AHERN -- Mary Stokes Ahern wife of the late Cornelius M. Ahern died December 1, 2004 in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she resided since 1991. She was born in West Haven, CT on March 27, 1921 daughter of Frank and Helen Nix Stokes. She attended Southern Connecticut State University. Prior to retirement she was an insurance bookkeeper in New Haven, CT. She was a Past President of the New Haven, CT Association of Insurance Women, a member of the New Haven Gaelic and Hurling Club and a charter member of the Irish American Historical Society of New Haven. While residing in New Haven, CT she was appointed by Mayor Frank Logue to the Equal Opportunity Commission and was later appointed a Commissioner on the New Haven Civil Defense Advisory Board by Mayor Biagio DiLieto. From 1987 to 1991 she wrote a monthly column "Rememberin" for the New Haven Register. She is survived by: a daughter, Mary Ahern Sorcinelli of Albuquerque; a son, Attorney Anthony E. Ahern of Westport, CT; and a grandson, Alexander Ahern. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Kennedy and Rita O'Connor. ANGEL -- Elfides A. Angel was born February 28, 1925 and passed away Monday, November 29, 2004. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe E. Angel, and ten brothers and sisters. Elfides is survived by her son, John Angel and wife Joann; step-sons, Bob Angel and wife Sarouch, Leroy Pino and wife Bella; step-daughter, Loretta Angel; two grandchildren, Jacob and Elizabeth Angel; sisters, Basilia Cordova and husband Pablo, and Maria Montoya. Services will be held at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 4th and Alameda NW. A Rosary will be recited on Sunday, December 5, 2004 at 7:00pm. ARAGON -- Jordyn Leanna Aragon, born October 11, 2004, Jordyn was called home to God on her 45th day. She brought great joy and love in her short time with us. "Mi Linda" will be greatly missed. BURGER -- Louis G. Burger, 95, a resident of Silver City, died Friday, December 3, 2004. Mr. Burger was a former resident of Albuquerque. He retired as Deputy Chief of Supply at KAFB in 1971 and was a member of Central Seventh Day Adventist Church in Albuquerque. Mr. Burger was an avid golfer. He is survived by his daughters, Joy and husband, Dwight Simpson of Silver City and Sherry and husband, Hobert Parker, Jr. of Lompoc, CA; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. DABBS -- Thurman Chafee Dabbs entered into the presence of his Heavenly Father on Thursday, November 25, 2004. He was born in Burlington, NC on November 1, 1928. His adult life was lived in service to his Lord, his country and others. As a medical doctor, he served in the United States Air Force stateside in Puerto Rico and Vietnam. As a medical missionary, he served the poor here and abroad. He is survived by a brother, Lowell; two sons, Steve and Carlo; three daughters, Jewel, Lucy, and Sharon; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He left a legacy of prayer and passionate service to the Lord. Phil. 1: 20 "So that now, as always, Christ will be exalted in my body whether by life or by death!" DETORIE -- George W. Detorie, 80, passed away Friday, December 3, 2004 at his home in Gallup, NM. Mr. Detorie was born in Norristown, PA, moved to Albuquerque in 1958 and has lived in Gallup for the past 30 years. He earned a Juris Doctorate from Catholic University and a BSS from Georgetown University. He was a World War II veteran. He was a teacher with the Gallup McKinley in County Schools. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge. His interests included golf, politics, the performing arts, coffee with the boys, and a special love for his family and students. Survivors include his wife, Judith Detorie; sons, Daniel Detorie, George Detorie, Nicholas Detorie; daughters, Deborah Detorie, Carolyn Ehlert, and Pamela Geatz. A funeral Mass for Mr. Detorie will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 7, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 415 East Green Ave., Gallup, NM. A celebration of his life will follow the Mass at the Gallup Elks Lodge. A Private disposition will be in Santa Fe National Cemetery. GALLAGHER -- Charles W. -- A resident of Paradise Hills and Rio Rancho and Member of St. Thomas Parish passed away Friday in Connecticut at the age of 92. He lived in New Mexico from 1972 until August 2004. The World War II and Korean War U.S. Navy Veteran is survived by his beloved wife Mary "Kay" Gallagher; one daughter Regina McGowan of Cheshire, Ct.; three sons: John and his wife Pauline of Bath, Me., Michael and his wife Rebecca of Rio Rancho and Timothy and his wife Cheryl of Somis, Calif.. He was preceeded in death by his loving son Charles of Rio Rancho. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and on great grandson. Before moving to New Mexico to enjoy his retirement Charles worked at the U.S. Naval Shipyard in Brooklyn N.Y. and at the U.S. Navy Applied Sciences Laboratory. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Cheshire on Monday morning at St. Thomas Beckett Roman Catholic Church.

