ANDERSON -- Irene A. Anderson, 76, of Hobbs, formerly of Edgewood, New Mexico, passed away Monday, March 5, 2007 at Hobbs Health Care. Services were March 7, 2007 at Griffin Funeral Home in Hobbs, New Mexico. Mrs. Anderson was born on May 17, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to Henry and Anna Weyraska Finegan. She grew up in Chicago and later married Gerald E. Anderson on January 30, 1955 in Chicago. Mrs. Anderson moved to Edgewood, New Mexico about 28 years ago. Her favorite pastime was dancing and her family. Mrs. Anderson was a Vice President of an Insurance Company. She was preceded in death by her husband and her daughter, Lucille Daniel. Mrs. Anderson is survived by her sons, Greg Daniel and his wife Bobbie Jones and Dr. Michael Anderson; a sister Dorothy Echlin of Burr Ridge, Illinois; a granddaughter, Renee Palmares and her husband Jessie; and two great grandchildren, Elijah and Andrew. ANDLER-LATINO -- Josephine "Josie" Marie Andler Latino, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away March 9, 2007, following a brave and fearless battle with cancer. Although her spirit was strong, her body grew weak and she passed peacefully with her loving family by her side. She was born November 10, 1965 in Albuquerque and was a 1983 graduate of Rio Grande High School. Josie graduated from New Mexico Highlands University with a Bachelor's in Business Administration. She is survived by her loving husband, Keith J. Latino; mother, Mary Lou Marquez-Andler; her brothers, George Andler and his wife Annamarie; Gerome Andler and his wife Cathy; and sister Veronica Andler-Lopez and her husband Johnny. She was a wonderful and loving Auntie to nephews, Dominic, Jovan, Aaron, Isaiah, Matthew, Gavin, and Christian; and nieces, Dominique, Ashley and Brooke. She is also survived by many uncles, aunts, and cousins, as well as many dear friends. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday, March 13, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd. NW, and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, March 14, at 9:00 a.m., also at St. Jude. AUSTIN -- Fred J. Austin, age 59, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 7, 2007, following a brave and fearless battle with cancer. He is survived by his mother, Margaret M. BACA -- Luis J. Baca, 81, passed away on March 8, 2007 at his son's home surrounded by his family. He was survived by his wife of 60 years, Tillie R. Baca; two sons, Alex Baca and wife, Nancy, and Vernon Baca and wife, Josie; grandchildren, Alex, Tammy, Veronica, Lisa; and great-grandchildren, Samantha, Hannah, Hayley, Joseph Jr, Isabel, Elijah, Holly, Brittney, Isiah, Noah, and Natalie; sisters, Toni Bustamante, Connie Jaynes, Ramona Flores from California, and Lupe Hooker from California; and brothers, Johnny Baca and wife, Lupie and Ruben Baca and wife, Carol, from California. Cpl. Luis J. Baca, 38583434 Company L 422 Infantry Regiment 106th Infantry Division, participated in the greatest land battle, "The Battle of the Bulge". Luis J. Baca was captured and imprisoned by the Nazis in December 1944 in a Zittau work camp. He was liberated by the Russians in May 1945. BELL -- Nita Rose Bell, 81, passed away February 19, 2007 in Mesa, AZ. She was born in Dallas, TX to Leslie John McCarty and Bertie Viola Matlock McCarty. She attended and graduated second in her class from Pampa High School, Pampa, TX. During World War II she attended Texas University at Austin, TX for two years with a vision of achieving a medical career. She chose, instead, to follow her dreams and marry Bill Bell, a returning war veteran and high school classmate. They were married on November 20,1944. Nita and Bill resided in Norman, OK where Bill graduated from Oklahoma University. After moving to Albuquerque, NM in 1949, together, Nita and Bill built Bill Bell of Albuquerque Photography; a highly respected and well-known portrait studio for 45 years. Along with Bill, Nita was a prominent member of the National Professional Photographers of America and earned her Master of Photography in August of 1962. Together, Nita and Bill became the first couple to become Master Photographer Craftsmen. For a number of years, Nita was an internationally recognized presenter in the successful methods of portraiture, sales techniques, public relations and studio management. She is past president of the Professional Photographers of New Mexico, a position held by few women, past president of the Southwestern Photographers Assn. and member of the State Board of Directors for Southwestern Photographers Assn. for numerous terms. Nita was highly recognized on the state and national level with prestigious awards and merits for her portraiture accomplishments. She served in a competitive