Papen -- Helen Elizabeth Parrish Papen, 82, passed away on January 27, 1999. God has taken back the gentle soul he loaned to us. Mrs. Papen came to Las Vegas, NM from Chicago, IL in 1938 to marry her husband, John A. Papen Jr., who was a member of an early New Mexico pioneering family. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1965. She was an avid reader, letter writer, and supreme patron, lover and collector of art. She was genuinely interested in people of all ages and from various backgrounds. She was an"other people" person. She had determination, quiet strength and grace. The greatest of all her loves, were her children. She is survived by the following family members who loved her dearly and will miss her forever, and ever, and a day, her sister, Marjorie Parrish Sack of South Bend, IN; children, Marcella Boushelle and husband, Paul of Albuquerque, John A. Papen and wife, Margy of Las Cruces, Mollie Eatinger and husband, John and Bridget Papen, all of Albuquerque, Frank Papen of Phoenix, AZ, Terry Papen and wife, Rhonda, and Margo Litts and husband, George, all of Albuquerque; and many loving and caring grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. God bless you Oma. Rosary will be recited Thursday, February 4, 1999, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas NE.
