Obituary for Rosingana

Leonard John Rosingana, age 51, of Santa Fe, died on Monday, February 1, 1999. He became an eagle scout in 1964 and received a BS from San Jose State University in 1970. Leonard had been actively involved in the wine industry, both in California and New Mexico since the 1970s. He and his brother, Harry, co-founded Stony Ridge Winery, Pleasonton, California in 1975. He was a pioneer in the emergence of the New Mexico wine industry and started the first modern winery in Santa Fe. In 1982, he founded Santa Fe Vineyards. Santa Fe Vineyards has long been famous for it's award winning wines and distinctive bottle labels created specially for it by New Mexico artist, Amado Pena. Len was president of the New Mexico Wine Growers Association for six years and worked tirelessly to further the wine industry in New Mexico. Len was generous and devoted to his family, friends, neighbors and community. He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna; his loving daughters, Jamie Lyn, Cara Leah and Mia Lenna of Santa Fe; parents, Nellie and Al Rosingana of Sunnyvale, CA; sister, Linda Ramirez and family, Joe, Jacob, Jessica and Elisha Ramirez of Dundee, OR; brothers, Harry Rosingana and wife, Rhea, their children, Tanya Safier and Bill Rosingana of San Jose, CA and Darryl Rosingana of Union City, CA; in-laws, LG (Stretch) and Sarah Boles of Santa Fe; and sisters-in-law, Judy Boles (JB) Pena and husband, Amado Pena, Jr. and Linda Boles Morgan and husband, Harvey Morgan II of Santa Fe. He is also survived by countless friends that have become family. A Rosary will be recited on Saturday, February 6, 1:00 p.m., at Berardinelli Family Funeral Chapel. Following the Rosary a celebration of his life will be held at the family residence. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Len Rosingana Memorial Fund, P.O.