GLOCKER -- Mildred McGehee Glocker, 95, was born in St. Louis, MO April 25 1909 and passed from this earth on November 24, 2004. She was the daughter of Charles Albert Glocker and Edith Petrie Glocker, and the great granddaughter of Thomas Dudley Isom, MD a founding settler of Oxford, MS and the university located there. Mildred worked in a Civil Service career for over 45 years. At age 18 (1927), she began working at the Veterans Administration in Dayton, OH in the Eligibility Dept. and worked there until 1941 when she transferred to a better position as budget analyst at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base where she remained until her retirement in 1972. She and her sister, Margaret Allen Glocker, moved to La Vida Llena Life Care Retirement Community in October of 1994 to be near their sister, Edith Glocker Kirkpatrick. She attended the University of Dayton and Wittenberg College. She was a life long Presbyterian and in her later years, was an active member of Northminster Presbyterian Church in Dayton, OH. She is survived by her first cousin, Petrie Mitchell and wife, Mary Belle, of Nashville, TN; Lynna Mitchell of Huntsville AL, the widow of her late cousin, Charles Mitchell; her second cousin, Ann Smith Carr and husband, Gary, of St. Louis, MO, as well as a number of other cousins. Mildred was a very independent minded person, was deeply interested in history, genealogy, flowers, birds, music, and considered things in depth before giving an opinion or response. She lived in her own independent apartment with her constant companion, Cat-Boots (age 17). A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, December 16, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at La Vida Llena, Carter Hall, 10501 Lagrima de Oro NE. Graveside services and burial will be in Dayton, OH at Dayton Memorial Park where her parents and sister, Margaret are buried. Pastor Ed McNulty will conduct the graveside services assisted by her cousin, Petrie Mitchell. The family would like to thank all the people who have been so attentive to Mildred's needs these last few years, who have honored her wishes to remain as independent as possible with caregiver assistance, and provided care, comfort, companionship, interaction and consideration. IRVINE -- 1949-2004 Michael Ross Irvine passed away on November 29, 2004 at the age of 55. He died in the comfort of his home surrounded by those who loved him. He is survived by his wife Colleen; his stepsons Joseph and Jeremy Golino; a daughter Dawn; a son Jeff,;his sister Patricia; and several grandchildren. KURACINA -- Theresa A. went to be with the Lord December 1, 2004 after a long illness. A resident of Alameda, NM since January 2002, she was born in Johnson City, NY on April 7, 1929 into the loving family of Anna Chmel Bobik and Joseph Bobik. She married Charles G. Kuracina in 1949, was welcomed into his wonderful family, and widowed in 1960. She was predeceased by her parents, younger sister Anne Kachmar and grand-dogs Dakota, Daisy and Mae. She is survived by her two sons Alec and Thomas; daughter Theresa Ann, favorite son-in-law Harry Hunsaker, grand-dog protector Max; sister Mary Ann and her husband Nick Lewkovich; brother Joseph Bobik; sisters-in-law Mary and Barbara Kuracina; Bobik cousins Betsy, Annie and Steve; many loving nieces and nephews; and beloved caregiver Otilia M. Garcia. She was the bookkeeper for Blessed Sacrament Church, Johnson City, NY for many years; retired from the Broome County Finance Department, Binghamton, NY and a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Alameda., NM. She raised her children at the family home on Lauderdale Drive, Vestal, NY where the backyard was the neighborhood playing field. Theresa believed in doing the little things in life well and with great love. She especially loved children, nurturing and feeding the neighborhood kids as if they were her own. She enjoyed her neighbors, sewing, gardening, picnicking at the pond, camping, feeding the wildlife in her backyard through the winter months and loved the brightly colored cardinals. Theresa's thoughtful, generous and loving nature was appreciated by all who knew her. LADEWIG -- Marsha Carroll Ladewig passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2004. She is survived by her two sons, Dustyn, and wife, Kim Crismore Ladewig and Kevin Ladewig; mother Allene Smith; sisters