Obituary for Vokes

Dolores Gorka Vokes, age 65, passed away on January 27, 1999. Dolores was born in Wharton County, Texas on December 11, 1933 to Felix and Erna Gorka. She is survived by her sons, Mark Vokes, wife, Diane and children, Ren and Alex of Grand Prairie, TX, Mike Vokes of Arlington, TX; daughter, Marie Anne Dierke of Rio Rancho; brother, James and wife, Betty Gorka of Richmond, TX; niece, Diana Gorka Hall of Missouri City, TX; nephew, David Gorka of Austin, TX; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins in Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Erna Gorka; her brother, Joe Gorka; and son-in-law, Dub Dierke. Dolores graduated with her BA from Sam Houston State in Huntsville, TX, her MBA from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, TX and was listed in Who's Who Among American Students. Before retirement she was employed as a elementary school teacher in Houston, Abilene, and Lubbock, TX. She was a volunteer at St. Martins, Joy Junction and Barrett House. She published recipe books of president's wives favorite White House dishes. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 4, 1999, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., in the chapel of Rio Rancho Funeral Home.
