Archibeque -- Tony Jose"Archie" Archibeque, 71, a resident of Albuquerque for 50 years, passed away on January 18, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Mille Archibeque of Albuquerque; children, Larry, Antoinette and Georgiann Archibeque all of Albuquerque; stepchildren, Enola Hollars and husband, Terry, Hazel Lieg, Raymond, John and Chris Harding all of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren including, Sara and Kristin Harding of the family home; one great-grandson; brothers, Jack Valencia and wife, Magalena of Las Cruces and Paul Archibeque and wife, Rosie of Bloomfield; sister-in-law, Evelyn Archibeque. Tony is preceded in death by a brother, Adoph Archibeque. He is also survived by his very helpful and caring friends, David Lujan, Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Chavez and Jerry and Maryann Candelaria. Tony retired after 30 years of being employed by the Postal Service. He was a member of Santuario de San Martin Catholic Church and was also a lifetime member of the DAV Chapter #3. Tony enjoyed hunting, fishing and gambling. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary ¯ Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW (3 blocks N. of Paseo del Norte) with Deacon Patrick Santistevan, reciting. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Santuario de San Martin Catholic Church, 8321 Camino San Martin SW, with Father James Vance, Celebrant. Bateman -- Helen May McWilliams Bateman, age 102, a resident of Albuquerque, died January 19, 2003. Helen was born October 23, 1900 in Allegheny, Pennsylvania. Survivors included her son, Samuel and his wife, Judith of Albuquerque; sister, Pauline of Columbus, OH; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and special grandson, Chuck Major of Moriarty. Helen was preceded in death by her son, Richard Bateman; husband, Carl F. Bateman and second husband, Richard Shockley. Helen grew up in Pennsylvania and Florida and moved to New Mexico in 1943 when Carl worked at Los Alamos. After retirement they moved to Albuquerque in 1967. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Mae Ocana at Townerhouse for the care given. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2002 at Covenant Presbyterian Church 9315 Candelaria NE. Brooks -- Randall (Randy) S. Brooks, 52, passed away peacefully at his home in Anthony, NM January 18, 2003. He is the son of Stanley D. Brooks and Margaret H. Brooks. Randy was born and raised in Albuquerque attended St. Pius X High School and Eastern New Mexico University. Randy is survived by his wife, Annette; and his son, Harrison. He is also survived by his mother, Margaret; brothers, Phillip and Brian; sister, Marita; and many nieces and nephews. Randy will be remembered for his sense of humor. Services will be held in Anthony, TX. With a private burial.

Candelaria -- Mr. Vivian Candelaria, a life long resident fo Moriarty NM, passed away Sunday January 19, 2003 at his home in Moriarty. Mr. Candelaria was born December 2, 1910 in Chilili, NM to Lorenzso and Petrolina (Mora) Candelaria. Mr. Candelaria was preceded in death by his wife, Isidora G. Candelaria, in 1992, two sons, Joe and Lawrence Candelaria, and daughter-in-law, Sofie Candelaria. Mr. Candelaria is survived by two daughters, Barbara and husband, Mike Tapia of Moriarty, NM, Trinnie and husband, Humberto Martinez of Gilbert, AZ: three sons, Pete and wife, Terry Candelaria of Moriarty, NM, Jr. and wife, Helen Candelaria of Moriarty, NM, and Julian Candelaria of Albuquerque, NM: 19 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson; and one 1/2 brother, Joe Lucero of Albuquerque, NM. A rosary will be recited Tuesday, January 21, 2003, 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty. The mass will be celebrated Wednesday January 22, 2003, 1:00 p.m. also at the Church.

Carson -- Colonel Charles R. Carson, USAF (Ret), died Saturday, January, 18, 2003 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was 83 years old. Colonel Carson was a native of South Carolina and a 1940 graduate of Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. His military career spanned 30 years. He served his country during World War II in North Africa. He had multiple assignments in the continental United States, one of which was at the Pentagon. He and his family spent 3 years in Lakenheath England during the 1950's. He culminated his Air Force career as a Directorate Chief at Defense Atomic Support Agency. He retired in 1971, making Albuquerque home. He was a Senior Navigator and held the following decorations: The Legion of Merit, The Air Force Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters; numerous other campaign and service medals and ribbons. He was an avid tennis player whose friends and family will miss his wonderful sense of humor. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Carolyn; son, Charles R. Carson, Jr.; daughters, Cathy Carson Tschasar and Chris Carson Hyde; granddaughters, Cyndi Carson, Ashlee Hyde, Jessica Hyde and Kassandra Carson; grand-son, Austin Hyde. Colonel Carson was preceded in death by grandchildren Crista and Cristopher Carson, who are playing Yahtzee with Grandpa now. A Memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Centers -- Leita R. Centers went to be with the Lord, Saturday, January 18, 2003 at the age of 88. She was born in Carson City, MI in 1914 and a New Mexico resident of over 84 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Centers in 1969. She is survived by one brother, Jack R. Smith; sister, Edith Lanning; daughters, Helen Lester, Barbara Jennings and her husband, Ray S; son, Carl O. Centers and his wife, Linda; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. A private family service will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2003. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be sent to your favorite charity. Cremation arrangements by the Sunrise Society.

