ARVIDSON -- Scott I will live righteous I will live to give my all I will live to help others A positive life is all that matters. These words were left for us to live by when the Lord came and led Scott "Scotty" Arvidson, born July 30, 1985 to heaven on October 7, 2004. Loving memories have been left for those who will always remember Scott in their hearts. CHEWIWI -- Diana Jaramillo Chewiwi November 6, 1939 - October 10, 2003 No more talking and laughing on the phone several times a day. No more "Dorothy, let's go see Al Hurricane." No more Summerfest; no more Church Fiestas. No more State Fair. There's times I still can't believe she's gone. This has been one of the saddest years in my life. DALE -- Jerry Jack Dale Sr., 66, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2004 after a battle with Emphysema. Peacefully, he surrendered the battle, as he was surrounded by his beloved wife and daughters. Jerry was preceded in death by his son, Jerry, and parents, Rusco and Harriett Dale. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn; daughters, Angelyna and Kathy (Eldon); son, Mark (Raven); stepchildren, Jessica, Joni, and Jonah Roybal; grandchildren, Kendall, Bailey, Gabriella Dale, and Asha Scott. Jack was an artist and designed clothing with a turn of the Century feel. A church service was held at Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church where he was a member. Some of his ashes will be scattered in Kansas, where he was from, and in Taos where his son, Jerry, is buried. Jack will be remembered for his compassion, friendliness, and talent he shared with all. DAVIDSON -- Frances Ruth Davidson, age 82, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2004 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born October 12, 1921 in Kansas to Samuel and Cleo Richardson Waldorf. Frances was a longtime member of the Latter Day Saints Sage Ward in Albuquerque and retired from the Albuquerque Public Schools where she was an administrative assistant for the Elementary schools. She was loved by the community, church, and family who will miss her dearly. Preceding her death was her husband, Lester Earl Davidson. Survivors include; two daughters, Debra Davidson, Dina Reid and husband Charles; one son, Daryl Davidson, all of Albuquerque; Eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held Monday, October 11, 2004 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, Albuquerque, NM. ENDZEL -- Nell R. Endzel RN, 66, a resident of Albuquerque since 1994, died Wednesday, October 6, 2004. She is survived by her sons, Edward W. Endzel, Jr. and wife, Barbara of Albuquerque and Gregory G. Endzel and wife, Becky of Bernalillo; grandson, Eric Endzel; great-granddaughter, Mikayla McMillen; step-granddaughter, Amanda Barr; and family friend, Nancy Bennett. Nell loved the opera and enjoyed her season tickets to the Santa Fe Opera, Pope Joy Hall Ovation Series, Albuquerque Symphony, and other art festivals. FLANAGAN -- William "Bill" Flanagan, 84, passed away on October 6, 2004 in Albuquerque. He was born on September 20, 1920 in Schenectady, NY, and graduated from the University of Florida in 1942 with a BS/BA and a commission in ROTC. Bill proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1942 until 1948. He was with the first 306th bomb group that flew over Germany in WWII. Upon his return to service in the U.S, he became disabled, and as a paraplegic, he attended the University of Miami Law School and graduated with an LLB and a J.D. He started his own law practice in 1953, and was an attorney until his retirement in 1982. Mr. Flanagan is survived by his wife of 51 years, Helen Flanagan; daughter, Sandra Schroeder, of Belleville, IL; sister, Rosemary Browne, of Austin, TX; and granddaughter, Jill Nichole Schroeder, of Los Angeles, CA. Visitation and Wake services will be held from 8:45-9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 11 at Prince of Peace, 12500 Carmel NE. FLUKE -- Ruth H. Fluke, a resident of Albuquerque since 1938, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2004. GARCIA -- Sabro. Mr. Sabro J. Garcia, 81, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on October 5, 2004. Mr. Garcia is survived by his children, Joaquin (Jake) L. Garcia, Irma Johnson and husband, Vernon, Oscar J. Garcia and wife, Jeanette; a sister, Priscilla Aragon; brother in law, Senor Moises Almeida Sr.; sister in law, Senora Hayde Almeida; five grandchildren, Justin Johnson and wife, Gena, Marisol Doyle and husband, John, Adrian Johnson and wife, Debbie, Erik Garcia and Jennifer Garcia; one great grandson, Michael Vernon; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends. KERR-SANDERS -- Patricia Keely Kerr-Sanders, 71, beloved wife and mother peacefully passed away in Los Angeles, CA on Saturday, October 2, 2004. Survived by her husband John P. Sanders, her brother Jack T. Keely & his wife Kathleen Keely, her children: Michael Kerr, Chuck Kerr, Mark and wife Bonnie Kerr, Scotty Kerr, Anne Kerr-Magel and husband Bill Magel, and her extended family Mike Sanders and wife Linda , Tim Sanders and wife Nancy, Carolyn