Baca -- Margaret C. Baca"Nana", 87, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 1998. She was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Albuquerque. Nana was such a loving, giving, caring and thoughtful person, always doing for others, family and friends. In spite of her own health problems, she always thought of others before herself. Her generosity of time, spirit, and faith was an inspiration to all who knew her. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Baca in June, 1997; and her grandson, Phillip in July, 1998; her brother, Eloy Romero; and one sister, Erlinda Sandoval, both of Los Lunas. She is survived by her three children, Consuelo Baca and her husband, Joe A. Baca of Los Lunas, Carlos Baca and his wife, Gloria C. Baca of Albuquerque, and Lila Tallon and her husband, Roger of Albuquerque. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Viewing will be held on Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at Romero Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited on Monday, 7:30 p.m., at the San Clemente Catholic Church in Los Lunas. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., also at the San Clemente Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Los Lentes Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Carlos Baca Jr., Christopher Baca, Dennis F. Baca, David R. Baca, Paul Tallon and Dennis Sandoval, her nephew. Romero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Barnett -- James Matthew Barnett, 35, died Monday, August 31, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Chantel Barnett; son, Cole Matthew; daughter, Presley Victoria, all of Tucson, AZ; dad, L.D. Barnett; brother, Vincent Barnett; nephew, Andrew James, all of Albuquerque; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mom, Grace Barnett. James was a graduate of Manzano High School and Southern Arkansas University, where he played baseball for both schools. He worked for State Farm and was a national disaster adjuster and trainer. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Dora Segura officiating. Bibeau -- Anna S. Bibeau, 96, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 1998. She and her husband, Ed, moved to Albuquerque in 1947. That same year, the opened and operated Ed's Super Market, a neighborhood grocery store, on 1418 Grand NE. Anna was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and when her husband preceded her in death in 1965, it was her brave spirit and her deep faith that guided her through the years. in 1992, Anna became a resident of Mission Manor and through the help of the staff, she participated in new activities, made new friends, and still enjoyed the visits of family and old friends. Anna will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Fernand A. Bibeau and his wife, Phyllis, Claire M. Blankenship and her husband, Clarence, and Edward E. Bibeau and his wife, Bonnie; two sisters, Eva Marquis of Nashua, NH and Juliette Coddington of Albuquerque; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. A Celebration of her life will be held Monday, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Pastor Clarence Blankenship officiating. Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 9:30 a.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Pl. SE, with Father Normand Falardeau, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Brown -- Nadine Brown, 73, passed away Thursday, September 3, 1998, in Green Valley, AZ, after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her son, R.C. Brown and wife, Elaine of Green Valley, AZ; daughter, Debra Wilmot of Bosque Farms; sisters, Louise Caspell of Abilene, TX, and Marcy Galbreath and Catherine Myers, both of Tucson, AZ; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray W. Brown in 1989. Mrs. Brown owned the Moccasin Shop in Old Town for 25 years with her husband, Ray, retiring in 1994. She was an active member of the Old Town Merchants Associations for many years. We will miss her. Cook -- Robert A. Cook, 71, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 1998. He was born February 2, 1927 in Dorothy, West Virginia, and grew up in Mt. Harris, Colorado. The Cooks moved to Los Lunas 22 years ago. Survivors include Jean M. Cook, his wife of 46 years; his daughter, Jeanette Cook and husband, Don Helfrich of Albuquerque; his sons, Bruce H. Cook and wife, Cari F. Reiche of Albuquerque and Craig S. Cook and wife, Jamey Cook of Los Lunas; grandchildren, Lisa, Jenna and JoDean Cook of Montana, Cade and Kalyn Wormington and Anja Helfrich of Albuquerque, Kathryn Cook of Albuquerque and Ashley Cook of Los Lunas. Preceding