Erdman -- William R. Erdman, 77, of Belen passed away peacefully on January 19, 2003 in Albuquerque where he had been a resident of the Montebello on Academy for the past few months. Mr. Erdman was born on August 31, 1925 in Cimarron, Kansas to Raleigh Erdman and Gussie May Thompson Erdman. He is survived by his two children, Carol Radosevich and Richard Erdman and his wife, Kathy, all of Albuquerque. Other survivors include his sister, Carolyn Spearing and her husband, Joe of Harlan, Iowa; brother, Raleigh Erdman of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and grandchildren, Heather Dumas and husband, Christopher of Kansas City, Missouri, Keith Erdman and wife, Coleen of Denver, Colorado and Kevin Erdman of Houston, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Erdman was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Patricia Baxter Erdman of Marblehead, Massachusetts. Mr. and Mrs. Erdman were married in Albuquerque on March 5, 1948. Mr. Erdman was a Veteran of the United States Navy and served on the U.S.S. Princeton. He graduated from Cimarron Consolidated High School in 1943 and graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1949 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Upon graduation Mr. Erdman joined the U.S. Corps of Army Engineers in Albuquerque and worked there until his retirement in 1974. During his professional career, he earned the certification of Professional Engineer. In 1986, he moved to Tierra del Sol in Belen with his wife and lovingly cared for her throughout her extended illness. Bill lived his life with dignity and was deeply loved and respected by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Avenue SE., on Friday, January 24, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. Should friends desire, the family suggests donations to a Hospice or other charitable organization of their choice. Fox -- Karl Heinrich Fuchs Fox, 24, a lifetime resident of Albuquerque, died unexpectedly Sunday, January 19, 2003. He is survived by his parents, Dieter and Jacqueline Fuchs Fox of Albuquerque; sister, Monika Anne Fuchs Grabke and husband, Jason; brothers, Dieter Sean Fuchs Fox and wife, Talese, Ryan Kurt Fuchs Fox and girlfriend, Desiree; grandparents, Hans Karl Buers and wife, Maria Anna; aunts, Mary Caroline MacNinch, and Inge Fuchs and Heidi Marie Kaltwasser of Germany; nieces, Madelyn Tayte Fuchs Fox, Alison Marie Fuchs Grabke, and Jordan Elizabeth Fuchs Grabke; cousin, Scott Henry MacNinch and wife, Julie; 2nd cousins, Brianna Renee MacNinch and Mia Christine MacNinch; and numerous relatives and friends in Albuquerque, Germany, and The Netherlands. He loved playing soccer, golfing, skiing, and traveling. Karl was a member of the BMW Car Club and he enjoyed custom tuning BMW's. He loved to ride his motorcycle and play with his dog, Belle. Karl participated in a lot of activities involving his German heritage. He enjoyed life to it's fullest and will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. Garris -- Rhenea J. Garris, 66, left this earth to go to her heavenly home on Tuesday evening, December 3, 2002, following a severe illness. She was preceded in death by her father, Futha Edward Kirkland. She is survived by her husband, David Garris; mother, Mildred Kirkland; children, Brett Garris and wife, Debbie, Roxanne Salsman and husband, Glenn, Vance Garris, Kirk Allen Garris; grandchildren, Aaron Bell, Megan Kulju; and three great-grandchildren. Rhenea was born in Winslow, Arizona on September 23, 1936 and moved to New Mexico in 1954 following her marriage to David. Rhenea was instrumental in implementation of the YMCA pre-school programs in the Albuquerque area and taught Sunday School and pre-school at Hoffmantown Baptist Church and Eastern Hills Baptist Church for a total of 36 years. Rhenea was so dedicated and gifted an educator, instilling lessons of principle and honor within her students, while encouraging their individual creativity, following her retirement, the