Celia Hulett, Karen Simpson and Freda Reust, all of Albuquerque; numerous nieces and nephews and her dog, Patches. She was preceded in death by her father, R. D. Smith; sister, Joyce Walker and brother, Bobby Smith. Marsha was born Friday, September 29, 1944 in Santa Fe, NM to R.D. and Allene Morton Smith. She was a licensed financial broker and at one time a flight attendant with Frontier Airlines. She was a talented decorator and craftsperson winning many ribbons at the New Mexico State Fair. LOUCK -- Joe Louck, 34, of Santa Fe, died of pneumonia at Lovelace Medical Center, Albuquerque, November 28, 2004. Joe was born April 10, 1970 in Los Alamos and grew up there. He graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1988. He enjoyed greatly the outdoors, camping, hiking, caving, and horse back riding with his brothers and friends. He loved animals, especially dogs, and his kindness opened the door to many. He also loved children, and entertained many at Halloween with his unique costumes, decorations, and personally prepared hand-outs to the trick-or-treat callers. He was a graduate of the University of New Mexico in 1993 with a degree in biochemistry. He held himself and his colleagues to the highest standard of integrity and honesty in his chosen profession of environmental engineering, which led him through a number of challenging jobs, the most recent being with Adelante Consulting. His brother, Sam, preceding him in death in 1995. He is survived by his parents, Jim and Marge Louck, former Los Alamos residents, now in Santa Fe; his brother, Tom, of Albuquerque; and many other friends and relatives. MCCRACKEN -- Beulah A. McCracken, 96, a resident of Albuquerque since 1945, died Thursday, December 2, 2004. MERRIKEN -- Steven G. Merriken, age 52, passed away peacefully at home, Monday, November 29, 2004, after a long illness. He was born in Glendale, California and moved to Albuquerque as a child. Steven proudly served his country in the US. Army, and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his father and a niece. ROSS -- Mary E. S. Ross, 81 of Albuquerque, NM passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 30, 2004. Mary was born on February 2, 1923 in Asbury Park NJ, the first daughter of Dr. John Patterson Sampson and Agnes M. Henry Sampson. She graduated from Asbury Park High (1941) and Trenton State Teachers College (1945) majoring in elementary education. She earned a Masters of Education Degree from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff in 1968. Married in 1947 to Louis Ross of Asbury Park, she had one son. She divorced and moved to New Mexico in 1953 where she joined the Bureau of Indian Affairs, serving on the Pueblo and Navajo Reservations in many locations. She was a teacher, principal, BIA administrator in Washington D.C. and an Area Director in Window Rock, AZ where she retired from the BIA in 1984. Mary moved to Albuquerque, was an honored member of the Daughters of the King, Society of Mary and the Altar Guild for St. Mary's Episcopal Church. Mary actively volunteered with the Gray Gladiators, working with the Museum of Natural History, the annual Balloon Festival, the annual Gathering of Nations Pow Wow, the public library and other events. She enjoyed the Senior Knitting Club, crossword puzzles, tennis and travel. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. ROYAL -- Frances (Perea) Royal went to her heavenly home to meet Jesus on Saturday, December 4, 2004. She was the 8th child of Donaciano and Carmen Perea. SIBBITT -- Mrs. Selma D. Sibbitt, of Los Alamos, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2004 after a lengthy illness at the home of her son, John H. Sibbitt in Albuquerque. Born Selma Doris Otte November 9, 1922 in Okarche, Canadian County, OK to the German immigrant parents Rev. Theodore Carl Otte, a Lutheran pastor, and Martha Amelia Kubisch. Mrs. Sibbitt was 7th of 11 children. Mrs. Sibbitt attended the Lutheran elementary school and the public high school in Okarche, OK, and was an Oklahoma high school basketball star. During World War II, she attended the University of Oklahoma, vigorously supported the war effort on campus, and matriculated in 1944 with a Bachelor of Library Science degree. While working as a technical librarian at Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville, OK she met Dr. Wilmer L. Sibbitt, Sr., whom she