Sanders, nine grandchildren and one great grandson on the way, including many dear friends. Predeceased by: Maurice H. Keely and Mayoma T. Keely (both listed in New Mexico History Vol III), and John B. Kerr. Patricia obtained a Masters Degree in Education from UNM and worked for APS as a teacher for 26 years focusing attention on the Gifted Program. A trainer for students in conflict mediation during her teaching career and founder for Conflict Mediation in the Schools Training (MIST Team) after retirement she continued volunteering for various organizations and was the assistant coordinator for the NM Nat'l History Day Program, she was Secretary for the Cross Country Ski Club, as well as a member of various womans' groups. Patricia was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist Albuquerque since 1960 and First Church of Christ, Scientist (Mother Church) in Boston since 1955. She was awarded the APS Nick Nellos Anti-Violence Award in 2003 and Years of Steadfast Leadership MIST Award. Longtime theater and drama devotee. MAXWELL -- Minerva (Mickie) Ann Sandoval Maxwell. On October 5, 2004 we lost our beloved mother and best friend, Minerva (Mickie) Ann Sandoval Maxwell. She was born in Albuquerque, NM in 1924 to Henry and Lilian Sandoval. She graduated school at St. Mary's Catholic School. After school, she repaired instrument panels in airplanes for the government's war effort. Mickie met George Lee Maxwell while he was stationed at the University of New Mexico for Officer Candidate Training. They were married at the war's end and celebrated 55 years of marriage before George passed away in September, 2001. They lived Utah, California, New Mexico, and, for the last 45 years, in Winnemucca and Battle Mountain, Nevada. George and Mickie had two daughters, Lilian Kay Underwood (Rodney) and Leslie Maxwell-Burton. She also leaves a granddaughter, Kathleen Trindade (Silvio); two great-grandchildren, Amanda and Rachel Trindade; a sister, Henrietta Meyer; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, George, and her sister, Pauline. Mickie was devoted to her family and they adored her. Her time was spent caring for her family and creating needlework art and crafts that will surround us with love forever. She loved to read and loved having a good mystery or a new history book to read. We will all miss her sage advice, her everyday common sense, and her sense of humor. As per mother's request, no services are planned. Her final resting place will be with dad at the Northern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, NV. MORTIMER -- Emma E. Mortimer passed away October 7, 2004 at the age of 91. She was born in Pueblo, CO on December 16, 1912 to Anna and James McIntire. She attended school in Boulder and Denver and attended Greeley Teachers College to become a school teacher. In 1933 she married Forrest E. Mortimer. For many years Emma worked for the Jefferson County School system. They lived in the Golden-Denver area until Forrest's retirement from Mountain Bell Telephone Co. They moved to Utah and Washington State for a short time and settled in Albuquerque in 1988. Emma had a very creative mind and enjoyed working with her various crafts. She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Forrest; two brothers, Carl and Harold McIntire; and one sister, Enda Jenkins. She is survived by two daughters, Carol and husband, John Simpson of Manson, WA and Particia A. and husband, David Perovich of Albuquerque; one sister, Ruth Barefield of San Antonio, TX; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a favorite charity in her name. Graveside services will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery on Monday, October 11, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Robert Stone of Covenant United Methodist Church officiating. PETTIT -- Miriam K. Pettit, 49, of Moriarty , passed away of October 9, 2004 in Albuquerque. Miriam was born on September 5, 2004 in Fort Sumner to Merrill and Ruby Frances. She has lived in Moriarty for 20 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Moriarty. Miriam had worked as an accountant with Monarch Properties and was an avid bicyclist. Her family remembers her most as a wonderful wife, sister, and daughter. Miriam is preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Frances, in 1994. She is survived by her husband, Richard of Moriarty; her father Merrill and step-mother Lois of Moriarty. She is also survived by three brothers, Arley Larson of Maryville, Missouri, Raymond Larson of Brownfield, Texas and H.C. "Shorty" Larson of Georgetown, Colorado. PUCKETT -- John Milton, age 73, died Sunday, October 3, 2004. He was born October 27, 1930 in Rogers, AR, grew up in rural NM, graduated from Deming High School, and spent most of his adult years in Albuquerque. A graduate of University of New Mexico, he was a civil engineer with the NM State Highway Dept. and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He is survived by his wife Joanne; son Timothy John Puckett and daughter-in-law Julie Puckett of Traverse City, MI; daughter Theresa Jean Puckett of San