Honorable Mayor Martin Chavez declared May 13, 1995 as Rhenea J. Garris day in Albuquerque. Rhenea also co-authored a children's book entitled"Fall Roundup", with her friend and co-worker of many years, Jolene Davidson. During her teaching years, she touched the hearts and lives of hundreds of adults and children and will be missed by all those who knew her. At Rhenea's request, cremation has previously taken place and a Memorial Service has been scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2003, at New Covenant Church, 7201 Paseo Del Norte NE, Rick Donaho officiating. Glass -- Edward Beaumont Townsend Glass quietly left this world in his search for peace on January 17, 2003. Such a private, quiet, sensitive man, to him a collection of books, animals, music, crossword puzzles only interrupted by a bowl of lasagna meant the"world was his". His passion for postal history won him a national acclaim and he was often requested to judge national shows. His large circle of friends, scattered around the world, felt a loyalty, sensitivity and respect for Edward, truly one of a kind. Edward was born an Army brat of Col. and Mrs. E.L.N. Glass October 17, 1919 in Corsicana, TX. He was joined 12 years later by his brother, Dr. John B. Glass of Boston, MA. Ed graduated from the University of Texas in Architecture. In 1964, he was invited to the University of New Mexico as an assistant architect to architect, Van Dorn Hooker. He stayed with UNM for 20 years and felt fortunate to supervise the reconstruction of historic Hodgen Hall. A building now cherished by the alumni of UNM. Ed and his wife, Evangeline celebrated 58 years of marriage July 1, 2002. His wife, Evangeline; his brother, John; and a niece, Julie Glass survive him. Gray -- Ruth Gray, age 86, a lifelong New Mexico resident died January 19, 2003. Survivors include her daughter, Kristina Herz of Orange, CA; son, Thomas H. Gray and wife, Carole of Broomfield, CO; grandchildren, Lorin Saint, Lisa E. Rodriguez, Amanda Gray and Chelsea Herz; great-grandchildren, Audra Saint, Nolan Wallace and Austin Wallace. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Gray; and daughter, Patricia Erramouspe. Helen loved to read, collect poetry and was best known for her wit and sense of humor. Gurule -- Joseph ¯Joe¯ A. Gurule, a resident of Albuquerque since 1954, passed away January 20, 2003. A Second World War Veteran, he is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lou Gurule; one son, Charles and wife, Georgia of Pueblo, CO.; one daughter, Diane Miller and husband of California; two sisters, Lillian Sandoval and Janette Maestas of Colorado; five granddaughters and two grandsons. Heaston -- Joseph Reed Heaston died January 19, 2003, in Milwaukie, OR. He was 93 years old. He was born on July 23, 1909, in Canton, OH, the seventh of ten children born to Irvin and Effie (Ripley) Heaston. He graduated from Huntington (Indiana) High School and later attended the U. of Alabama and North Manchester (Indiana) College. During WWII he served in the U.S. Army, receiving an honorable discharge in March, 1943, for medical reasons. In that same year he went to work for the U. of New Mexico in weapons development and, later, for Sandia Laboratories as a weapons technician and supervisor. For many years he worked in atomic and nuclear weaponry testing in New Mexico, Nevada, Hawaii, and the South Pacific. He retired from Sandia Corporation in 1969. Joe met Alice Clayton in 1935 at Jemez Pueblo where he was working for the soil conservation service and she was the Public Health Service nurse for the pueblo. They were married on April 18, 1936, in Santa Fe, NM. She predeceased him in 1977. Survivors include son, Joseph R. Jr. of Fountain Hills, AZ and Cameron, MT; daughter, Alexandra (Sandy) Bohlman of Seeley Lake, MT; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Disposition was by cremation. At the request of Mr. Heaston, no services were held. All arrangements were made by Wilhelm Funeral Home, Portland, OR.