Mr. Cook in death were his sons, Robbie Cook and Art Cook. A veteran, he served four years with the US Navy during WWII. Following graduation from Colorado State University in 1951. He moved to Montana, where he began his 35 year career with the U.S. Forest Service. After retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and was an avid golfer and gardener. A private family memorial service was held with Fr. George Bach of St. Philips Episcopal Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the ALS Assn., (Lou Gehrig's Disease), c/o 8525 Princess Jeanne NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112. Craft -- Beatrice L. Craft, born December 17, 1922, passed away at her home in Belen, NM after struggling with heart disease for several years, August 30, 1998. She is survived by her husband, Joseph L. Craft of Belen, NM, one son, David Craft and wife, Jill of Beverton, Oregon; and two grandsons, Schuyler Craft and Paxton Craft. Bea moved to NM after retiring from the General Council of the Assemblies of God Foreign Missions Department in Springfield, Missouri. After working for several years for the Field of Africa as a secretary, she continued to maintain many friendships and loving support for missionaries to Africa. Services and burial will be in St. Helens, Oregon on September 3, 1998. There will also be a Memorial Service held at the Belen First Assembly of God Church at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 8th. Faculjak -- John Steven Faculjak Sr., 80, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 28 years, went home to his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, September 2, 1998. John was born December 28, 1917, the son of Frank and Agnes Bakic Faculjak in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As a youth, John worked as a cowboy on a ranch in Colorado. There he learned to make saddles and other leather goods which he shared with many people throughout his lifetime. He fought in the South Pacific during WWII with the 32nd Calvary Division of the US Army. John's life was characterized by an enduring passion to overcome adversity and his upbeat cheerfulness. John was preceded in death by his son, John Jr. in 1985; and his wife, Jackie in 1996. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Mary Keane and husband, Tim and their children, Megan, Michael and Molly of Brookfield, WI, Joan Bustos and husband, Phillip and their children, Matthew, Aimee and Lisa of Albuquerque; his son, Paul and wife, Debbie and their son, Eloy of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Zia and Zane Faculjak of Albuquerque, in addition, John is survived by a sister and brother in Wisconsin and many other family and friends. We thank God your suffering had ended, Dad, and by God's grace you are at home with Him. (Ephesians 2:8, 9) A visitation will be held Friday, September 4, 1998, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., in the chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd., at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. Faris -- Richard (Raschid) S. Faris was born on August 26, 1952. On Friday, September 4, 1998, he went to be with our Lord, at the age of 46. Richard was preceded in death by his father, Frank E. Faris and his daughter, Elizabeth Ann. He is survived by his mother, Sophie (Koury) Faris of Albuquerque; sons, Richard, Christopher, Jake, Kameron, Kody, Kyle; daughter, Ashley; brothers Frank Faris and Michael Faris and his wife, Rhonda of Albuquerque; sisters, Camille Stueber and husband, John of Albuquerque, Sandy Lloyd of Seattle, Sheila Bernardoni and husband, Jim of Albuquerque and Shaylyn Graves and husband, Ricco of Seattle; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and one great-niece. Richard was a very generous and loving person and father and he had an excellent sense of humor and an uncomparable witt which he shared with everyone he met. Richard will be missed for these and many other qualities, but the family takes solace in the fact that Richard is enjoying the peace and joy that only heaven can offer. Services will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 1998 at 4:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. The services will be presided over by Rev. Ron Mansdoerfer and Rev. Eddie Lee. Fleming -- Sidney D. (Sid) Fleming passed away September 2 at the age of 88. His youth was spent on the family ranch near Artesia where Sid attended high school. During WWII he worked for Douglas Aircraft at their plant in Los Angeles. Near the end of the war Sid moved to Albuquerque where he and his brother started a house painting business. After