Francisco, CA; and granddaughters Megan Eve and Abigail Elyse Puckett of Traverse City, MI. He was a member of ASCE, NSPE, Chi Epsilon, NARFE, First Presbyterian Church, and bowled for many years in the YMCA Church League. In retirement he volunteered at the Menaul Historical Library and enjoyed genealogy, reading, stamp-collecting, and travel. He was a 50 year UNM alumnus and a loyal Lobo fan. He loved New Mexico, Ghost Ranch, and the Jemez Mountains. SCHOENFELD -- Mary E. Schoenfeld, a former resident of Albuquerque, died October 5, 2004 in Durango, CO at the age of 82. Mary was born in Durham, NC on July 22, 1922 to Frank and Wilhelmina Upchurch. She received her bachelor of music degree from Rollins College at Winter Park, FL. After marrying Morton G. Schoenfeld, they moved to Albuquerque in the early 1940s where she was involved with the music community of New Mexico, performing at numerous concerts and teaching children over the years. In 1970 she moved to Taos, NM where she taught music in the outlying schools for 25 years. She was preceeded in death by her daughter, Susan Schoenfeld; and granddaughter, Rachel Light. Mary is survived by her daughter, Jane Schold of Durango; two sons, Jerry Schoenfeld of Pahrump, NV, David Schoenfeld of Albuquerque; six Grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

SEUNTJENS -- Clara L. Seuntjens passed away October 7, 2004, to join her Lord and her loving husband who passed away in 1952. Clara was born February 21, 1911 in Wall Lake, IA. In 1945, she, her husband, and three children, left Iowa at the advise of a doctor to find a climate that would hopefully ease her husband's lung problems. They finally decided on Albuquerque. Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent; infant son, Verle; and grandson, Raymond D. Palmer. She is survived by her sons, Donald L. Seuntjens and wife, Sue of Tucumcari; Gerald P. SMITH -- Orville Clinton, Jr. (Smitty), passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2004 at the VA Medical Center. He was born July 10, 1922, the eldest son of Orville C. Smith, Sr. and Mildred Stroup Hussey Smith, in Rockland, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ruth, infant daughter Marsha, two half-brothers, and half-sister. He is survived by his beloved wife, Connie, three daughters Linda, Babette, Barbara and their respective spouses, one son and his wife, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Other survivors include two sisters, two brothers, many nieces and nephews who loved and will miss Bub and his great stories. He honorably served his country during World War 11 as a B-17 pilot and was a P.O.W. for 19 months. SPENCER -- Maxine. Memorial Service for Maxine Lorraine Guevara Spencer. Died July 16, 2002. It was our mother's wishes that her seven children would all have a chance to gather for her memorial. James Spencer has been serving in Iraq and is only now able to join us. Maxine, our beloved mother and friend, was born in Carrizozo, NM on February 22, 1932. She was our constant, our rock. We will always miss and remember her physical presence, her agape love, her famous cooking, and her family gatherings during birthdays and holidays. She lived a full life, and she was always there for her children and grandchildren. She is survived by: daughter Sandra Haley, husband Jim from Manchester, TN, and their children Angelique Stidham and husband Darrel, great-grandchildren Alex and Haley, grandson Jimmy Haley, great-grandchildren Kayla and Duce; daughter Deborah Blanchard of Albuquerque, grandchildren Kerensa, great-grandchildren Uriah, Angelique, and Jacqueline, granddaughter Lucille, and grandson Pax; son Bill Shaw of Albuquerque, granddaughters Chanda, Brandy, great-grandson Daniel, granddaughters Ali, and Anna Marie; daughter Patricia Walden and husband Mike of Albuquerque, grandsons Jesse and Travis; daughter Suzette Facciolla and husband James of Conyngham, PA, grandchildren Nicole and Jimmy; son John A. Spencer of California; son James D. Spencer and wife Monica of Clarksville, TN. She is also survived by her aunt Virginia Duran and husband Johnny of Tularosa, as well as their children. Maxine will be forever cherished and missed in the hearts and memories of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2004 at Capitan Catholic Church in Capitan, NM. Services will start at 11:00 a.m. with a Rosary followed by a Mass. Graveside services will follow. Maxine wished for her ashes to be buried by her father Alvino Guevara and her mother Nellie (Manuela) Guevara in Capitan. STITCHER -- Stacy Hope Stitcher, 34, of Roanoke, Virginia, lost her battle with leukemia and began a new journey on September 28, 2004. She is survived by her mother and father, Barbara and Gordon Stitcher of Roanoke; her sister, Stephanie P. Stitcher of Cary, NC; her brother, Phillip Stitcher of Richmond, VA; her beloved friend, Jay Burnett of Roanoke; and her furry feline fellow, Spencer. She was a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University. As a talented sculptor and artist, her divine spirit at one point led her to Albuquerque, NM where she