BACA -- Joseph Orlando, age 54, went home to be with Our Lord on Good Friday, March 21, 2008. He was born on December 28, 1953 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is preceded in death by his father, Jose Orlando Baca. Joseph was a beloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend who courageously fought a debilitating illness for over 24 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Christy; his sons Daniel and David Richard; his mother Flora A. Baca; his sisters, Celine Radigan and husband, Mike; Cecila Martinez and husband, Jerry; his brother, Paul G.A. Baca of Fort Lauderdale, FL; his nieces and nephews, Leslie and Alex Hindi, Michael Radigan; Jeremy Martinez, Alyssa Martinez; great nieces, Gabriella and Ellianna Hindi; His mother in law, Evelyn Wersonick; Goddaughter, Heather Davis; and his best friends Arthur Schreiber, Mike Wersonick, and Felix Montoya. He was a graduate of Del Norte High School, and attended University of Albuquerque. During his career as a locksmith he was recognized as the youngest certified locksmith in the USA. and he also served as an instructor in the trade. He was affiliated with KOB radio and Magic 99 FM. Pallbearers will be; Michael Radigan, Jeremy Martinez, Alex Hindi, Mike Wersonick, Felix Montoya, and Randy Repichowski. May God bless you, Jo Jo. BROWN -- Sibyl Griffin Brown, a founding member of Reserve Baptist Church, passed away on March 26, 2008. Sibyl Louise was born March 12, 1922, in Biloxi, Mississippi to Oliver and Jettie Schneider. She married B. E. "Wee" Griffin on June 30, 1940. To this union, seven children were born. After the death of Mr. Griffin, Sibyl married James Brown in 1977. She was best known for her love of sewing, herbs, flowers, quilts, and her job as postmaster of Reserve post office, for which she served twenty-seven years. She is survived by one sister, Bayne Black; one brother, Shelton Schneider; and her children, Glyn Griffin, Reserve, NM, Gathel Young, Lincoln, NM, Gretta Speir, Vernal, UT, Garnelle Allred, Glenwood, NM, Grace Snidow, Ruidoso, NM, Grant Griffin, Hunt, TX, and Kaye Brown Hobbs, Flagstaff, AZ. Sibyl is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and many friends. She is preceded in death by "Wee" Griffin; James Brown; and her son, Eugene Griffin. CARR -- Martin Albert Carr, 27, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on March 25, 2008. Martin is survived by his wife, Rebecca M.; his children, Marcos M. and Elijah Ray; his parents, Chris and Gloira Montano; his sister Valerie Rose Carr and finance, Chris Lopez; his nephews, Julian and Joseph Lopez; grandparents, Genevieve Cortez, Connie and Manuel Banuelos; his uncles, Joe Paul Carr, Clarence Montano and wife, Louri, Russel Montano and wife, Susan, and Joseph Bone; his aunts, Caroline Downing and husband, Larry, Troylene Ward and husband, Richard, and Daylee Montano; and several cousins and friends. ELLIS -- Robert Renshaw Ellis, 40, died peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of Thursday morning, March 27, 2008. A lifelong resident of Albuquerque, Robert attended Sandia High School and graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1991. Kind and gentle by nature, Robert endured the ravages of myotonic muscular dystrophy without complaint. He was the only son of Jim Ellis, and the late Mary Van Atta Ellis. His survivors include his sisters, Mary Clark and her husband, Jim of Nashville, and Jane Ellis; his father, Jim Ellis; and a very large cat named Merlin. Robert was very proud of his deep roots in Albuquerque which included the early-day Sisk and Van Atta families. If angels have a sense of humor, they will surely enjoy Robert's company. ESPINOZA -- Eloy Orlando Espinoza went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 27, 2008. He was born in Valdez, NM on March 1, 1946 and resided in Albuquerque, NM. Mr. Espinoza is preceded in death by Clorinda and Marcos Espinoza, Manuel Espinoza, Elevinio Espinoza, Debbie Espinoza, and father-in-law, Joel Baca. He is survived by his wife, Marcella Espinoza; children, Eloy Espinoza, Leo Espinoza; grandson, Richard Gleisner; brothers and sisters, Elias (Connie) Espinoza, Stella Casias, Dolores Pacheco, Archie Espinoza; many nephews and nieces; five brother-in-laws, eight sister-in-laws; and mother-in-law, Agapita Baca. FLETCHER -- Leslie L. Fletcher, 52, passed away on March 24, 2008, after a two-year battle with ductile and inflammatory