husband. Otis -- Phillip J. Otis. Phil had a good heart, was very generous, and always supported those around him. Friends remember him doing little things to make birthdays and holidays special. Phil loved nature and being outdoors. He had an adventurous spirit and loved exploring. He enjoyed traveling, scuba diving, sea fishing, whale watching and photography. Phil loved spending time with his pets, especially his two Ridgebacks, Rhoda and Abbie. He also enjoyed working on home improvement projects, even though they weren't always successful. Phil also worked hard, made sacrifices for those he loved, and always encouraged those around him to succeed. He will be missed by all those whose lives he has touched. Prior -- Roger A. Prior, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul W. Prior of New Castle, Indiana, passed away March 29, 2003 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Mr. Prior was born on February 22, 1947 in Evanston, Illinois. He graduated from Seymour High School, Seymour, Indiana, and Indiana State University, Terra Haute, Indiana. Roger loved the Southwestern culture, food, music, animals, the mountains and his dog, Buck. He had an artistic bent and received numerous awards for advertising that appeared in national magazines. He was a man of few words, had a unique sense of humor, and maintained friendships from childhood. In addition to his parents, he is a survived by his brother, Paul W. Prior, Jr. and his wife, Carolyn, of Evansville, Indiana; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.
