Obituary for Garcia

Flora S. Garcia, 93, a resident of Las Cruces, NM and formerly of Albuquerque and a native of the Old Town Area, passed away early Saturday morning. Mrs. Garcia was preceded in death by her parents, Tomas and Clarita Luna Serna; her husband, Bennie L. Garcia; three brothers, Frank, Bobbie and Thomas Serna; three sisters, Rose Lovato, Charlotte Serna, Beatrice Sedillo; one granddaughter, Donna Louise Cordova; a son-in-law Richard Robles; one godchild, Freddie Sedillo. She is survived by one son, Eloy Serna; five daughters, Carmen Duree, Josephine Robles and husband, Roberto, Lupe Robles, Margie Cordova and husband, Tony and Viola Garcia. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning at 10 a.m., also at the church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be the great-grandchildren, Eric Duree, Ramon Ornelas, Ray Gomez Jr., Casey Duree, J.R. Ketcherside and Matthew Garcia. Honorary Bearers will be the grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be made to the Mesilla Valley Hospice, 299 E. Montana, Las Cruces, NM 88005. Mrs. Garcia will lie in state Tuesday, from 2:00 p.m. til 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary, 8th and Iron. Services are under the direction of Garcia Mortuary, 717 Stover SW.
