Obituary for MAXWELL

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday October 10, 2004

Minerva (Mickie) Ann Sandoval Maxwell. On October 5, 2004 we lost our beloved mother and best friend, Minerva (Mickie) Ann Sandoval Maxwell. She was born in Albuquerque, NM in 1924 to Henry and Lilian Sandoval. She graduated school at St. Mary's Catholic School. After school, she repaired instrument panels in airplanes for the government's war effort. Mickie met George Lee Maxwell while he was stationed at the University of New Mexico for Officer Candidate Training. They were married at the war's end and celebrated 55 years of marriage before George passed away in September, 2001. They lived Utah, California, New Mexico, and, for the last 45 years, in Winnemucca and Battle Mountain, Nevada. George and Mickie had two daughters, Lilian Kay Underwood (Rodney) and Leslie Maxwell-Burton. She also leaves a granddaughter, Kathleen Trindade (Silvio); two great-grandchildren, Amanda and Rachel Trindade; a sister, Henrietta Meyer; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, George, and her sister, Pauline. Mickie was devoted to her family and they adored her. Her time was spent caring for her family and creating needlework art and crafts that will surround us with love forever. She loved to read and loved having a good mystery or a new history book to read. We will all miss her sage advice, her everyday common sense, and her sense of humor. As per mother's request, no services are planned. Her final resting place will be with dad at the Northern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, NV. Memorials may made to Children's Cabinet, Reno, Attn: Michalle Shown, 1090 S. Rock Blvd., Reno, NV 89502. A guest book has been established at www.waltonsfuneralhomes.com for those who wish to contribute their remembrances. We know that she's in dad's arms dancing to Glenn Miller, again.
