Obituary for TAFOYA

Mercedes "Martha" Tafoya, 91, went home to be with the Lord on October 7, 2004. She was born on January 14, 1913 in Trinidad, CO. Mercedes was the daughter of a pioneer family from Trinidad, CO. Mrs. Tafoya is preceded in death by her husband, John B. Tafoya; and her son, Eddie Tafoya. She is survived by her son, Richard Tafoya and wife, Sigrid; brother, Alex Silva and wife, Linda of Denver, CO; sisters, Katherine Davis of San Diego, CA, Sylvia Belt of Oceanside, CA, and Dolores Fromang of San Diego, CA; her grandchildren, Carmela Tafoya of Chicago, IL, Lisa Tafoya Yatman and husband, Cem of Turkey, Debra Loftin of Rio Rancho, and Rose Marie Marrujo of Albuquerque; great grandchildren, Miles Loftin of Rio Rancho and Anthony Marrujo of Albuquerque. She will be deeply missed by her loving family. The family would like to thank Rio Rancho Nursing Home for the care they gave Mercedes. Visitations will be held on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served after the rosary in the Celebration of Life Room also at Garcia Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carmela Tafoya, Terry Cogburn, Chuck Cogburn, Leon Trevino, David Lucero, and Joey Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Cogburn, Richard Trevino, and John Maurer.