later married in Atlanta, Georgia on Sept 12, 1947. While playing with the company basketball teams at Phillips Petroleum, Inc in Oklahoma and Clinton National Laboratory in Oakridge, TN, she earned the title of All-American Basketball Player. Dr. Sibbitt's career led the couple to Clinton National Laboratory in Oakridge, TN, Purdue University, Lafayette, IN, Ramo-Woolridge Corp., Redondo Beach, CA, and finally in 1956 to Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory in Los Alamos, where Mrs. Sibbitt spent the remainder of her life at home as wife, home maker, and mother of six children. She was very active in the Ladies Aide of Grace Lutheran Church in Los Alamos, and was an expert on flowers and floral arrangements. Her husband, Dr. Wilmer L. Sibbitt, Sr., preceded her in death on September 9, 1982. Her siblings Ruth H. Geihsler, Ernst A. Otte, Edwin A. Otte, Luella M. Otte, Theodore C. Otte, Adeline M. Veideman, Gerald P. Otte, and Robert A. Otte also preceded her in death. Mrs. Sibbitt traveled extensively with her children until she became ill with aortic stenosis, a heart condition that has restricted her to her son John's home for the last 12 months in Albuquerque. She is survived by her children Sharon M. Kettwich, MD and husband Donald Kettwich, MD of Albuquerque, Sallye Lou C. Sibbitt of Los Alamos, Tina R. Sibbitt, JD of Albuquerque, Randy R. Sibbitt, MD and wife Debby of Helena, MT, and John H. Sibbitt and Wilmer L. Sibbitt, Jr., MD both of Albuquerque, and her grandchildren Lori A. and Cristina R. Sibbitt of Helena, MT, and Sharon Cassandra, Lawrence Gerhardt, Scarlett A., and Selma D. Kettwich of Albuquerque. She is also survived by two older sisters, Mrs. Mildred E. Lechner of Ft. Lawton, OK, and Mrs. Lorraine D. Duffy of Houston, TX, as well as 31 nephews and nieces and many other extended family members. STROM -- Nadine, On November 30, 2004 Nadine M. Strom lost her life in a tragic auto accident. Nadine was born August 17, 1930 to Jack and Paula Donner in Burwell, Nebraska. Nadine and her family grew up in many different areas in the western United States. Nadine graduated from high school in New Plymouth Idaho where she meet her husband Floyd Strom of 53 years. Floyd and Nadine were married in San Diego on January 20, 1951. After Floyd was discharged from the service they moved to New Mexico where they raised their three children. Nadine and Floyd moved to Edgewood in 1975 were they have continue to live. Nadine's passion was horses. She purchased her first Arabian horse in 1971 which became her life long passion. Nadine was a member the New Mexico Arabian Association for many years and a charter member of the Edgewood saddle club. Nadine was dedicated to showmanship and was still taking lessons up to the end of her life. She is still riding the trails. She is survived by Floyd Strom, husband; Vicki Strom, daughter, and Vicki's two sons; daughter-in-laws and two grandchildren; Calvin Strom, son, and daughter-in-law Mary Margaret, and three daughters; Gary Strom, son and daughter-in-law Glenda; two daughters, two sons and eight grandchildren. SWANSON -- Joyce Tuck Swanson was born June 5, 1927. She attended grade and high school in Sioux City, Iowa then went to the University of Minnesota where she graduated from nursing school. She worked in a hospital in Sioux City for awhile. Her half sister Audrey wanted to go for adventure and together they headed for Albuquerque. There she worked as a school nurse for twenty-nine years. She retired in 1988. She married Arnold Swanson October 27, 1972. After they both retired they traveled extensively, doing both long and short trips. Joyce enjoyed cats, her work and travel. Since she had no children of her own, she missed the children at school so much after retirement. Joyce is survived by her step-daughter Carolyn Weisleder. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, December 9, 2004 at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale Blvd. SE. TAYLOR -- Helen May Taylor, 84, a resident of Albuquerque, and former resident of Columbus, OH, died on Friday, December 3, 2004. She is survived by her son, Thomas Wallace and wife Mary of Austin, TX; daughters, Linda Taylor and Shelly Taylor; granddaughters, Lauren Taylor and Regan Wallace; and grandsons Eric Kuntz and Derek Wallace, all of Albuquerque; sister, Pauline Daly of Ventura, CA; and her pet cat, Smokey. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard. Helen served in the Women's Auxiliary Corp during WWII, was a lifetime member of AMVETS, and a member of the Rio Rancho United Methodist Church. TOMLINSON -- Richard Tomlinson, 56, a resident of Albuquerque, died on December 2, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Albuquerque; daughter, Michelle Martinez and husband, Joseph Paul; two sons, Michael Tomlinson and wife, Joy and Matthew Tomlinson, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Alexis and Amanda Martinez; brother, Bruce Tomlinson and wife, Irene Serna of Tempe, AZ; father in law, Cresenciano Garcia; mother in law, Elsie Garcia; sister in law, Emma Garcia; brother in laws, Henry Garcia and wife, Stella, Charles Garcia and wife, Diana, Tim Garcia and Mike Hankinson. Richard is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was born in Cambridge, MA and moved to New Mexico at the age of 9 years. He graduated from Manzano H.S. in 1966. He attended Highlands University earning his degree in computer engineering, where he met the love of his life, Dorothy. They were married on November 1, 1969 in Clayton, NM. He enjoyed working in the computer software and hardware industry. He coached his sons soccer teams. He built and raced remote controlled model airplanes and cars with his children. He and his sons designed, made, & threw boomerangs. He was involved in every aspect of his family's lives. He was also devoted to his church and choir. One of his favorite ministries was the Christmas Basket program. Rosary will be recited on Sunday, December 5, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church, 5901 St. Joseph Dr. NW. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 a.m. also at the church with Father Frank Prieto, celebrant. Burial will follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park in Rio Rancho. WALKER -- Dorothy Jean Walker September 28, 1930 - November 9, 2004 Dorothy was ill with emphysema for the past five years. As per requested, her body was donated to science, at the University of New Mexico. Dorothy was born in Albuquerque and attended the Sacred Heart High School in Gallup, New Mexico. Dorothy's daughter, Mary Eileen Motley, preceded her in death. Surviving are two granddaughters and one grandson; a sister, Mary E. Yops; and a brother, Wm. Peter Walker. Dorothy was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Charles Walker of Gallup and Albuquerque.

WHELAN -- James W. Whelan of Albuquerque died on Wednesday, December 1, 2004 in his home at the age of 88. He was born in Mondovi, WI on December 15, 1915 to Judd and Shirley Whelan. The last of their seven children, he earned his Masters Degree from West Texas University and taught Geography and Math in Bovina, TX and Farmington, NM. He retired in 1978 and moved to Albuquerque. He traveled around the world, and extensively in Europe, the British Isles, Australia and South America. He served in the Army during World War II. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Geraldine; two sons, Larry Whelan of Temple City, CA, and Michael Whelan of Bozeman, MT; a daughter, Beverly Whelan of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was a Mason for over 50 years and was active in the St. Stephens United Methodist Church for 25 years. He was well liked and respected by all who knew him. A Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 18 at St. Stephens, 4601 Juan Tabo Blvd. NE. A private graveside service will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. WILSON -- William Charles Wilson, born 3 July 1928 to James L. & Lily Wilson in Cass County, Illinois. He had three brothers and two sisters. He was in the Air Force 1950-1954 in the Korean War. Graduated from DeVry Institute in Chicago and went to work for Sandia Labs in 1957 - retired 31 years later. As a Field Engineer he worked at many test sites, including Carlsbad, Nevada, Oak Ridge, Wyoming, and Hawaii. He had two children from his first marriage - Steven C. Wilson and Susan Lynn Caskey - both of Albuquerque, NM. His wife of 27 years, Katheryn Wilson, was with him when he died in El Paso, Texas on November 30, 2004. He will be sorely missed by his longtime friend, Jim Burns of Las Vegas, Nevada. Bill loved spending time at his place near Cuba, NM. Hope you're there, Bill, enjoying the wind in the pines and aspens.