judging capacity in both those arenas throughout her career. Upon retirement in 1993, Nita and Bill maintained residence in Albuquerque along with part-time residence in Leisure World, Mesa, AZ. In the summer of 2003 they moved to Mesa, AZ as full-time residents to be closer to family and friends and enjoy the community and all that it has to offer. She is survived by her husband of 62 years and best friend, William Worth Bell; daughters Lizabeth Elaine Bell (husband Patrick Waugh), Linda Rosanne Loy (husband Steve Loy); grandchildren Karrie Kristin Pierson (husband James Pierson III), Britton Ashley Picciolini (husband Christian Picciolini), Michael Mauchline, Kelli Lynn Newsome (husband Zackary Newsome), Kristin Lizabeth Loy; great-grandchildren Katherine Grace Pierson, Joseph James Pierson, Caroline Elizabeth Pierson, Anna Clare Pierson, Kellen James Newsome, Kirra Jade Newsome, Devin Picciolini and Brandon Picciolini. She was preceded in passing by her parents, sister Orma Jean Loibl and daughter Leslie Jeanette Mauchline. Memorial services are planned for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at Leisure World, Mesa, AZ, at Rec One Clubroom. CASTRO -- Joseph Pete Castro, Sr. was born on August 16, 1940 in Yoder, WY, the son of Henry and Delores Castro. He died Friday, March 9, 2007, in Albuquerque, at the age of 66. Pete was honored to have served his country in the United States Army. He also spent 30 years employed by Sprint. DALIA -- Jeffrey Lewis Dalia, age 67, died on Tuesday, February 19, 2007, in Albuquerque, NM. He was born in Long Beach, CA on June 18, 1939, to George and Martha Dalia. Jeff's roots to New Mexico go back to his grandfather, Samuel Wilkinson, who was a doctor in Belen. Jeff was a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle. In 1963, Jeff graduated from WestPoint. He served in the Army for twenty years. Jeff, Hedy and daughters, Petra and Andrea moved often. Duty stations included South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Washington, Kansas, Berlin, and Hawaii. Jeff served two tours in Vietnam. In 1976, Jeff was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy from Georgia State University. After retiring from the Army, Jeff taught at the College of Santa Fe and the University of New Mexico. Jeff established and was, for ten years, the sole proprietor of The Learning Lab, a training facility. Until his death, Jeff worked as an independent contractor for Southwestern College, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, the New Mexico Board of Psychologist Examiners, and the New Mexico Board of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Jeff is survived by his wife, Hedy; daughter, Andrea with partner, Maria; mother, Martha; grandchildren Danielle, Scott and Caitlin with Dad Wayne and his wife Joanie; brother Chris with wife Margaret; nieces, Katie and Karin; and nephew, Frank. DELAMBRE -- Mary Delambre, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2007. She was born in Litchfield, MN, on August 19, 1927. She is survived by her daughters, Laura Delambre-Melloy and husband, Joe, and Linda Delambre Allen; grandchildren, David Delambre-Melloy, John Delambre-Melloy, Krista Welch and husband, Chris, Kyle Allen and Brent Allen; brothers, Rt. FRUMKIN -- Gene Frumkin, age 79, passed away February 18, 2007 in his home. Gene was born in New York City, January 29, 1928, to Samuel and Sarah Frumkin. In 1938 they moved to Los Angeles for Gene's health. Gene graduated from UCLA in 1951 with a Bachelor's Degree in English. He was Managing Editor, then the Executive Editor of California Apparel News. In 1966 UNM offered him a one-year lectureship, where he continued to work for the next 30 years, serving as a major force in creating and strengthening the Creative Writing program in the English Department. He retired in 1994 and continued to write poetry, participate in poetry groups and readings, and publish his collections. In retirement he remained an inspiration to his former students and colleagues. He is survived by his daughter, Celena Allison and her husband, Peter, of Santa Cruz, CA; his son, Paul Frumkin and his wife, Joanna, and their two children, Alison and Daniel, of Albuquerque; and the many, many friends he touched throughout his life. A Celebration of Gene's Life will be held this Spring. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

