Obituary for Salaz

José de Jesus Luis Salaz, born June 3, 1906, passed away on February 1, 1999. Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nellie V. Salaz; daughter, Dorothy Lucero and husband, Raymond; sons, José (Bobby) Salaz and wife, Mina and Reyes Salaz, all of Albuquerque; brothers, Nick Esquibel and wife, Anastasia of Barstow, CA, Levi Esquibel and wife, Susie; sister, Adeliada Mirabal and husband, Tony; special nephew, Ralph Padilla. He was born in Abo, NM to Juanita Sisneros and Jose Salaz. He graduated from Belen High School. He taught school in Torrance County for 25 years. He moved to Albuquerque in 1950. Family and friends will remember him best for his garden in the North Valley. He will be sadly missed by him many friends and family. A special thanks to Presbyterian Hospice. Pallbearers will be Ray Lucero Jr., Gerald Lucero, Martin Lucero, Christopher Lucero, José Salaz, Jr., Marcos Salaz, Robert Salaz and great-grandson Matthew Salaz Luna. All other grand and great-grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers. Rosary will be held Tuesday, February 2, 1999, 7:00 p.m., at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church and funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 3, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Moriarty, NM. In lieu of flower donations may be made to Saint Vincent de Paul. Services at entrusted to Alameda Mortuary, 9420 4th Street, Gary F. Santillanes, 898-3160.
