Russell Alpheus Ramey Jr., born February 12, 1916 in El Paso, TX, to Russell Alpheus Ramy Sr. and Lucy Miles Werne, passed away on August 29, 1998. He was a retired Civil Engineer and Architect. He graduated from Burgess High School in El Paso, TX and attended the University of Texas at El Paso, TX. Mr. Ramey was a WWII veteran. He served with the 555th AAFBU out of Love Field, TX in the following battles/campaigns: Southern France Air Combat-Balkens; Northern Apennines; Rhineland; Rome-Arno; Northern France; Po Valley. His decorations and citations included the Distinguished Unit Badge; Good Conduct Medal; American Theatre Service Medal and EAME Service Medal with seven Bronze Battle Stars. Survivors include former wife, Katherine Leann Ladd Ramey Ladd of Ruidoso, NM; sons, Russell Alpheus Ramey III of Austin, TX, Leonard Veltis Ladd Ramey of Dallas, TX; daughter, Nancy Carla Ramey of Vashon Is., WA; former wife, Nancy Schultz of St. Pettersburg, FL; granddaughters, Caranina Schmeiding of Denton, TX, Devan Marie Ramey of Austin, TX; great-granddaughters, Rhea Esperance Schmeiding, Erin Vanessa Schmeiding of Denton, TX; and great-grandson, Quentin Ariel Schmeiding of Denton, TX. No services are planned. If desired, memorials may be sent to KERA-Channel 13. Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3204 Fairmount St., Dallas, TX, in charge of arrangements.
