Chavez -- Mrs. Andrea P. Chavez, 85, a lifelong resident of Los Padillas, passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her loving family on February 1, 1999. Mrs. Chavez is survived by her daughters, Demecia Sanchez and husband, Leo and Equilda Chavez and husband, Fred; one son, Joe Frank Chavez; sisters, Cleo P. Garcia and Theresa P. Martinez; brothers, Carmel Padilla and wife, Lina; sisters-in-law, Susanna Padilla and Predicanda Padilla; nine grandchildren, Joe"Manny", Mateo, Fred, Anthony, Ted, A. Melvin, Cindy, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Melissa; 20 great-grandchildren and one on the way; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Chavez was preceded in death by her husband, Magdaleno Chavez; parents, Rafael and Demecia Padilla; a son, Aristeo"Eddie" Chavez; brothers, Julian Padilla, Ralph Padilla and Phil Padilla; and a sister, Celestina P. Lopez. Mrs. Chavez was a member of the Catholic Church, all her grand and great-grandchildren called her Mother. She was a member of the Miracules Medal Association and loved to travel with her grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW, in charge of the arrangements. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at the Church of the Ascension, 2150 Raymac SW, with visitation after 6:30 p.m. The Legion of Mary will recite the Rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday morning, 11:00 a.m., at Church of Ascension, 2150 Raymac SW, with final visitation at the church from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Father Anthony Bolman, Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Los Padillas Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joseph M. Chavez, Mateo Sanchez, Fred A. Chavez, Ted Sanchez, Mateo Valdez and Rick Chavez. Honorary will be all her great-grandchildren. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW, in charge of the arrangements.