breast cancer. Leslie was born at Ft. Knox, KY on April 10, 1955, along with her fraternal twin sister, Linda, to Edward and Pat Lobdell. The Lobdells settled in El Paso, Texas in 1969 and Leslie was a 1973 graduate of Burges High School. She graduated from The University of Texas- El Paso in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. Leslie achieved her Certified Public Accountant certificate in 1980 and worked for the firm of Cooper's & Lybrand in El Paso until 1984. Leslie then moved to Las Cruces and joined the CPA firm of Wall & McKeag. She married James (Jamie) E. Fletcher on February 14, 1986. Leslie and Jamie have two daughters, Rachel, 21, and Jennifer, 19. In 1988, she left the accounting firm of Wall & McKeag and ran her own CPA practice from 1988 to 1999. Leslie was very active in community, NMSU, and civic organizations, helping to promote accounting and educational opportunities for high school students in Southern New Mexico. Dona Ana County Work Force Council, LCPS Scientific Advisory Program, and other school-to-work programs benefited from her expertise. She was the past president of both the Dona Ana Chapter of CPAs, and the Las Cruces Chapter of the American Society of Women Accountants. In 1999, she sold her CPA practice and joined Jamie at the investment firm of Merrill Lynch. She enjoyed the financial planning aspect of her position at Merrill Lynch and rapidly achieved the credentials of a Certified Financial Planner and Wealth Management Advisor. She patriotically supported Jamie's New Mexico Army National Guard career and his activation and deployment for OPERATION NOBLE EAGLE in 2003-2004. Her true callings were the local charities and professional accounting organizations that she loved to support as an officer and a fundraiser. In 2002, Leslie received the Merrill Lynch Lifetime Community Achievement Award for her community service in Southern New Mexico. Leslie was active with the Boards of Directors, committees, and fund-raising efforts for the Healthcare Foundation of Southern New Mexico, the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico, the Mesilla Valley Hospice, the Catholic Diocese of Las Cruces Foundation, and Jardin de los Ninos. As current president of the Thursday morning Mesilla Valley Rotary Club, her special loves were, her fellow Rotarians and the club's many fund raising activities. On February 17, 2008, Leslie, along with her friends, supporters and family, completed the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure at Ft. Bliss, Texas. She is survived by her husband, BG (Ret) James Fletcher, of Las Cruces, NM; her daughters, Rachel Fletcher, of Austin, Texas and Jennifer Fletcher, of Las Cruces, NM; her parents, Pat and Edward Lobdell of El Paso, Texas; her twin sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Mark Johnson of El Paso, Texas; her uncle and aunt, Don and Jean McGlamery of Prescott, AZ. Additional family members include Jamie's parents, BG (Ret) Charlie and Johnnie Fletcher of Annandale, VA,; sisters, Suzie and Jim Gauthier of Sterling, VA; Margaret and Brad Wilson of Richmond, VA; Anne Cook of Richmond, VA; Mary and Paul Donohue of Winter Park, FL; and MG Charlie and Dale Anne Fletcher, Jr. of Scott AFB, IL. A special thanks to "Leslie's Earthly Angels", "Leslie's Miracle Seekers" and the Wound Care nurses at Mountain View Regional Hospital that came to her aid, support and comfort over the last two years during her valiant fight with breast cancer. The cancer took her body but never conquered her spirit. The moment the Lord whispered in her ear to come with Him, she left us in peace and without pain. FRANKLIN -- Dortha L. Franklin, 92, a resident of Albuquerque since 1963 died Tuesday, March 25, 2008. She is survived by her children, Rex Franklin and wife, Janet of Syracuse, NY, John Franklin, Cindy Phelps and husband, Bob both of Albuquerque, and Ben Franklin and wife, Linda of Pagosa Springs, CO; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. FROST -- Elizabeth Lee Frost, 83, died on Monday, March 17, 2008 of cancer. Born in Bayfield, CO to Austin P. Frost and Mary Ann McCain Frost, she was the 3rd of seven children. She spent part of her childhood in Dulce, NM where her father worked for the Indian service. She attended high school in Durango, CO prior to graduating from Albuquerque High School in 1942. She retired from Sandia National Laboratory in 1992 with more than 41 yrs