HAYS OSTERTAG -- Caroline Hays Ostertag died suddenly in Ulm, Germany on December 1, 2006. There was a Celebration of Life service in Germany on December 29. The U.S. Celebration of Caroline's Life will be held in Albuquerque on March 17, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at the La Mesa Presbyterian Church. HILLER -- John Byron Hiller, age 89, of Albuquerque, is now peacefully at home with God, as of Thursday, March 8, 2007. John served during WWII in the United States Navy from 1943-1946. His rank was Elec. Technician Mate 1st Class. John was an electrical engineer with Sandia Labs, retiring after 20 years in 1976. After retirement, he spent the following 22 years on his farm in Deadwood, SD. He returned to Albuquerque to be close to his family in 2000. John was a noted inventor, horseshoe player, published poet, and yodeler, who loved working his farm in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Even in his later years, he remained active, achieving many awards in the Senior Olympics. He never met a stranger, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. John is survived by three daughters, Judy Moore and husband Robert, Kimberly Saavedra and husband Gilbert, Shannon Lucero; grandchildren, Todd & wife Kelly, Troy & wife Tera, Brett & wife Paula, Jolene, Gavin; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Brooklyne, and Noah. He was preceded in death by a son, Dannie Marsh; granddaughter, Kristen. A Committal Service will be held Tuesday, March 13, at 11:00 a.m., at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. HODGSON -- Norman Charles Hodgson, 64 years old, of Albuquerque, and 23 year resident of Kirkland, AZ, died May 27, 2002 in his home. He is survived by his children, Kathy Rodriguez and husband, Mike of Oregon, Jennise McCain of California, William McCain of Oregon, and Sandra McCain of California; grandchildren, Jeremy Foster, Jennifer Holder and Andrew Rodriguez, all of Oregon, Christine Agualo and husband, Matthew, Daniel Moeck and David Moeck, Randy McCain and Kimberly Kennedy, all of California; four great-grandchildren, Kayla Holder and Hope Foster of Oregon, Meliah Agualo and Matthew Agualo Jr. of California; sisters, Joyce Hodgson, Lorraine Patton, both of New Mexico, Dorothy Pauls of Arizona, Elizabeth (Billie) Harrison and Yvonne Jeffrey, both of New Mexico. Norman also had about 30 nieces and nephews. Norman was preceded in death by his parents Roy Hodgson and Pearl Supulver; four brothers, Lee I. Hodgson, Lester B. Hodgson, Melvin J. Hodgson and Raymond C. Hodgson. Norman served in the USN from February 1, 1958 to May 01, 1987. He retired after 30 years of Active & Inactive service at the rank of Chief, stationed @ NAF El Centro California. He served on the USS Kearsarge, Bennington, Helantisubron TEN, Patrol Squadron ONE, as well as two terms in Vietnam. HOOD -- Helen Anne Thomas Hood was born January 31, 1947 in Santa Monica CA, she released to heaven Monday, March 5, 2007 in Albuquerque, NM. She lived and attended Mary Wood Catholic School in CA, where she received a National Merit Scholarship Award. Moving to NM, she attended and graduated from UNM with a double degree in 1975. Helen married J. Darrell Hood on May 31, 1986. She was a loving and caring wife, stepmother and grandmother. Helen worked for a local insurance company for many years before becoming a substitute teacher for APS. Helen will be missed by all who knew her. These people include her husband, Darrell, of twenty years; her daughters, Karmelle Shields, Michelle Blackwell and Betty Hood; her son, Joe D. JONES -- Yolanda Proo Jones, 60, was born and raised in Albuquerque's historic Atrisco neighborhood on March 28, 1946. On March 5, Yola died in Southern California, peacefully and with her family by her side after fighting a long and debilitating illness. Though she lived in California for the last 40 years, she always loved New Mexico and especially Atrisco. She often talked about going to grandma's house across from Holy Family Church. She loved grandma's beans and chile and tortillas. She liked to have chile pods from "here" sent to her in California because ours "where the best," she said. Yola's greatest joy in life was spending holidays with family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert "Beto" and Alyce Proo; a son, Rodney; and many aunts and uncles from Atrisco. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, John Jones; sons, Thomas and Jim Jones; daughter, Elizabeth Perea; brother, Michael (Becky) Proo; sister, Yvonne (Glen) Galyon; grandchildren, Joey, Victor and Rami; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Joslyn and Eli; nieces and nephews Amanda, Matthew, Taylor, Jacob, Michelle and Jon; and many cousins and friends in Albuquerque and California. A Rosary was prayed Thursday in Manhatten Beach, Calif. (White and Day Mortuary), Mass was celebrated at Saint Catherine Laboure Church on Friday and she was buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in California. A Mass for Yola will be held at 8:00 a.m. on April 22, 2007 at Holy Family Church in Atrisco.

