Baldonado -- Ram¢n Leon Baldonado, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, died Saturday, January 30, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Mary Viola Baldonado of the family home; son, Thomas Baldonado of Denver, CO; daughters, Patricia Baldonado of Albuquerque and Kathleen Baldonado of Brooklyn, NY; granddaughter, Angela Goolsby of Albuquerque; brother, Reverend Felipe Baldonado of Huntington Beach, CA; sisters, Anna Lund of Alamogordo, NM, Virginia Snodgrass of Phoeniz, AZ, Elisa Dawson of Albuquerque, Elena Duran and husband, Ernest of Thoreau, NM, and Teresita Torres of Tularosa, NM; and numerous other family members and friends. Mr. Baldonado was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Virginia Baldonado; son, John Francis Baldonado; grandson, Randall E. Goolsby; brothers, Luis, Juan and Jose Baldonado; and sister, Mary Sarbo. He was born in Tularosa, NM, on January 15, 1920. Mr. Baldonado was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. He worked as a technical writer for Sandia National Laboratories for 26 years, retiring in 1983. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him. Bell -- (Pate) Jewel (Pate) Bell, 89, passed away on January 31, 1999. She was born in Canadian, OK, October 14, 1909. She moved to Albuquerque in 1986. She is survived by her son, Bob Pate and wife, Wanell; grandchildren, Nicole, Brandi and Chad of Albuquerque; sister, Alice Jennings of Levington, OK; grandchildren, Pam Terry and husband, Tom of Gainsville, FL, Micki Demaline and husband, Shawn of Lawrence, KS and Brenda Sweeny and husband, John of Albuquerque; and 11 great-grandchildren. Jewel was preceded in death by husband, Ray A. Pate at Lake Arthur, NM on January 31, 1972, husband, Alva Bell at Wellston, OK on November 19, 1984; one sister, and four brothers. She was an active 4-H leader and an Extension Homemaker while at Lake Arthur, NM while raising her son. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Bernalillo County 4-H Council, 1510 Menaul NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107. Cain -- Roy W. Cain, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1947, died Monday, February 1, 1999. He is survived by his daughter, Julie Ann Pisto and husband, Tony; and grandson, Cody Pisto; and granddaughter, Sarah Pisto, all of Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hallie in March 1994. Mr. Cain was a member of the Knights of Columbus #4227, where he was a 4th Degree Templer. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge #461, the American Legion, and the Albuquerque Transportation Club. Chavez -- Mrs. Andrea P. Chavez, 85, a lifelong resident of Los Padillas, passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her loving family on February 1, 1999. Mrs. Chavez is survived by her daughters, Demecia Sanchez and husband, Leo and Equilda Chavez and husband, Fred; one son, Joe Frank Chavez; sisters, Cleo P. Garcia and Theresa P. Martinez; brothers, Carmel Padilla and wife, Lina; sisters-in-law, Susanna Padilla and Predicanda Padilla; nine grandchildren, Joe"Manny", Mateo, Fred, Anthony, Ted, A. Melvin, Cindy, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Melissa; 20 great-grandchildren and one on the way; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Chavez was preceded in death by her husband, Magdaleno Chavez; parents, Rafael and Demecia Padilla; a son, Aristeo"Eddie" Chavez; brothers, Julian Padilla, Ralph Padilla and Phil Padilla; and a sister, Celestina P. Lopez. Mrs. Chavez was a member of the Catholic Church, all her grand and great-grandchildren called her Mother. She was a member of the Miracules Medal Association and loved to travel with her grandchildren. Clark -- Lillian E. Clark, 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1928, died Monday, Feburary 1, 1999. She is survived by her daughters, LouAnn Osborne and husband, Victor of Phoenix, AZ and Nadine Nelson of Rio Rancho; son, Owen (Tony) Clark and wife, Diana of Albuquerque; ten grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. Mrs. Clark was preceded in death by her husband, O.D. Clark; three brothers; and one sister. She loved people, gardening and playing cards. Mrs. Clark played cards with the same group of friends for 40 years. Colbert -- JAMES COLBERT 1936-1999Mr. James Colbert, 62, and a resident of Meadow Lake, passed away Tuesday, January 26th. He was born in Anadarko, Oklahoma on February 17, 1936. Jim was a man of the world, having traveled all over this country as a truck driver. He served his country in the U S Army. Mr. Colbert was formerly married to Nancy Mitchell Colbert. James Colbert is survived by his daughters, Brenda Jolly and her husband, Robert of Kansas City, Lisa Martin and her husband, John of Japan; sons, Jerry James Gage Jr. and his wife, Debbie of Arlington, TX, Jeff T. Daily