of service. Elizabeth and her sister Margaret were the original crew members of the Galles Balloon Team and were the biggest fans of the Balloon Fiesta. Elizabeth was an avid genealogist and was the past President of The Albuquerque Genealogical Society. She survived cancer surgery twice in the last 10 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Austin Frost and Phillip Frost and sister Margaret Del Valle. She is survived by her sister, Mary Kathryn Craig of Durango, CO; brothers, Gerald Frost and Lloyd Frost of Albuquerque and numerous nieces and nephews. GARDNER -- Sheldon Lee Gardner died peacefully on March 25, 2008, at the age of 72. Sheldon passed from this life in the same manner of which he lived, with quiet dignity. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Barbara; daughter Teresa Schneider and husband, Larry, granddaughter Sydney Marie; daughter Nancy Giblin and husband, David, grandson Christian Max Gardner; sisters Mary Kay Stein (Don) and Betty Verplank; brother Robert Dunlap, Jr. (Joan); two special aunts (Twila and Donna), and numerous relatives and friends. Sheldon was born in Salina, Kansas, on July 14, 1935. He moved with his family to Corrales in 1947. He attended Albuquerque High School, graduated in 1953, attended UNM, and joined the USAF in 1954. He retired from the military after 22 devoted years to his country. He continued his career as a civil servant with the Defense Nuclear Agency as well as an employee of the State of New Mexico working in the corrections department at CNMC. Sheldon is remembered by those who knew him as a "kind and gentle cowboy." He was a generous and loving soul, who was able to see the good in everybody and as a result made friends wherever he went. He was never too busy to help someone in need and never wanted anything in return. He was the happiest when spending time with his family, enjoying his granddaughter Sydney singing in the opera or fly fishing with his grandson Max. Above all, he was at his happiest during the quiet moments he spent with his wife Barbara. His legacy of love will remain with us for the rest of our lives. Sheldon is now free from the body that has kept him from doing the things he loved most; he is now in heaven and able to bale alfalfa, brand cows, and spend his days fishing. Hopefully in heaven he'll actually be able to catch a fish! Cremation has taken place. A private Memorial Service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, located at 10,000 Spain Road. A Celebration of Sheldon's life will be held in the Fellowship Hall at 3:00 p.m.-4:30 pm - all friends welcome. GRAVLIN -- James C. Gravlin, passed away Monday, March 24, 2008. He was born December 25, 1924 in Sycamore, Illinois. James was an Albuquerque resident since 1947. He was a graduate of UNM, class of 1950. James was a veteran of WWII, having served two years in the ETO with the Army Engineers. He was also an Eagle Scout. James retired from Sandia National Labs in 1984 after serving in various staff and supervisory positions for 35 years. He was a life member of Sycamore Lodge #134, AF & AM, and a member of American Legion Post #99, Sycamore, IL. He was a past President of the Albuquerque Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, and was an active member of the Albuquerque Bicentennial Commission through the years 1973- 1976. He was active at St Marks on the Mesa Episcopal Church, having served three terms on the Vestry. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley H. Gravlin; two sons, Marc Clemens and wife, Yvonne, of Saguache County, Colorado; Thomas Levoy of Los Alamos, NM; grandchildren, Jennifer and Damon; and two great-grandchildren, Marcus and Hailey. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. A private Family Service is planned for Saturday, March 29, 2008 at St. Marks on the Mesa Episcopal Church. Cremains will be placed in Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date. HASSON -- Melita J. Sedillo Hasson passed away on March 24, 2008. She was born in Magdalena, NM to C.B. Sedillo Sr. and Refugio Landovazo Sedillo. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.W. "Bill" Hasson. She is survived by her son, Jaime Chacon wife ,Lolita; and daughter, Yvonne Pitts husband, Bill. Grandchildren, Jolene Chacon Montoya, Jimmy Chacon, Michelle Cracraft, and Robin Pitts. Great-grandchildren, Jeremy Peralta, Monique Sisneros, Alexis Akers, and Shane Akers. Great-great- grandchildren, Isac Peralta and Dominic Peralta; and her brother, Anthony "Tony" Sedillo. Also, her loving nephews; sister-in-law; cousins; and friends. Melita lived most of her life in New Mexico. She and her husband, Bill, moved to California to be near their children about 10 years ago, were they resided until their passing. Melita lived a good long life. She and her husband traveled all over the world when they retired. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Cremation has taken place and a Gravesite Service will be held at a later date.

