Obituary for DETORIE

George W. Detorie, 80, passed away Friday, December 3, 2004 at his home in Gallup, NM. Mr. Detorie was born in Norristown, PA, moved to Albuquerque in 1958 and has lived in Gallup for the past 30 years. He earned a Juris Doctorate from Catholic University and a BSS from Georgetown University. He was a World War II veteran. He was a teacher with the Gallup McKinley in County Schools. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge. His interests included golf, politics, the performing arts, coffee with the boys, and a special love for his family and students. Survivors include his wife, Judith Detorie; sons, Daniel Detorie, George Detorie, Nicholas Detorie; daughters, Deborah Detorie, Carolyn Ehlert, and Pamela Geatz. A funeral Mass for Mr. Detorie will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 7, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 415 East Green Ave., Gallup, NM. A celebration of his life will follow the Mass at the Gallup Elks Lodge. A Private disposition will be in Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to RMCH Hospice, 650 Vandenbosch Hwy., Gallup, NM 87301.
