John Byron Hiller, age 89, of Albuquerque, is now peacefully at home with God, as of Thursday, March 8, 2007. John served during WWII in the United States Navy from 1943-1946. His rank was Elec. Technician Mate 1st Class. John was an electrical engineer with Sandia Labs, retiring after 20 years in 1976. After retirement, he spent the following 22 years on his farm in Deadwood, SD. He returned to Albuquerque to be close to his family in 2000. John was a noted inventor, horseshoe player, published poet, and yodeler, who loved working his farm in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Even in his later years, he remained active, achieving many awards in the Senior Olympics. He never met a stranger, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. John is survived by three daughters, Judy Moore and husband Robert, Kimberly Saavedra and husband Gilbert, Shannon Lucero; grandchildren, Todd & wife Kelly, Troy & wife Tera, Brett & wife Paula, Jolene, Gavin; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Brooklyne, and Noah. He was preceded in death by a son, Dannie Marsh; granddaughter, Kristen. A Committal Service will be held Tuesday, March 13, at 11:00 a.m., at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