HOKANSON -- Charles Roger Hokanson, 83, of Taos, passed away on March 21, 2008. Roger was born in Hennepin County, MN, to Matilda "Betty" and Francis "Elmer" Hokanson. The Hokansons moved to Taos in the 1930's and lived on the Ed Lineberry Estate on North Pueblo Road as estate groundskeepers. Roger enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943. H served in the Pacific theatre during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Badoeng Strait, one of the first U.S. vessels to arrive at Pearl Harbor after the Japanese attack. Roger continued his tour in the South Pacific as a carpenter's mate until his Honorable Discharge in 1947. After returning to Taos, he married Jessie Burk Miller on October 31, 1952. Roger may be best known around Taos as "The Milk Man", having worked a number of years at the Taos Locker Plant and the Johnson Dairies in El Prado. He delivered milk and dairy products to stores in Taos, Eagle Nest, Red River, and Questa in the 1950s and 1960s. After a brief period working with Miller's Autoland and Brinks Security, Roger was employed at MolyCorp as a heavy equipment operator and was known by his co-workers as "Lechero". He retired in the late 1980s and enjoyed taking care of his home and yard on Las Cruces Road. Jessie died in May 1993 after 40 years with the local Ford dealership and Roger suffered a brain injury in 2003 and had been a resident of a care facility in Albuquerque for the past five years. Roger was a member of Masonic Bent Lodge # 42 and had maintained the lodge grounds for many years before his injury. He was also a life member of the Taos Volunteer fire department. Roger is survived by his brother, Gerald Hokanson and wife, Marilyn; sister, Marilyn Kennon and husband, Ray; sons, Jacob Miller and Glenn Hokanson and wife Stella; daughters. Averye Miller Parrett Ralston, Pam Miller Airhart Fojtik and husband, A.J. and Teri Medina and husband, Gary; twelve grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. IRISH -- Robert Ellsworth Irish, born March 20, 1928 in Raton, NM died at his home in Albuquerque, NM on March 24, 2008. He had just celebrated his 80th birthday. He is survived by his wife, Louise; his three children and their spouses, Earl Irish and wife, Sue, Amy Brett and husband, Tim, and Clayton Irish and wife, Carol; five grandchildren, Mary Irish, Leslie Weimer, Glen Ingram, Allison Merow, and Darrell Irish; three great-grandchildren, Emilie Grace Weimer, Chloie Louise Weimer, and Cormac Irish Ingram; nephews, Gene Coleman, and Johnny and Jeffrey Irish; nieces, Earlene Quigley, Bernadette Wagner, Becky Cresswell, and Jenny Lou Irish; and many wonderful in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Ethel Irish; his three brothers, Clayton, Berdette, and Allison Irish; and his two sisters, Georgiana Coleman and Carrie McGee. His family and friends knew him as a loving husband and father who had an avid passion for life and bowling. He was very proud of being the past president of the Albuquerque Men's Bowling Association and the New Mexico State Men's Bowling Association, and being inducted into the Albuquerque Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He received many awards for his accomplishments, including several for a 300 game. Bob had worked in the auto parts business his entire life with his latest place of employment being at Karl Malone Toyota until the age of 78. He loved his work and missed his fellow employees immensely. Bob and his wife Louise had taken many trips and cruises during their life together. They loved visiting their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Washington and Alaska. They enjoyed their many vacations. Clayton and Carol Irish, the only children living in Albuquerque, have been their mother and father's greatest strength. Robert Irish will be greatly missed. He remains embedded in our hearts forever, and we now