Obituary for SHULSE

Larry W. Shulse, 63, a longtime resident of Alamogordo, died Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at his home. Mr. Shulse was born July 22, 1943 in Hannibal, Missouri to John Wallace and Donna Jean (Griffith) Shulse. His family moved to Albuquerque where he lived for many years. He graduated from Highland High School, then received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of New Mexico in history and political science. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. After starting his career in insurance, he moved to Alamogordo in 1975 and was a partner in Lynch & Shulse Insurance and Bonds. He has been active in community affairs and was a longtime member and former chairman of the Otero County Economic Development Council, a former chairman of the Committee of 50, and a member of St. Jude Mission. Survivors include his wife of 38 years Kathy Shulse of the family home; two sons, Jeffrey Shulse and his wife Tiffany of Houston, and David Shulse of Denver; a granddaughter Kathryn Elizabeth Shulse of Houston; his mother Donna Jean Shulse of Center, Missouri; a sister Linda Laird and her husband Alan of New London, Missouri; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father. A vigil service will be conducted Sunday at 7:00 p.m. in the Hamilton-O'Dell Chapel with the Rosary to be recited by the St. Jude Rosary Society. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude Mission with Father Wayne D. Herpin, S.J. as celebrant.