KANE -- William M. "Bill" Kane, Ph.D., 59, passed away on March 7, 2007, of pancreatic cancer. Bill was born in Emmetsburg, IA, the only son of Leo and Phyllis Kane. Bill was preceded in death by his father Leo and his sister Patricia. He is survived by his wife Ann Woodrow Kane of Red Lodge, MT, her daughter Kathryn Callahan of Joliet, sons Patrick (Pati) Callahan of Albuquerque, NM and Timothy (Jenny) Callahan of Roanoke, VA; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; his mother Phyllis Kane of Cylinder, IA; and sisters Sheryl (Harlan) Meints of Diamond Lake, MN, Virginia (Dale) Hoffman of Graettinger, IA, and Therese (Chuck) Duhn of Emmetsburg, IA. His is also survived by "brothers" Michael Bird of Albuquerque, NM, and Grabriel Josua Matana of Fiji; and his friends the Johns Family of Washington, DC, and many friends in Red Lodge, throughout the U.S. and the world. Bill grew up in Cylinder, IA and received his academic degrees from Emmetsburg Community College (A.A), Northwest Missouri State University (B.S.), University of Utah (M.S.) and the University of Oregon (Ph.D.). At the time of his death he was a Professor of health education at the University of New Mexico. Earlier Bill was a public school teacher in New York and Arizona and a university professor of health education in Wisconsin, California, and Washington, DC. Bill also held professional positions as Director of School Health Programs with ETR Associates (Scotts Valley, CA), Vice President with the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education and Dance, and Executive Director of the American Association for Health Education (Washington, DC/Reston, VA) and Executive Director of the American College of Preventive Medicine (Washington, DC). He has since received many awards from major national health organizations for his contributions in the field of preventative medicine. During his life Bill headed and served on many non-profit boards including the Domestic and Sexual Violence Services of Carbon County (MT), ETR Associates, the Foundation for the Advancement of Health Education, the American Association for Health Education, the National School Health Coalition and the North American Region of the International Union for Health Promotion and Education. Bill hopes that he will be remembered for his contributions of health education textbooks and curriculum which have been used in classrooms throughout the United States since 1981 and for his advocacy and efforts to support and shape the development of students and young professionals who devote their lives to equity, social justice and quality health for all. A memorial service celebrating Bill's life will take place at 10:00 am Saturday, March 24, at St. Agnes Church in Red Lodge. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his name to either the Beartooth Hospital and Health Center building fund, Box 590, Red Lodge, MT 59068; or the Billings Clinic Cancer Center building fund, Box 37000, Billings, MT 59107. LACOURSE -- Maranda In Loving Memory Of Maranda (Mandy) PeleAloha LaCourse January 24, 1983-February 15, 2007 Mandy passed away on February 15, 2007 at Casa Angelica (home for severally disabled children and young adults) where she resided for 21 years. Mandy was 24 years old at the time of her passing. Mandy is survived by her parents Robert and Sharon LaCourse, sister Leilani and Eick (husband), sister Felicia and Randy (husband), their son Alexander, grandmother Carolyn LaCourse and a lot of aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service was held at Cristo Rey Chapel on the 17th. There was a graveside service for the family at Sunset Memorial Park on the 24th. Mandy was a very special angel that was loved so much and will be missed by so many that knew her and loved her.