release him into God's loving arms. LOVATO -- Julio Lovato, 93, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, March 25, 2008. Born in Rosebud, NM on August 23, 1914 he moved to Mosquero, NM and graduated from Mosquero High School. He joined the family trucking business, taking over when his father died. Julio served his country honorably in the 8th Army Air Corps during WWII. He moved to Albuquerque after leaving the military to start a business and raise his family. He owned many bars in Albuquerque, his last bar being the Tropics Lounge. Julio always had a smile on his face and a story from his heart. Julio loved children of all ages, especially his grandchildren; Nicole Livingston, Cody LeMaster, Bayley Lovato, and Louis Lovato. Julio is survived by his brothers, Tony and David; his sisters, Tina Cohn and Rose Anderson; his son, Michael; his daughters, Becky Livingston and Lori Lovato; and many nieces and nephews. Julio was preceded in death by his wife Dorris; son, Julio, jr.; daughters, Roxanne Zibahalat and Pamala Trujillo; and brothers, Benny and Tom Lovato. A Rosary will be prayed at 8:00 a.m. with Funeral Service following at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2008, at the Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Mt. PARRAS -- Joe A. Parras, age 84, a resident of Albuquerque since 1961, died peacefully with his family in attendance and under hospice care on Wednesday, March 26, 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen (Garcia) Parras. They were raised and met while attending elementary school in Clayton, New Mexico. He is survived by three sons: Bill Parras and wife, Lydia of Albuquerque; Ken Parras and wife, Janice of Los Lunas; and Mark Parras of Albuquerque. He is survived by two grandsons: Jeffrey and Jonathan Parras; five granddaughters: Melissa Parras, Rachel Garcia and husband, Carlos; Melanie Hahn and husband, Aaron; Alisa Smith and husband, Erik; Susan and Chaline Parras; and three great grandchildren: Kristelle Parras, Wyatt Hahn, and Isaiah Garcia; and many other close relatives. He was very proud of serving his country as a highly decorated World War II veteran who served in the Army Air Corp and U.S.A.F. as a gunner on the B-17 Flying Fortress, B-24 Liberator and B-29 Superfortress in Europe, Libya, Philippines and Okinawa. While in combat, various aircraft that he flew on were shot down numerous times and after one mission he was rescued on an island in the Pacific Ocean after being MIA for 30 days. After receiving an honorable discharge from the military, he returned to Albuquerque worked and retired as a local trucker for both Navajo and ABF Freight Systems. Mr. Parras was very devoted to his wife for almost 50 years and would often reminisce about their wonderful experiences with their family and numerous fishing trips. Mr. Parras was a loyal member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church for 47 years and a long time member of the Grandparents Are Indeed Necessary (GAIN) organization that championed grandparent rights. Mr. Parras will be most remembered for his love and support of his family, preparing delicious meals, and his contagious sense of humor. A Rosary will be recited Sunday, March 30, 2008, 5:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. N.E. with Deacon Andy Chavez reciting. REESE -- Robert Samuel Reese was born on July 28, 1954 in Big Spring, TX to Ralph and Lessie Reece Sr. As a young boy, Robert relocated to Albuquerque, NM in 1958 with his family. Robert was a member of the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Albuquerque, NM. Robert's greatest joy was his grandchildren. He also became a surrogate parent to Ja'Micheel and Charelle when they were in need of care. Robert also loved music, traveling, and landscaping. He loved the latter so much that he started his own landscaping company. Preceding him in death was his mother, Lessie M. Hunt. Robert leaves to cherish his memories, a son Eric Reece and his wife Taii, and their three daughters; his father, Ralph Reece Sr. and stepmother Fay; his siblings, Etta F. SALAZAR -- Gino Salazar, 31, unexpectedly passed away on Monday, March 24, 2008. He was preceded in death by his Uncle Jimmy. SATTLER -- Jack Francis Sattler, 88, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2008. Jack was born December 26, 1919 the son of John Francis and Elise Herb Sattler in Jamaica, New York. Jack served in the United States Air Force during World War II and the Korean War as an aircraft mechanic. He worked in that capacity for over 30 years for Trans World Airlines. He was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church since 1964. He enjoyed being a member of a number of service organizations including Meals on Wheels. He had been a President and member of the Elks and Kiwanis clubs. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, William Sattler. SIZEMORE -- Judith L. Sizemore, age 60, of Albuquerque, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2008, in Little Rock, Arkansas, while undergoing treatment for multiple myeloma cancer. During the last few years of her life she maintained a courageous fight against cancer. Judith leaves behind her loving mother, Marion J. Sandholm of San Antonio, TX; her grandchildren Jacob Rishi Sizemore and Laura Asha Sizemore; and many close friends. Judith began her career life working in the insurance industry and spent many years in public service at the New Mexico Department of Human Services and the New Mexico Department of Labor. She was a gifted IT manager. TEDESCO -- Salvatore J. (Ted) Tedesco, 96, a long time resident of Albuquerque, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2008. He was born May l6, l911 to Giachino and Maria Gracia Gullo Tedesco, who had immigrated from Aliminusa, Sicily. He grew up in W. Irving, NY, near Buffalo, attending a one-room schoolhouse and then Hutchinson HS in Buffalo. He graduated from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, TX with a BS in Chemistry. He married Eleanor Beaven in l935 and their daughter, Christine, was born in l937. In l941, Ted was commissioned as a Second Lt. in the US Army Air Corps Chemical Warfare Branch. He was assigned to posts in Maryland, Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, California, New Mexico, Alaska, and Germany , including the Occupation and the Berlin Air Lift. In 1949, he transferred to Special Weapons and participated in atomic tests in Nevada and the Pacific. In l962, he retired as a Lt. Col. with 20 years service, taught math in the Abuquerque schools, and then Civil Preparedness for UNM Extension. In l978, he married Mary Margaret Platt, truly the love of his life, and was lovingly adopted by her large family. Ted loved to hunt and fish; he was a skilled bowler, and won blue ribbons for his wood carvings. He enjoyed gardening and golf. He was active in the Lions Clubs in Tijeras and Albuquerque, serving as chapter President twice. He was always kind and generous and had a great sense of humor. Truly a gentleman and loved by all who knew him. He is survived by his daughter, Christine Horner (husband Terry); and four grandchildren: Michael Horner (wife Susan Morath and their daughters Grace and Fiona), Julie Horner Oksas (husband Steve and their daughters Christine and Kate), Sarah Horner (Robert Bell and their daughter Julia), James Horner (wife Elizabeth McBee and their daughters Claire and Emma). Ted's adoptive family includes Mary Margaret's daughters, Janet Blackman (husband Jac), Charlene Baker (husband Robert), and Sherri Williams (husband Bill); grandchildren, Kelli Murphy (husband Doug), Keith Myers, Kim Navarro, Shefford Baker (wife Julie), Kory Baker (wife Babbi), Shenda Baker (husband Jim Stirling), Janine Cassidy (husband Steve), and Bryan Williams; plus numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. The family is especially grateful to our dear friend Katie Stevenson, Ted's AmberCare Hospice team, and Mr. Teno Vazquez of A New Day assisted living. THOMAS -- Dr. Eric A.Thomas, 36, of Albuquerque, NM, went to be with his heavenly Father Saturday, March 22, 2008, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, due to complications of Leukemia. Dr. Thomas was a 17-year resident of Albuquerque, NM. He was born November 10, 1971, in Oxnard, CA. He grew up in Camarillo, CA, and attended Rio Mesa High School where he was a member of the varsity basketball and track teams. Dr. Thomas received his undergraduate and medical degree from the University of New Mexico. He also completed a residency in orthopedics at UNM. He was a WAC Scholar Athlete for four years while participating in LOBO basketball. He was the first student member of the Board of Regents for the University of New Mexico. Dr. Thomas completed a fellowship in spine surgery at OrthoIndy in Indianapolis, IN. He was a Spine Surgeon for