and his wife, Marlow of Albuquerque, Jerry Don Gage and his wife, Aileen of Bosque Farms, and James Patrick Gage and his wife, Peggy of Abilene, TX; sisters, Maggie McElroy, Frances Needham and Gwendolyn Eavans, all of Houston; and 11 grandchildren. Corelli -- Patricia E. Corelli, age 86, of Santa Fe, died Saturday, January 30, 1999. She was born in London, England on March 17, 1912. She was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip C.A. and Clara Estrelle Anderson and her sister, Ola Corelli. Miss Corelli arrived in Santa Fe in 1951 and established the"Jay Street Theatre" and the"Corelli Studios" where she enjoyed a long career as director, actress, painter and teacher of music. She taught hundreds of Santa Feans to play musical instruments including guitar, piano, violin, drums and organ. She conducted the"Junior Assembly" where she instructed young teenagers in both Santa Fe and Los Alamos in ballroom dancing and etiquette. Miss Corelli retired from her teaching career in 1993. She will be greatly missed by all the people to whom she gave the gifts of music, art and friendship. Cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Crespin -- Mr. Antonio"Tony" Crespin died Monday in Albuquerque at the age of 87. Mr. Crespin was originally from Las Vegas, NM and had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1951. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mr. Crespin was preceded in death by his wife, Evangeline Crespin; and daughters, Precilla Romero and Elvira Crespin. He is survived by his daughter, Jennie Jaramillo; sons, Richard Crespin, and Ronald Lucero and wife, Stella, all of Albuquerque; son-in-law, Albino Romero of Pueblo, CO; brother, Pelagio Crespin of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Maxine Watta of Denver, CO and Michael Romero of Pueblo, CO; great-grandchild, Lucas Watta of Pueblo, CO; and great-great-grandchildren, Luke and Arty Rael of San Luis, CO. Funeral services for Mr. Crespin will be held on Thursday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Dayhoff -- Richard M. (Dick) Dayhoff, 77, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning. He is survived by his daughters, Barbara Parker and husband, John of Albuquerque; Virginia Hill and husband, David of Bluewater, NM; sons, Richard J. Dayhoff and wife, Lynne and Russell S. (Harvey) Dayhoff, all of Albuquerque; daughter, Patricia L. Hamilton of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Michael Kemm, Michelle Burros and husband, Chris, Joshua Hill and wife, Nicole, Allison Morris and husband, Robert, Zachary Hill, Kenneth Dayhoff and wife, Heather, Richard (Jimmy) Dayhoff and Shawn Dayhoff; great-grandchild, Oliver Jack Morris and one great-grandson on the way; sisters, Elinor Echlin of Vancouver, WA and Beverly Nelson and husband, Wayne of Portland, OR; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Dayhoff was a graduate of the South Dakota School of Mines and Stanford University. He served with the US Navy during WWII as pilot. Mr. Dayhoff retired from Sandia National Labs. He was an avid sports fan and bowler and he also played golf and bridge. Dwyer -- Shirlee L. Dwyer (Lee), Born September 17, 1929 passed away January 31, 1999, a loving wife and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her son Michael. She is survived by her husband, James J. Dwyer of the family home; son, John P. Dwyer and wife, Judie; two granddaughters, Christine and Laura; her mother, Edna B. Nelson of Antioch, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lee was a charter member of the Albuquerque Legal Secretaries Association, and Albuquerque Legal Administrators Association. Lee was a good friend to all who knew her and will be greatly missed. Fraschilla -- Hazel Florence Fraschilla, 76, a resident of Albuquerque, died on Tuesday, February 2, 1999. Gallegos -- Phillip Allen Gallegos, 43, passed away January 30, 1999 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Phil was stricken with a brain tumor which was identified only days before it took his life. Phil attended St. Mary Grade School and was a graduate of Rio Grande High School in Albuquerque. He completed course work at both the University of New Mexico and Highlands University. Phil also served his country honorably in the Marine Corp. He was a member of the local Laborers Union #872 and was working construction at the Summerlin Resort at the time his cancer became known. Phil is survived by wife, Sandra; mother, Barbara Page and husband, Charles Parent; sister, Charmaigne Riehl and spouse, Ed; brother, David; nieces, Jenina and Monica Carriaga; great-nephew, Salvador Carriaga-Escobar; and aunt, Marlene Luna; counsin, Lisa Luna-Wood; and too many other beloved and special aunts, uncles and cousins to name. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and all those who knew and loved him. Visitations will be held today, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary, on the corner of 8th Street and Iron, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Final viewing will be Thursday morning, from 9:00a.m. till the time of Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal SW. Gardner -- Irene F. Gardner, age 89, passed away at a local hospital on Saturday. She was born in Barberton, Ohio, daughter of Louise and William Larkin. Irene was a very active in Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary, 40 and 8 and many other charitable organizations in which she held important offices. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles, her parents, and her sister Helen. She is survived by her niece Polly Hite of North Canton, Ohio. A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 4, 1999 at 7:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE with Rev. George -- Douglas R. George, 70, died early Friday morning, January 8, 1999. He was preceded in death by his father, Roland R. George; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth A. T. Stiles; his brother, Neil S. George; and his brother-in-law, Clair J. Eichinger Jr. He is survived by his mother, Goldie H. George; his sister, Nancy G. Eichinger; his wife, Judith T. George; his brother-in-law, William G. Tryon; his sister-in-law, Betty George his son, Nicolas K. George; and his nephews, Timothy, Terrence, and William George; Daniel, David, Douglas, John and Mark Eichinger and their wives and children. He was born in Minnesota, graduated from Saint Paul Central High School, and the University of Minnesota with degrees in Pre-med and American Studies. He studied and taught on a Fulbright Scholarship from 1958 to 1960 in Munich, Germany. He taught Art History and in the General Honors Program at the University of New Mexico for 31 years. He was also involved in teaching for many summers at the Ghost Ranch, for Elderhostel, and for the Southwest Institute. In 1990, he received the Humanities Service Award from the New Mexico Endowment for the Humanities for Distinguished Contributions to the Humanities in New Mexico. In 1994, he was the recipient of the University of New Mexico Alumni Association Faculty Award. He cherished beauty in all forms and regarded teaching to be a profession of the highest importance. An avid traveler, he spent many of his last years exploring the lands and cultures of the world. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and students worldwide. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 1999 at the Alumni Memorial Chapel on the University of New Mexico Campus. Friends will be welcomed at a gathering after the service in the second floor foyer of the Department of Art and Art History located in the Fine Arts Building on the UNM Campus. Glass -- John David Glass, 78, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, February 1, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Glass of Albuquerque; sons, John D. Jackson -- Jim Sol Jackson, 50, a resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, January 31, 1999. He is survived by his family, sons, Sol Jackson and wife, Kim of Denver, CO and Eli Jackson of Dover, DE; daughter, Allie Jackson of Greensboro, NC; brothers, Pat Jackson of Amarillo, TX and Joe Jackson of Amarillo, TX; sisters, Jeanine Hibbert of Nucla, CO and Anne Pryde of Sheridan, WY; and several loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Jackson was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army. He was then an Air Traffic Controller for the A.R.T.C.C. for the past 28 years. Leatherman -- Harvey Wayne Leatherman, of Albuquerque, born August 14, 1939 in Raton, NM, passed away at 8:05 p.m., February 1, 1999 in Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque after an extended illness. He is survived by son, Darrel and wife, Holly Leatherman of Oak Harbor, WA; son, Tim and wife, Annette Leatherman of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Jordan Marie; and grandsons, Justin James David and Shane Stephan; parents, Gene and Wilda Bacon Leatherman of Raton; sister, Anna Tranthan and husband, Bill of Raton; brother, Dale and wife, Mary of Silver City; aunt and uncle, William and Neva Baca; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; close friends, Cheri Leonard, Tim and Annis Burns; and a large family of co-workers. Harvey grew up in Las Vegas, NM and graduated from Robertson H.S. in 1957. He was employed most recently by New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union in Albuquerque for 17 years. His hobbies included team penning, fly tying, fishing and hunting. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the American Quarter Horse Assoc. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 9500 Constitution Ave., at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 6, 1999. Lucero -- Sam C. Lucero, 93, beloved father and grandfather, was called home to be with the Lord, Sunday, January 31, 1999. Mr. Lucero was born on December 25, 1905 in Albuquerque; he was one of the first settlers in Los Duranes, at the time known as Las Casitas; he was a parishioner of San Jose Mission de Duranes. He was a loyal employee to St. Joseph Medical Center for 39 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Eloisa Lucero in 1988. He is survived by one son, Vincent Paul Lucero; two daughters, Mary Lou Baca and husband, Ray, Bobbie Lucero, all of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Rene Baca, Stacy Baca Griego and husband, Jude, Vincent Paul Lucero Jr. and wife, Trish. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. Final viewing for Sam will be this morning, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary, on the corner of 8th Street and Stover. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at San Jose Mission de Duranes. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Vincent P. Madrid -- Mrs. Celia V. Madrid, 74, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on January 30, 1999. Mrs. Madrid was the beloved wife of 40 years to Mr. Jose (Joe) Madrid. She is also survived by two sisters, Effie Esham and Eloisa V. Martinez; brother-in-law, Joe V. Madrid and wife, Jeanell of Salt Lake City, UT; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Vigil was a member of the Catholic Church, lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post #122 and Post #13. A Rosary will be recited Thursday morning, 10:00 a.m., at St. Edwins Catholic Church, 2105 Barcelona SW, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edwins Church. Visitation will be at the church after 9:30 a.m. Deacon J.O. Luna will recite the Rosary and Monsignor Sipio Salas will celebrate the Mass. Markus -- Ida E. Markus, age 90, a resident of Albuquerque for 57 years, passed away on February 2, 1999. She is survived by her daughter, Shirl Grayson and husband, Wally of Santa Monica, CA; her son, Jerry Markus and wife, Marlene of Poway, CA; her son-in-law, William Sarnoff of New York, NY; her sister, Mary Gordon of Grand Junction, CO; her brother, Paul Tananbaum of Albuquerque; her 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin; and her daughter, Pam Sarnoff. She was a founding member of Congregation B'nai Israel and the Sisterhood. She was the owner and operator of The Fair Store until age 82. Her life was filled with love for her family, work and travel. A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 4, 1999 at 12:30 p.m. in Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale Blvd. SE, with Rabbi Isaac H. Celnik and Cantor Josh Perlman officiating. A memorial service will be held Thursday evening, 7:30 p.m., at Congregation B'nai Israel. Miller -- Bessie A. Miller, 101, a resident of Albuquerque since 1991, died Tuesday, February 2, 1999. She is survived by her son, Frederick J. Miller of Ontario, NY and William D. Miller of Albuquerque; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick J. Miller; and daughters-in-law, Bernadine Miller and Rose Anna Miller. Mrs. Miller retired from Rochester Telephone Co. in Rochester, NY with 40 years of service. After she retired from Rochester Telephone Co. she worked for an additional ten years as a switchboard operator at Rochester General Hospital. After she moved to Albuquerque, she enjoyed playing bingo at Palo Verde and Bear Canyon Senior Centers. She had been a resident of Sandia Manor Care Nursing Center since 1994. Her cheerful, outgoing nature will be missed by the many people who knew her. Rosary will be recited Wednesday, 4:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Papen -- Helen Elizabeth Parrish Papen, 82, passed away on January 27, 1999. God has taken back the gentle soul he loaned to us. Mrs. Papen came to Las Vegas, NM from Chicago, IL in 1938 to marry her husband, John A. Papen Jr., who was a member of an early New Mexico pioneering family. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1965. She was an avid reader, letter writer, and supreme patron, lover and collector of art. She was genuinely interested in people of all ages and from various backgrounds. She was an"other people" person. She had determination, quiet strength and grace. The greatest of all her loves, were her children. She is survived by the following family members who loved her dearly and will miss her forever, and ever, and a day, her sister, Marjorie Parrish Sack of South Bend, IN; children, Marcella Boushelle and husband, Paul of Albuquerque, John A. Papen and wife, Margy of Las Cruces, Mollie Eatinger and husband, John and Bridget Papen, all of Albuquerque, Frank Papen of Phoenix, AZ, Terry Papen and wife, Rhonda, and Margo Litts and