LEVERETT -- Susan Leverett, 92, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2007. She was a longtime resident of Albuquerque, a graduate of Albuquerque High and attended the University of New Mexico. Susan was an active sister of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. Mrs. Leverett was very involved with the Corps of Engineers wives club, loved to play golf and most of all adored her family. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Lt. Col. William J. Leverett Jr., U.S. Army, Ret.; daughter, Sheila F. Leverett; granddaughter, Sheli Hinds-Armstrong and husband, Benjamin J. MCMULLEN -- Allan L. McMullen Sr., a longtime resident of Sandia Park, passed away February 5, 2007. Encircled with love from his children Allan Jr., Harriett and Randy, and Ann in spirit, he quietly departed this life and embarked on an amazing heavenly journey to join his wife Helen. He will be remembered in the hearts of many friends and associates for his sense of fairness and business ethics as a Real Estate Appraiser and Counselor for over fifty years. He was an invited member of the American Society of Real Estate Counselors and taught Real Estate classes at UNM. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio he made his way out west, where he retired as an officer of the Army, and settled in Albuquerque in 1947 after being stationed in Deming, NM. One of the greatest gifts we his children and our children will treasure, are the memories of an adventurous life in the mountains. PAUL -- Gordon Wesley Paul, 86, of Alpharetta, GA, passed away March 3, 2007 after a brief illness. Mr. Paul was a native of Medford, OR and grew up in Glendale, CA, where he was active in sports and music, playing the French horn in the Sheriff's Boys Band. As a university student at UCLA, Mr. Paul worked summers at Camp Curry in Yosemite, hiking and enjoying the park in his free time. He once hiked from Tuolomne Meadows to the summit of Mount Lyell and back - 24 hours of continuous hiking. After graduating from UCLA in 1942 with a degree in Accounting, he entered the Army Air Corps as a statistician. While stationed in Washington, PA, he met and married Wilma Albus of Wheeling, WV. Following a transfer to San Francisco and the end of the war, Mr. Paul moved to Albuquerque, NM, and began a career as a Certified Public Accountant with Linder, Burk, & Stephenson, achieving partner status in 1951. In 1956, Linder, Burk & Stephenson merged with Peat, Marwick & Mitchell (now KPMG) and Mr. Paul became a partner with PM&M in 1957. In 1969, he rose to the position of managing partner of the Albuquerque office. During his career in Albuquerque, he served actively with several organizations including the Albuquerque Symphony, Kiwanis Club, and the YMCA. Following his retirement in 1977, Mr. Paul remained in Albuquerque and traveled extensively with his wife. He developed an interest in genealogy as a hobby, sparked by his knowledge of the immigration of the Paul ancestors from England to America in 1685. Paulsboro, NJ was named after these early immigrants. Mr. Paul researched and published six books on the Paul-Boyd and Albus-Clark (Mrs. Paul's family) lineages, and was still engaged in gathering information on other branches of both families when he passed away. After living in Albuquerque for 57 years, Mr. Paul and his wife moved to Alpharetta to be closer to their younger son, Andy. Mr. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Wilma; loving sons and their wives, Gordon and Elaine Paul of Libertyville, IL, Andy and Nadeen Paul of Alpharetta; his grandchildren Thad Paul of Washington, D.C., Garrett Paul of Alpharetta, Heidi Paul Perry and her husband Graham Perry of San Francisco; and great-grandchild, Grant Perry of San Francisco. Grandson, Scott Paul of Alpharetta preceded his grandfather in death in 2005. Mr. Paul is also survived by two brothers, Floyd Paul of Glendale, CA, and Robert Paul of Kirkland, WA, and by numerous nieces and nephews. PERKINS -- Cyrus Stearns Perkins, longtime resident and businessman of Albuquerque, died Monday, March 5, 2007 after a long illness. He was born April 1, 1918 in Denver, Colorado to Lilian and C.B. Perkins. He graduated in 1941 from the University of New Mexico, where he served as Student Body President, majored in economics, government and biology, and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Cy enlisted in the Army Air Force January 12, 1943 and served in the Pacific Theater with the 7th Fighter Command. After serving for 7 months on Iwo Jima, he returned home to Albuquerque to his wife, Betty Burton Perkins. They were married for 65 years. As a young adult, Cy traveled to Cocos Island and the Galapagos Islands on collecting expeditions for the San Diego Zoo and discovered a new genus of lizard which was named after him (Sphaerodaccyrus pacificus). Cy loved animals, enjoyed all sports and was a passionate New York Yankee fan. He is survived by his wife, Betty; their two sons, Cy Jr. of Tucson, AZ. and Thomas B., of Henderson, NV; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sister, Edith P. Moody, of San Marcos, CA; nieces, nephews other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. ROMERO -- Lucinda Molina Romero, age 76, born in Jarales, NM, a resident of La Joya, NM, "A Good Hearted Woman" who danced her way home to be with the Lord on March 8, 2007. ROWE -- Glenn D. Rowe, 87, died March 3, 2007 after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Iowa in 1919, he moved to Albuquerque with his parents in 1934. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Jane J. Rowe; daughter, Lori A. Rowe and husband Ralph E. Bridgeman; son, Glen D. Rowe and wife Ann; grandchildren Bailey, Grant, and Cassie Rowe; brother Hadley M. Rowe; all of Albuquerque, NM; sister Marna McWhorter of San Antonio, TX, and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews, and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merton M. and Opal K. Rowe; sister Arlene Lane; and brother Clarence M. Rowe. Glenn had been a building contractor, and retired from the NM State Highway Department. He built and remodeled homes and buildings, managed his rental properties, and enjoyed assisting family and friends with mechanical and building projects. He was a 55-year life member of the BPOE. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed sharing outdoor activities- fishing, boating, and hunting with friends and family, and visiting his Chama, NM cabin. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and shared his love of nature with them. A resident of the North Valley for 73 years, he was an avid gardener. Cremation has taken place. SACHS -- Benedicto (Ben) Sachs, passed to Eternity, Thursday, March 8, 2007. He was in born in Belen, NM on February 5, 1915 to Rebecca and Benedicto Sachs. Ben was preceded in death by his parents; seven siblings; and godson, Florencio Bachicha. Ben is survived by his wife of 65 years, Erminda Sachs of the family home; his daughter, Lucinda Sachs and husband Lewis Real; two grandchildren, Michael Real and Hilary Real; five godchildren; and other family members and friends. Ben will be surely missed by his family and by the many whose hearts he touched. Ben served his country during World War II in the United States Coast Guard, aboard the USS Joseph T. Dickman a U.S. Navy Transport. Ben was the last surviving grandson of Moses Sachs, who arrived in Santa Fe, NM from Bavaria, Germany in 1849. SAMORA -- Julia Trujillo Samora, passed away on March 4, 2007, at the age of 94. She was born in 1913 in the small village of La Puente in Upper Rio Arriba County, New Mexico, and resided in Tierra Amarilla until 1953, when the family moved to Albuquerque. She had been a resident of Laurel Heights Nursing Home for the past three years. Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Eugenio Samora, and one grandson, David Lopez. She is survived by her seven children, Elsie, Ike, Maria, Joe, Terrie, Vangie and Joseph, and respective spouses, 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren. Julia is also survived by one brother, Joe Trujillo, of California. Julia dedicated her life to her family and took great pride in her culinary skills. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for many years and once worked as a ceramics instructor at Wells Park Community Center, where she shared her creative talents with others. SHULSE -- Larry W. Shulse, 63, a longtime resident of Alamogordo, died Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at his home. Mr. Shulse was born July 22, 1943 in Hannibal, Missouri to John Wallace and Donna Jean (Griffith) Shulse. His family moved to Albuquerque where he lived for many years. He graduated from Highland High School, then received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of New Mexico in history and political science. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. After starting his career in insurance, he moved to Alamogordo in 1975 and was a partner in Lynch & Shulse Insurance and Bonds. He has been active in community affairs and was a longtime member and former chairman of the Otero County Economic Development Council, a former chairman of the Committee of 50, and a member of St. Jude Mission. Survivors include his wife of 38 years Kathy Shulse of the family home; two sons, Jeffrey Shulse and his wife Tiffany of Houston, and David Shulse of Denver; a granddaughter Kathryn Elizabeth Shulse of Houston; his mother Donna Jean Shulse of Center, Missouri; a sister Linda Laird and her husband Alan of New London, Missouri; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father. A vigil service will be conducted Sunday at 7:00 p.m. in the Hamilton-O'Dell Chapel with the Rosary to be recited by the St. Jude Rosary Society. STEADMAN -- Goldie Ann Steadman, age 96, died in her home after a short illness on March 9, 2007. Goldie has been an Albuquerque resident since 1932, and was preceeded in death by her husband of 61 years, Fred Steadman. She is survived by three children and their spouses, Fredie and Catherine Steadman, Richard and Josephine Steadman and Bradley and Victoria (Steadman) Crosby; seven grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Public viewing is scheduled for Friday, March 16, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Strong-Throne Mortuary, 1100 Coal S.E. TAPIA -- Filadelfio Tapia, 92, our beloved husband, father and grandfather, went home Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at his home in Albuquerque, NM, surrounded by his loving family. Phil was a proud Veteran of the US Army Air Corp where he served during World War II for two years. He retired from the Civil Service after working for 33 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Phil was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Martina Tapia; father, Jesus Maria Tapia; mother, Crucita Tapia; sisters, Jenny Hernandez, Nora Lopez, Adelina Montoya, Helen Armijo and brothers, Joe Tapia and Juan Tapia, special sister-in-laws Modesta Romero and Juania Sena. Phil is survived by his daughter, Nellie and husband Gilbert Artiaga; grandson, Gilbert Artiaga Jr.; granddaughter; Monica and husband Austin Zachary; sister, Consuelo Armijo; brothers, Charlie Tapia and Miguel Tapia; other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. Services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco Dr. SW. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, March 12, 2007 at 7:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. TUCKER -- Leana Hazlewood Tucker, 87, passed away on March 7, 2007, ten days after Carlin Tucker, her husband of 64 years. Mrs. Tucker was born in Estancia, New Mexico on May 27, 1919. While raising a large family, she worked as a volunteer and as an employee of the Brothers of the Good Shepherds. She is preceded in death by a son, Nick Tucker and two daughters, Julie Tucker and Tina Richey. She was a member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. She is survived by her children Joan Garcia and husband, Michael, Toby Tucker and wife, Maribeth, Terri Tucker, Steve Tucker and wife, Kerri, Karlin Urioste and husband, Tony, and Bill Tucker and wife, Monica; and ten grandchildren. Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, 2007 at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 4th Street & Alameda, Albuquerque. VAN DIELEN -- Gary William Van Dielen, a long-time resident of Los Lunas passed away Thursday, March 1, 2007 after a short illness. He was born in Elkhart Indiana on January 15, 1963. His long-time companion, Kathy Trujillo; two daughters, Kathryn and husband, Edward Louton; grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth, Madison Olivia and Emily Grace of Springdale, AR, survives Gary. Sarah and husband, Philip Esminger and grandchild, Sammy of Little Rock, AR. His son, John Edens and wife, Courtney of Conway, AR. His sister, Beverly Boughton of Moriarty; two brothers, John also of Moriarty and Ken and wife, Debbie of Edgewood; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed. Funeral arrangements are pending.

VINSANT -- Mozelle Vinsant. A celebration of life for Mozelle "MO" Vinsant, 89, of Ruidoso will be Saturday, March 17, at 11:00 a.m. in the First Christian Church in Ruidoso followed by a church sponsored reception. Burial will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery, officiating will be the Rev. Jim Smith. Mrs. Vinsant passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2007, in Ruidoso. She was born in Siler City, NC, on July 5, 1917. She attended Silk Hope Elementary and High School and Mars Hill Jr. College. She earned her nursing degree from North Carolina Baptist Hospital at Winston-Salem. She served as a Captain in the Army Nurse Corp during World War II working at Fort Bragg, Oliver General and Walter Reed and was stationed for a time in India. Upon return to the states, she continued on in the Reserves where she attained the rank of Major. She served as the chief nurse at the Chalotte Regional American Red Cross Blood Center. In 1951 she moved to Albuquerque to work at the V.A. Hospital where she met and married Thurman Wallace Vinsant. They eventually moved to Roswell where she worked as a Public Health Nurse for the rest of her career serving as the supervisor for Lincoln, Eddy, Lee, Chaves and Otero counties during her tenure. She was responsible for helping establish the Health Department in Ruidoso. She was also instrumental in starting the Hospice Program that served her so well in her final months. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman; her parents, Rufus and Carrie Brewer and two brothers, Harry Brewer and J. Warren Brewer. She is survived by sister, Carrie Campen of Beaufort, NC; and a brother, Rufus Brewer Jr. of Siler City, NC; two daughters, Sue Vinsant of Ruidoso and Peggy Benson; and her husband Rick of Albuquerque; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great -grandnephews. The family has requested memorials to Ruidoso Home Care and Hospice Foundation, PO Box 2019, Ruidoso, NM; American Heart Association, New Mexico Office, PO Box 90790, Albuquerque, NM or the Arthritis Foundation, Donation Department, PO Box 96280, Washington, DC 20077.