retirement he converted his fiddle-making hobby into an after retirement profession which gave him and his wife, Kay, the opportunity to travel to fiddle contests all over the country. In addition to competing in the contests, Sid also enjoyed the opportunity to display his many handmade instruments. He was often called on to help his fellow fiddlers by making on the spot repairs to their instruments. He was honored by induction into the Old Time Fiddlers Hall of Fame. Sid has now joined his beloved Kay in that great ever after where Old Time Fiddlers go to play for the Master. He is survived by his daughter, Tenna Daliposon of Santa Clara, California; two sons, Rev. Charles Windsor of Springerville, AZ, and James Windsor of Clovis, CA; nine grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren; a nephew, Buddy Fleming of Estanchia; and a niece, Ginger Hamaker of Colorado. Internment will be in Lovington, NM. If you so desire, make contributions in Sid's honor to the charity of your choice. Gallegos -- Kenneth E. Gallegos, 32, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died September 4, 1998. He is survived by his five sisters, Glenda Maynes, Adeline Avilla, Antoinette Christinalli, Rosie Salazar and Martha Gallegos; three brothers, Michael, Robert and Raymond Gallegos; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. He was a member of the Catholic Church and graduated from the Catholic University in Washington, DC. Kenneth graduated form St. Pius High School. Garcia -- Flora S. Garcia, 93, a resident of Las Cruces, NM and formerly of Albuquerque and a native of the Old Town Area, passed away early Saturday morning. Mrs. Garcia was preceded in death by her parents, Tomas and Clarita Luna Serna; her husband, Bennie L. Garcia; three brothers, Frank, Bobbie and Thomas Serna; three sisters, Rose Lovato, Charlotte Serna, Beatrice Sedillo; one granddaughter, Donna Louise Cordova; a son-in-law Richard Robles; one godchild, Freddie Sedillo. She is survived by one son, Eloy Serna; five daughters, Carmen Duree, Josephine Robles and husband, Roberto, Lupe Robles, Margie Cordova and husband, Tony and Viola Garcia. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning at 10 a.m., also at the church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Gilmer -- Evelyn A. Gilmer, 83, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, September 2, 1998. She had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1930. She was born December 21, 1914 in Judsonia, AK to Walter and Elsie Gray. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orvis; son, Richard Gilmer; and two granddaughters, Bonnie Gilmer and Karrie Hoffman. She is survived by her brother, Gene Gray and wife, Betty of Santa Fe, NM; her daughter, Carolyn Ogle and husband, Garry, Albuquerque; daughter-in-law, Wanda Gilmer, Boulder, CO; three grandchildren, Jim Geddes and wife, Michelle, Tim Gilmer, and Kathleen Cristiani, husband, David; grandson-in-law, Curt Hoffman and great-grandson, Kyle Gilmer; her brother-in-law, Frank Gilmer, Albuquerque; and several nieces and nephews. She was a longtime member of Garfield Gospel Chapel, but in recent years was attending Calvary Chapel with her daughter, Carolyn. Evelyn's parents started Gray's Flower Shop and she worked there for over 60 years. She took over the management of this shop as co-owner with her brother in 1984 and continued there until her retirement in 1994. She was a very outgoing and loving person and her continual humming will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Funeral services were held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Chapel with Pastor Paul Kemp officiating. Pallbearers will be family members, Jim Geddes, Curt Hoffman, Tim Gilmer, Tom Gray, Don Gray and Frank Gilmer. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Haig -- Elizabeth Jean Haig-Bramlett, 47, a lifetime resident of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday, August 30, in Duncan, Arizona. She is survived by her father, Clifford Haig and wife, Sally of Albuquerque; a son, Gary Paul Thomas of Seattle, WA; daughter, Alyce Katherine Schmadeke and husband, Arron of Kelseyville, CA; grandchildren, Ashley, Austin and Alexus Schmadeke of Kelseyville, CA; sister, Marta White of Albuquerque; brother, Ric Haig of Albuquerque; and many nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Haig; and brother, Peter Haig. Elizabeth was a kind, caring and loving person. She will be missed by all. Hastings -- Zenos William"Bill" Hastings, 72, of Alamogordo, died Monday, August 31, 1998 at Gerald Champion Memorial Hospital in Alamogordo. Mr. Hastings was born March 20, 1926 in Butler, Oklahoma. He moved to Alamogordo in 1994 after living in Lubbock, Texas, Rio Rancho, and Albuquerque. He was a retired vice-president of sales and marketing for Tri-State Motor Transit Company. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. Survivors include his wife, Lenore Hastings of the family home; three sons, William Richard Hastings of Chama, Robert Joel Hastings and his wife, Cathy of Austin, TX, James Arthur Hastings of Albuquerque; two daughters, Cheryl Joye Manson and her husband, Andy of Chama, and Carol Sue Wallis and her husband, Jay of Chama; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Raymond Ellis Hastings and his wife, Elna Mae of Worthington, IN, Arthur Truman Hastings and his wife, Ruth of Las Cruces, and Loyal Dee Hastings and his wife, Janice of Glendale, AZ; and two sisters, Mildred Genevieve Iverson and her husband, Halbert of Centerville, UT and Ina Wanabelle Iverson and her husband, Donald of Bountiful, UT. Holt -- Jeanine Holt died peacefully at home Thursday, surrounded by family and friends after a courageous fight with cancer. She is survived by her devoted husband, D.B.; and daughters, Donna Emanouil, Spart, MI, Jeanne Sue Wooldridge, Albuquerque, and Darla Holt of the family home in Flint, TX; three grandsons, Jason Emanouil, Jack Abernethy and Blake Wooldridge; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Helen Mosier, Brock, TX; brothers, James Rogers and Homer Rogers Jr., Bryson, TX. Jeanine touched the lives of hundreds of people. Her love of life, her family, her friends and animals was uncommonly strong. A native of Texas, she made a loving, supportive home for her family wherever and whenever husband, D.B., was transferred with his long career in the grocery business. Jeanine and her family recently moved to Lake Palestine, where she designed and furnished their retirement home. Except for her early childhood, she was a life long resident of Albuquerque, and a 1939 graduate of Albuquerque High School. Her work life included Maisel's Jewelry, The Kress Co., The Harry Cornelius Co., and Hill Miller/San Juan/ICX Freight Lines. She was lovingly known to friends as Vicki, and to family as Mazie, Auntie, and Granny. Mrs. Hood is survived by her daughter SanDee and son-in-law Jim Robinson of Albuquerque; and two grandchildren, Amber Robinson, presently of Albuquerque, and Capt. Dwight Robinson and wife, Kim of White Sands Missle Range, NM. Also surviving Mrs. Hood are her sister Lois Maddox of Sunnyvale, CA, and nieces Cathy LaFayette and Lynn Tietze, also of California; her brother John E. Love, and aunt Elsie Kent, both of Arlington, TX; her brother Thomas Gwin of Colorado and nieces Cynthia, Jennifer, and Stephanie; and also aunts Tommie and Betty Jean of Texas and Clovis, NM respectively. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 30 years, Gerald C. Hood; her parents Roger and Dovie Love; her granddaughter Holly Robinson; and nephew Scott Maddox. He attended Albuquerque Public Schools and served with the 1st Marine Division in Korea. He retired from Mt. Bell Telephone in 1983 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Johnson -- Edward Leroy Johnson, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, passed away on September 2, 1998. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Taylor Johnson, a well-known gardener, flower show exhibitor and judge. Also preceding him in death were his parents, Edward D. and Mayme Axelson Johnson of Burlington, Iowa; a sister, Dorothy; and a brother, Richard. He is survived by two sisters, Miriam Morley of Sacramento, CA and Roberta Hall of Fullerton, CA; three nephews and a niece. Locally, he is survived by his wife's niece, Ernestine (Tina) Clark and her husband, Elmer; and a nephew, James P. Roy and his wife, Jan, all of whom have been generous in their attention and support as he became more aged and infirm. Mr. Johnson was retired from Sandia National Laboratories in 1973. He served as treasurer of the Council of Albuquerque Garden Clubs in 1974-75 when the Council was building the Albuquerque Garden Center. He was a member of the Albuquerque Rose Society since 1952 and served as president in 1973-74. He enjoyed his wife's interest in horticulture, her support of flower shows and her judging of local, state and national flower and rose shows. Laughingly he described himself as a"gardener by marriage." Cremation has been carried out by Sunrise Society. His ashes will be interred beside Ruth in the Riverside Cemetery, Loman, MN. Memorial services to be held at the Albuquerque Garden Center on Sunday, September 13 at 2:00 p.m.