lived for over 10 years. While in New Mexico, she was the center of a rich circle of friends whose lives she profoundly influenced. Recently, she returned to the Roanoke Valley in continued pursuit of her artistic dreams. Stacy's amazing essence will live on forever in the hearts of her family and friends, and she will be greatly missed by all. STRATTON -- Charles Donaldson Stratton was born on Saturday, February 22, 1919 in Newburgh, NY, the son of Charles D. Stratton and Edna Deyo. His family moved to Brooklyn, NY in 1926, and relocated to Rahway, NJ in 1936, where he met his future wife, Rebecca Josephine Jones. There were married on December 14, 1940. They shared their love and lives for 61 years until her death on June 15, 2001. During WWII Charles serviced 5 years in the Ordnance Ammunition Dept. of the US Army. He was stationed overseas for 3 1/2 years in England, North Africa, Italy, and the European Theater. Charles participated in four "D" Day Landings, and received a field commission of 2nd Lt. In Lorquin, France on February 24, 1945. After WWII he remained in the USAR and retired as a Major. Charles was employed in the Engineering Department of the American Telephone and Telegraph Company for 46 years. His last assignment at ATT was as Coordinator of the National Account Engineering Managers, and retired from ATT in September, 1982. Charles and Rebecca relocated from New York to LaVida Llena in Albuquerque in December, 1986. He is survived by his daughters, Donna S. Stratton of Albuquerque and Lucinda J. Balgooyen of Chico, CA; and grandchildren, Noah and Kira Balgooyen also of Chico, CA. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 11, 2004, 2:00 p.m. at Carter Hall at LaVida Llena, 10501 La Grima de Oro NE, with the Very Reverend John B. Haverland and Chaplain Norton Scrimshire, officiating. STUECKLER -- Mabel Riemer Stueckler, born in Mequon, Wisconsin and a resident of Albuquerque since 1973, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2004, at the age of 92. She is survived by her five children, three sons, Paul Stueckler of Lillian, Alabama, Herold and Melvin Stueckler both of Albuquerque; two daughters, Lois Sprick of Albuquerque and Ruth Carson of Elberta, Alabama; and seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. TAFOYA -- Mercedes "Martha" Tafoya, 91, went home to be with the Lord on October 7, 2004. She was born on January 14, 1913 in Trinidad, CO. Mercedes was the daughter of a pioneer family from Trinidad, CO. Mrs. Tafoya is preceded in death by her husband, John B. Tafoya; and her son, Eddie Tafoya. She is survived by her son, Richard Tafoya and wife, Sigrid; brother, Alex Silva and wife, Linda of Denver, CO; sisters, Katherine Davis of San Diego, CA, Sylvia Belt of Oceanside, CA, and Dolores Fromang of San Diego, CA; her grandchildren, Carmela Tafoya of Chicago, IL, Lisa Tafoya Yatman and husband, Cem of Turkey, Debra Loftin of Rio Rancho, and Rose Marie Marrujo of Albuquerque; great grandchildren, Miles Loftin of Rio Rancho and Anthony Marrujo of Albuquerque. TRACY -- Marilyn Harding Tracy, 61, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, October 7, 2004. She is survived by her daughters, Coleen Daniel of Albuquerque and Robyn Vaughn and husband, Steve of Orlando, FL; son, Ben Tracy and wife, Kathy of Denver, CO; eight grandchildren, Chad, Adrian, Jonathan and their father, James, Tracy, Brandon, Lynn, Jake and Luke; one great-grandchild on the way; brother, Robert Harding and wife, Carol of Magna, UT; sister, Myrna Raisor and husband, Max of Provo, UT; in-laws, Seth and Thelma Tracy of Magna, UT; and many nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Elwood Tracy in 1993; her son, Jon Michael Tracy; her parents; and brother, Edward Lynn Harding. TURRIETTA -- Rosella Turrietta (Nana), 88, a life long resident of Albuquerque, died, Oct. 8, 2004. She is proceeded in death by her beloved children; Virginia Becera, Cresencio Turrietta Jr. and husband Cresencio Turrietta Sr.; also, numerous brothers and sisters, most recently Carmen Madrid, whom she loved all dearly. She is survived by two grandchildren; Ernest Becerra Jr. and Elizabeth Renee Espinoza; five great-granddaughters, Rosella, Pearl, Ashley, Virginia " booties" and Olivia; son-in-law, Ernest Becerra Sr. and great-grandson-in-law, Jose Espinoza; also, numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. She will be missed enormously by all that loved her. She was known as the historian of the family and for all of her great stories of the Albuquerque area. She had a strength on which everyone could depend. Whether it be family, friends or neighbors, she was ready to help and give comfort. VORHEES -- Dorothy Lawrey Vorhees passed away in Albuquerque, NM on October 5, 2004. She was born on September 12, 1915 in Cleveland, Ohio. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Harold Vorhees. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and John Lippold. Dorothy was a well-known local watercolor artist, a member of the Chi Omega Sorority, a graduate of Ohio University, and was very active in the art community.
