STRATTON -- Charles Donaldson Stratton was born on Saturday, February 22, 1919 in Newburgh, NY, the son of Charles D. Stratton and Edna Deyo. His family moved to Brooklyn, NY in 1926, and relocated to Rahway, NJ in 1936, where he met his future wife, Rebecca Josephine Jones. There were married on December 14, 1940. They shared their love and lives for 61 years until her death on June 15, 2001. During WWII Charles serviced 5 years in the Ordnance Ammunition Dept. of the US Army. He was stationed overseas for 3 1/2 years in England, North Africa, Italy, and the European Theater. Charles participated in four "D" Day Landings, and received a field commission of 2nd Lt. In Lorquin, France on February 24, 1945. After WWII he remained in the USAR and retired as a Major. Charles was employed in the Engineering Department of the American Telephone and Telegraph Company for 46 years. His last assignment at ATT was as Coordinator of the National Account Engineering Managers, and retired from ATT in September, 1982. Charles and Rebecca relocated from New York to LaVida Llena in Albuquerque in December, 1986. He is survived by his daughters, Donna S. Stratton of Albuquerque and Lucinda J. Balgooyen of Chico, CA; and grandchildren, Noah and Kira Balgooyen also of Chico, CA. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 11, 2004, 2:00 p.m. at Carter Hall at LaVida Llena, 10501 La Grima de Oro NE, with the Very Reverend John B. Haverland and Chaplain Norton Scrimshire, officiating. Interment of cremated remains will take place on Tuesday, October 12, 2004, 2:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM with full Military Honors.