Kasworm -- Herma Johnson Kasworm, daughter of George and Ila Johnson, born January 26, 1912 in St. Louis, MO, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 198. A graduate of Harris Teachers College, St. Louis, with graduate studies at St. Louis University and Stanford University, her teaching career included assignments with St. Louis Public Schools, School for the Handicapped in St. Louis, public and private schools in San Mateo County, CA, and public schools in Guam, Marianas Islands. She served on active duty as an officer in the United States Navy at San Francisco from 1943 to 1946, and in Reserve status until 1956. Mrs. Kasworm was a Civil Service employee of the Navy in San Francisco as a traffic manager for Armed Forces Petroleum Logistics from 1947 to 1949. She married Martin A. Kasworm on March 19, 1949 in Banning, CA. As the wife of a Navy Officer, she joined her husband whenever possible at his various duty stations in the United States and overseas, and was an active member of Navy wives organizations. Following her husband's retirement from Navy service in 1962, they lived in Menlo Park, CA and St. George, UT, before moving to Albuquerque in 1991. Survivors include her husband, Martin A. Kasworm; a brother, Dr. Joseph E. Johnson of Albuquerque; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Fernwood of San Anselmo, CA; and eight nieces and nephews. Conforming to prior wishes stated by the deceased, there will be no public viewing or funeral. Cremation arrangements are in the care of Sunrise Society, (891-8200).

Kerlee -- Charles William (C.W.) Kerlee, 82, born February 15, 1916, passed away August 27, 1998. He was preceded in death by his father, Olious Lee and mother, Florence Ann; wife, Leslie; brother, Lee; sisters, Dolly and Deloras. He retired from Carpenters Local 1319. He was a construction superintendent in the area, building numerous projects. He took pride in his work, hiring many apprentice carpenters which are still outstanding craftsmen today. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing with his friends and family. Meek -- Michael James Meek, on loan from God for 47 years, beloved son and firstborn of Frances Torres Meek and James E. Meek, passed away in Anchorage, AK on Sunday, August 30, 1998. Michael suffered fatal head injuries from a fall and never regained consciousness; he passed peacefully with his parents at his bedside. Michael attended St. Mary's High School until it's closing, then went to Valley High School, graduating in 1969. He received his degree from the University of New Mexico in 1973, having attended on a full scholarship the entire four years. Michael was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He moved to Anchorage, AK 23 years ago and became a popular member of the community, belonging to organizations that raised great amounts of money for the Children's Hospital in Anchorage. He spearheaded many good causes. Michael is survived by his parents, Frances T. and Jim Meek; grandmother, Adelina Torres; paternal grandmother, Reynalda Lopez; brothers, Ronald Meek and Andrew F. Meek; sister, Christine Davis; brother-in-law, Tom Davis; and nieces, Sara Davis, Lisa Davis, and Lindsey Meek. He was preceded in death by his beloved"grandpa", P.S. Torres; and his aunt, Gloria D."Corky" Torres. Michael leaves a multitude of friends throughout Alaska who were all there for Mike and his parents. Moore -- Martha Ruth Mullinax Moore was born December 25, 1911 to Mary Girdner Mullinax and Charles I. Mullinax on Paradise Valley Farm near Princeton, Missouri. She spend her early life in Princeton, graduating from Princeton Schools. She graduated from Christian College, Columbia Missouri and the University of Missouri and later attended the College of Santa Fe and New Mexico Eastern University. She married Dr. Robert D. Moore on May 6, 1934. The became the parents of three children, Wood Mullinax Moore, Linda Frances Moore and Joseph Curtis Moore. She taught in the Ruidoso school system for 30 years before retiring where she received national recognition for her school art projects. In 1982 she was elected to the South East National Education of New Mexico Hall of Fame. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Moore; and son, Wood Mullinax Moore. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Moore Caldwell; son, Joe Moore; three granddaughters, Mary Anna Moore, Tracy Tafoya and Karrie Pierson; six great-grandchildren, Sage Moore, Amy Moore, Brittany Tafoya, Emily Tafoya, Katherine Pierson and Joseph Pierson. She was a member of P.E.O., honorary teachers sorority, Alpha Delta Kappa, she served as president of Beta Sigma Phi, the Pink Ladies and the Ruidoso Education Association. Mueller -- Jimmy Price Mueller, age 53, died late Saturday at his home in Humble, Texas from a massive coronary. Jim was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the son of school teacher Annie Laurie Lindsay, and German immigrant Harry Herman Price Mueller. Both of his parents preceded him. He graduated from Highland High School, earned his bachelors degree at the University of New Mexico, and his masters degree from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania while on fellowship. Jim also earned an EED education degree from Harvard that same year. He was a recognized scholar, historian and author in History. While in Albuquerque Jim was an avid sportsman, playing both high school and college ball, and also a short tour on the professional bowling circuit. After graduating, Jim returned to Albuquerque to teach. He opened Eldorado High School on it's first day, then transferred to Sandia High School as an administrator for eleven years. In 1979 Jim signed on with the Santa Fe Railroad in Amarillo, Texas, following his Dad's long career there and became a third generation railroader. He worked his way up from territory claims agent to Claims Manager for Louisiana and central and south Texas. Jim was recognized by his peers in 1992 and was presented with the Wellman Award for excellence in claims handling at a national level. Jim met his wife, Lin Houghton through the school system in Albuquerque, and began a blissful twenty-two year honeymoon. Their son Carlton Price was born in Albuquerque, and John Lindsay was born in Amarillo, Texas. Jim was a devoted husband and father, and preferred the company of his family above all else. Most of his free time was spent coaching both sons through various athletic programs. He touched many other young lives in the process. He is survived by his wife and two sons, and cousins from the Milam family in Farmington, New Mexico, his mother-in-law, Shari Houghton of San Antonio, Texas, and many brother and sisters-in-law whom were close to him. Additionally, he leaves behind many system-wide colleagues dear to him, friends from many walks of life and a job that he was totally committed to 150%. He also leaves a legacy of expertise, integrity, and a commitment to his vocation, living life to the fullest, in which no person was a stranger. Memorial services will be held Thursday, September 3, 1998 at 3:30 p.m. at the Rosewood Funeral Home, 2602 Old Humble Road. Noe -- Funeral services for Katie Noe (Katherine Schultz Winders), 93, of Gallup, will be held Tuesday, September 8, 1998 at 10:30 a.m., at the Little Sisters of the Poor-Guadalupe Villa Chapel in Gallup, NM. Father Edward Richmond will officiate. Burial will follow at the Sunset Memorial Park in Gallup, NM. For the past several years she had been a resident at the Little Sisters of the Poor Care Center. She was a lifelong resident of Gallup and McKinley County. Katherine was born in the family home in Gallup on May 7, 1905 and she died on September 4, 1998 at the Little Sisters of the Poor after a lengthy illness. With the death of her mother and brother in 1912, she and her sister, Margaret moved to their grandparents home in Navajo. When the Winders family was transferred to the Gibson mining community, Katie attended the Gibson School through the eighth grade. The extended family returned to their residence on Hill Street in Gallup where she could continue her schooling. Katherine Winders was one of 11 graduates from Gallup High School-the only High School in McKinley County in 1921. Katie and Thomas Clark Noe were married in the Winders home in 1924. Their son, Robert, was born a year later. Katie Noe continued her employment at the Cotton Mercantile following marriage, working through the many facets of the Cotton Mercantile operation. The next 20 years she was employed by C.N. Cotton, Gross-Kelly, Charles Ilfield Co., Gallup Mercantile, C.G. Wallace Indian Trading at Zuni and Gallup. At Zuni, Katie was the first woman to buy Zuni crafts directly from the makers. Word of mouth soon spread the information of her honesty, craft knowledge, and insistence upon fine workmanship from Zuni, across the Navajo country, the Western and Rio Grande Pueblos. Katie became the first woman in Gallup in 1953 to start and own outright a trading enterprise. She opened"The Zuni Shop" for retail and wholesale of the finest Native American craft created by regional artisans. While conducting the business of a successful craft outlet, Katie became very active at the state and national level lobbying to protect authentic Indian Hand Made Jewelry from imitation or manufactured copies. She was very instrumental in securing the first statewide and subsequently nationwide legislation to protect and identify by makers Hallmarks authentic Handmade Native American Jewelry and craft. Owner of The Zuni Shop, Katie entered the finest of regional craft in competitions at the New Mexico State Fair, the Navajo Tribal Fair, the Zuni-McKinley County Fair, and the Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial. One year her fine entries for the Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial collected 103 ribbons and 11 special awards. The quality of her craft choices made The Zuni Shop a major supplier to the Department of Interior Shop in Washington, DC. Katie's knowledge of turquoise, silver, pottery, Navajo rugs, Pueblo weaving, basketry, and kachinas were just qualifications for her to be requested throughout Arizona and New Mexico. She was a member and strong supporter of the Gallup Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial and served on the Board of Directors of the Navajo Tribal Arts and Crafts Enterprise. Her many awards included the prestigious"Award for Merit" from the Department of Interior Arts and Crafts Board for"Commitment to the High Standards of Craftsmanship and Continuing Emphasis on Integrity." She is survived by her son, Robert C. Noe and wife, Sally, both of Gallup; grandchildren, Kathe Noe and Bill Noe and his wife, Diana, both of Gallup, Tom Noe of Australia; great-grandchildren, Jason Foutz and Amber Noe, both of Albuquerque and Chris Noe of Singleton, Australia. Parham -- Edward Giddens Parham, who resided in Albuquerque for more than 35 years, died on August 23, 1998 in Port Isabel, Texas. Mr. Parham is survived by his wife, Evangeline; a son, Abraham; and his sister, Pat Attaway of Greensboro, Georgia. Mr. Parham's son, Rob, predeceased him. After attending the University of Georgia and playing on its football team, Mr. Parham served in World War II and then enrolled in one of the first classes at UNM Law School. He practiced for more than 30 years in areas ranging from successfully defending freedom of speech before the U.S. Supreme Court to criminal and domestic cases. Those who knew Mr. Parham will miss his very original wit, unique perspective of life, legal talents, and his ability to relate to people form all walks of life.

Ramey -- Russell Alpheus Ramey Jr., born February 12, 1916 in El Paso, TX, to Russell Alpheus Ramy Sr. and Lucy Miles Werne, passed away on August 29, 1998. He was a retired Civil Engineer and Architect. He graduated from Burgess High School in El Paso, TX and attended the University of Texas at El Paso, TX. Mr. Ramey was a WWII veteran. He served with the 555th AAFBU out of Love Field, TX in the following battles/campaigns: Southern France Air Combat-Balkens; Northern Apennines; Rhineland; Rome-Arno; Northern France; Po Valley. His decorations and citations included the Distinguished Unit Badge; Good Conduct Medal; American Theatre Service Medal and EAME Service Medal with seven Bronze Battle Stars. Survivors include former wife, Katherine Leann Ladd Ramey Ladd of Ruidoso, NM; sons, Russell Alpheus Ramey III of Austin, TX, Leonard Veltis Ladd Ramey of Dallas, TX; daughter, Nancy Carla Ramey of Vashon Is., WA; former wife, Nancy Schultz of St. Pettersburg, FL; granddaughters, Caranina Schmeiding of Denton, TX, Devan Marie Ramey of Austin, TX; great-granddaughters, Rhea Esperance Schmeiding, Erin Vanessa Schmeiding of Denton, TX; and great-grandson, Quentin Ariel Schmeiding of Denton, TX. Richey -- Lorene (Rogers) Richey, a resident of Albuquerque since the early 1950's, died peacefully in her sleep, Thursday, August 20, 1998. She is survived by her daughter, Dona Arnot and husband, Gene; granddaughters, Dee Dee Butterfield and Debi Arnot, all of Albuquerque; niece Vicki Rigdon and her family of Amarillo, TX; daughter-in-law, LaRue (Richey) Parramore; grandsons, Lawrence Richey and Lowell Richey; and four great-grandchildren, all of Lubbock, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Richey; sister, Cora Mae Burt; brother, York Rogers; and son, Karl Richey. Lorene was born June 13, 1910, in the territory of New Mexico to Florence (Littrell) and Ralph Rogers on their ranch at Hardscrabble, east of Maxwell. She lived in Cimmaron, Raton, and Las Vegas, before coming to Albuquerque. Lorene was a homemaker and longtime member of St. John's United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was active in United Methodist Women. Her cremains have joined those of her husband and son at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name for the Elementary Sunday School at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. Templeman -- Marion Gillespie Templeman, age 87, a resident of Santa Fe, died quietly on September 3, 1998. Born in Iowa, Marion was the wife of the late William D. Templeman, and a loving and caring mother to four children and four grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Watkins and Connie Coates of Santa Fe; two sons, John Templeman and his wife, Joan, Bill Templeman and his wife, Barbara, all of Santa Fe; her grandchildren are Jennifer and Jeremy Templeman of Santa Fe, Chris Watkins of Albuquerque and Scott Coates of California.