Spine, Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Center in Albuquerque. He was an invaluable contributor and collaborator with NuVasive, Inc., a spine surgery company. He was a pioneer in their XLIF procedure, and was instrumental in the design and development of new and improved spine products, as well as teaching other spine surgeons for the company. Eric was loved by all and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His faith and courage was an inspiration to all that knew him, and his spirit will continue to live in our hearts. Dr. Thomas is survived by his wife, Kari Thomas; a son, Benjamin James Thomas; his parents, Benjamin and Donna Thomas; his brother, Brent and wife, Tonya; a sister, Jennifer Cover and husband, Dan. WALLA -- Myrna Louise Walla, beloved sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died on March 20, 2008, at the age of 71 after a brief illness. Myrna is survived by her brother, Ken Langston and sisters, Shirley Lindsey and Yvonne Timblin. Myrna is also survived by her son Mike and wife, Amy Walla; son, Jeff and wife, Missy Walla; daughter, Lisa Walla; her three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Myrna worked at Sandia National Laboratories for thirty-seven years before her retirement in 2002. Myrna was born and raised in western Nebraska where she grew to love gardening and family. She enjoyed these in retirement and will be dearly missed by her loved ones. Marcella was a devoted wife and mother. She meant so much too so many different people and was always willing to step in for anyone in need of help. Her life was devoted to her family with unconditional love. The world is truly a lesser place without her. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her throughout her life time. WILSON -- Melvin Harvey Wilson, age 71, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2008 in the arms of his wife Jane and kids Jeff and Jan after a short painless battle with pulmonary fibrosis. We're sure that as Mel peacefully crossed over he was happily greeted by his mother Blanche, son Greg and many others who made the journey to the other side before him. Mel was born in Highlands, NC and was a resident of NM since 1945. Mel was well-known to many in the community through his business, American Bath Remodeling, and later from working as a plumber with his son, Jeff, which he greatly enjoyed. Mel will be remembered for his good nature, humor and excellent work. He loved to work around his home, fixing things, remodeling, and tinkering with projects. He loved to do yard work and keep his yards beautiful. Neighbors and friends will remember how he loved to sit and soak up the sun in front of his house every morning. He also loved to get a chocolate malt at Sonic. Mel was very easy-going and informal and didn't want a funeral or memorial service. He would have preferred that friends and loved ones instead go to Sonic and toast him with a chocolate malt and remember him as he was in life. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, neighbors and two beloved dogs. Mel is survived by his dad, Albert Wilson of Espanola, NM wife Jane and son Jeff Wilson, both of Albuquerque; daughter Jan Wilson of Los Angeles, CA; sister Myrtice Wieser of San Diego, CA and sister Patricia Landon and husband John of Los Lunas, NM; three granddaughters Brittany Wilson of Albuquerque, Tori Wilson of Bernalillo, NM, Tara Terry and husband, Seth Terry of Modesto, CA and many other extended family. Other survivors include Billie Scott, grandmother, of Bristow, OK; Ruth Bible, aunt; Sundala Pinon, cousin, of Okemah, OK., and Mallory Bible, cousin, Ileana Bible-Dunson, second cousin of Tulsa, OK; Alexis Bible-Crosley, aunt, Alex Alvarez, cousin, Christopher Crosley, cousin, AJ and Abigail Alvarez, second cousins of Glenpool, OK.; Steve York, uncle and his wife, Donna York, of Chickasha; OK and Todd York, cousin, of Norman, OK. There are other aunts and uncles and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces, cousins, grandnieces, and grandnephews residing in states of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. She is preceded in death by John Ellis Scott, grandfather; Kelli Danielle, sister; and John Anthony York, brother; Michael Ian Bible, cousin; and Alicia Alvarez, second cousin, of Oklahoma; and George Effman, stepfather, of Maryland. All will miss Stacy's gentle ways, nurturing, compassionate nature, and her piercing wit and humor.
