Obituary for Gardner

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday September 06, 1998

Bernadette J."Jeri" Gardner, 89, a resident of Albuquerque since 1974, died Friday, September 4, 1998. Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone, Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone Silence the pianos and with muffled drum Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead Scribbling on the sky the message She Is Dead. Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves, Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves. She was my North, my South, my East and West, My working week and my Sunday rest, My noon, my midnights, my talk, my song; I thought that love would last forever; I was wrong. The stars are not wanted now; put out every one, Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun, Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods; For nothing can ever come to any good.Bernadette leaves many dear friends and relatives who loved her dearly including her husband of 54 years, Michael Gardner of Albuquerque. There never was, There is not, Nor will there ever be anyone like her.Services will be held Tuesday, September 8, 1998, 2:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE with Leslie M. Rivlin officiating. Entombment will take place at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel, Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. SE