husband, George, all of Albuquerque; and many loving and caring grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Purcella -- Marie Victoria ("Tiny") 55 years. A resident of Albuquerque, passed away on January 30, 1999. She was preceded in death by her parents, Candelaria Martinez and Herminio Martinez; and one sister, Silva Abeyta. She is survived by her husband, Pete Purcella; and two sons, Bobby Purcella, Jerry Purcella and wife, Annadeine; five grandchildren, Robert, Joshua, Tammy, Tanya and Felicia; aunt, Prisca Valencia; step-mother, Petra (Patsy) Martinez; sister, Sandra McAfee; three brothers, Gilbert Botello, Steve Martinez and Lawrence Martinez; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Vicky touched the lives of hundreds of people and will be deeply missed by all. She was employed by the Department of Labor for 25 years until her retirement. Richardson -- Nanci Mae Richardson, 55, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, February 1, 1999. She was born in Pueblo, CO on February 18, 1943. She is survived by her daughters, Kathy House and husband, Sean of Rio Rancho and Sherri Bingert and husband, John of Jemez Springs; son, Bill Richardson of Albuquerque; mother, Margaret Cable of Canon City, CO; sister, Mary Margaret Hewes and husband, George of Littlestown, PA; brother, David Pitcher and wife, Jan of Wichita, KS; four grandchildren, Andrew, Emily, Shelby and Cobi; and many close friends and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Richardson; and her father, William Marion Pitcher. Rosingana -- Leonard John Rosingana, age 51, of Santa Fe, died on Monday, February 1, 1999. He became an eagle scout in 1964 and received a BS from San Jose State University in 1970. Leonard had been actively involved in the wine industry, both in California and New Mexico since the 1970s. He and his brother, Harry, co-founded Stony Ridge Winery, Pleasonton, California in 1975. He was a pioneer in the emergence of the New Mexico wine industry and started the first modern winery in Santa Fe. In 1982, he founded Santa Fe Vineyards. Santa Fe Vineyards has long been famous for it's award winning wines and distinctive bottle labels created specially for it by New Mexico artist, Amado Pena. Len was president of the New Mexico Wine Growers Association for six years and worked tirelessly to further the wine industry in New Mexico. Len was generous and devoted to his family, friends, neighbors and community. He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna; his loving daughters, Jamie Lyn, Cara Leah and Mia Lenna of Santa Fe; parents, Nellie and Al Rosingana of Sunnyvale, CA; sister, Linda Ramirez and family, Joe, Jacob, Jessica and Elisha Ramirez of Dundee, OR; brothers, Harry Rosingana and wife, Rhea, their children, Tanya Safier and Bill Rosingana of San Jose, CA and Darryl Rosingana of Union City, CA; in-laws, LG (Stretch) and Sarah Boles of Santa Fe; and sisters-in-law, Judy Boles (JB) Pena and husband, Amado Pena, Jr. and Linda Boles Morgan and husband, Harvey Morgan II of Santa Fe. Salaz -- José de Jesus Luis Salaz, born June 3, 1906, passed away on February 1, 1999. Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nellie V. Salaz; daughter, Dorothy Lucero and husband, Raymond; sons, José (Bobby) Salaz and wife, Mina and Reyes Salaz, all of Albuquerque; brothers, Nick Esquibel and wife, Anastasia of Barstow, CA, Levi Esquibel and wife, Susie; sister, Adeliada Mirabal and husband, Tony; special nephew, Ralph Padilla. He was born in Abo, NM to Juanita Sisneros and Jose Salaz. He graduated from Belen High School. He taught school in Torrance County for 25 years. He moved to Albuquerque in 1950. Family and friends will remember him best for his garden in the North Valley. He will be sadly missed by him many friends and family. A special thanks to Presbyterian Hospice. Vokes -- Dolores Gorka Vokes, age 65, passed away on January 27, 1999. Dolores was born in Wharton County, Texas on December 11, 1933 to Felix and Erna Gorka. She is survived by her sons, Mark Vokes, wife, Diane and children, Ren and Alex of Grand Prairie, TX, Mike Vokes of Arlington, TX; daughter, Marie Anne Dierke of Rio Rancho; brother, James and wife, Betty Gorka of Richmond, TX; niece, Diana Gorka Hall of Missouri City, TX; nephew, David Gorka of Austin, TX; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins in Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Erna Gorka; her brother, Joe Gorka; and son-in-law, Dub Dierke. Dolores graduated with her BA from Sam Houston State in Huntsville, TX, her MBA from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, TX and was listed in Who's Who Among American Students. Before retirement she was employed as a elementary school teacher in Houston, Abilene, and Lubbock, TX. She was a volunteer at St. Martins, Joy Junction and Barrett House.