Holloman -- Bill D. Holloman, peacefully passed away at his home while surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, January 19, 2003, at the age of 73. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Norma, whom he married on March 17, 1954, in Fort Sumner, NM; his daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Tim Canales; favorite grand-dog, Max, all of Albuquerque; his son, Clint of Clovis, NM; and two grandchildren, Chris of Greenwood, IN; and Amanda of Clovis, NM; one brother and his family, Sammy Joe Holloman of Portales, NM; and also Norma's loving family whom were very close to Bill, Lloyd and Ethel Hitt of Lubbock, TX, Linda, Ronnie, and Whitney Gregory of Dallas, TX, Doyle and Judy Shearer and Juanita Rowland of Portales; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was born in Mangum, OK, on September 21, 1929, to Robert"Shorty" and Willie Fay Holloman. They moved to New Mexico in 1944. He entered the U.S. Army on January 26, 1951, and served in Company E-110th Infantry Regiment in Germany. Upon returning to the United States, he began a very dedicated career at the A.T.& S.F. Railroad in 1953. He retired, as Roadmaster in 1986 after 33 years of outstanding service. He was a member of the NRA and Belen Shooting Sports Association, where he enjoyed trap shooting with his good friends. Bill and Norma spent their summers RV'ing in Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado where they met many good friends from across the country. The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to Dr. Amy Tarnower and nurse, Rose of Lovelace Oncology. Also to Lovelace Hospice Nurses and Aids, for their professionalism and compassion. Our thanks to you are countless. May God bless you all. We will miss him immensley, but know he is at peace with our Lord Jesus Christ. Hubbard -- Cleta Mae Hubbard, 81, a resident of New Mexico for the past 38 years, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2003. She moved to Corrales in 1970. Cleta was born June 8, 1921 the daughter of Frank Keller and Blanche Moyer Sine in Telford, Pennsylvania. She had worked for the G.T.E. (Lenkurt) company until her retirement. Cleta was preceded in death by one son, Frank Sine. She is survived by three children, two daughters, Laurel Hubbard Tallada and husband, Scott of Corrales, NM, Patricia Ann Nervick of Bremerton, WA; one son, Stanley Sine of Sellersville, PA; one sister, Arlene Lokay of Sellersville, PA. Kelly -- Dan Kelly, Jr., age 87, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2003 in Boise, Idaho. Dan was born in El Paso, Texas, on February 9, 1916. He grew up in Texas and New Mexico, graduating from Tucumcari High School and New Mexico State University. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart during World War II, for injuries incurred while leading an infantry platoon in France. After recovering, he made a career in the U.S. Department of Agriculture, retiring in Las Cruces, NM. He married Louise Stephens in 1938, and they were the parents of two children, Dan III and Nancy. They moved to Boise in the early 70's to be closer to their children. Dan is survived by his wife of 66 years, Louise, of Boise; son, Dan Kelly and wife, Bobbi of Mountain Home; daughter, Nancy and partner, Maggie Morris of McCall; grandchildren, Melissa Kelly and husband, Deren Kellogg of Santa Cruz, CA, Sandra Kelly of Helena, MT, Deke Thoen and wife, Sandy of Pocatello, and Janis Fontaine and husband, Shawn of Boise; great-grandchildren, Douglas and Madeleine; sisters, Kathleen Kelly Titland of Kalispell, MT and Meddie Kelly Dale of Vancouver, WN; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan Sr. and Nova Kelly; and a brother, Eugene Debs Kelly. Lujan -- Alfonso D. Lujan peacefully passed away on January 21, 2003, after a bout with cancer. He was born on July 1, 1933. Alfonso is preceded in death by son, Jerry Lujan; sisters, Carmen Lujan and Lucille Baca; and brother, Leon Lujan. He is survived by fiancee, Bertha Quinones; daughter, Karol Salazar and husband, Tim; son, Daniel Lujan; and daugher-in-law, Sue Lujan. He is also survived by sisters, Andrea Lujan, Berlinda Lujan, Christina Lujan-Bonds and husband, Chuck; and brother, Raymond Lujan and wife, Flora. He is survived by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Alfonso retired as District Chief from the Albuquerque Fire Department after 25 years. He was active in several church choirs as guitar player and also played with a Mariachi band. Rosary will be recited on Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. at Risen Savior Church, 7701 Wyoming NE. Memorial Services will take place on Friday at Risen Savior Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will take place at the Veterans Cemetery in Santa Fe following the services. Nicholls -- Russell"Russ" Hall Nicholls, a resident of Placitas, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2003. He was born on February 4, 1948 in Brockton, MA. Russ was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He was a member of the Eta Kappa Nu Association of Electrical Engineers and a member of the Mission Church of the Incarnation, St. Thomas Aquinas Parish. Russ was the owner of All Brands Microwave Repair in Rio Rancho. He enjoyed fishing and traveling. He loved to play games including cards, backgammon, and computer games. Russ was a people person and was known for his practical jokes and pranks, always making others laugh. He was a stranger to no one and had a smile for everyone he met. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Russ was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ellen Hall Nicholls; and his brother, Henry Jr. (Buzz) Nicholls. She is survived by her loving husband, Gary Page of the family home in Albuquerque; one son, Jose Moreno and his wife, Monica of Tucson, AZ; granddaughters, Maranda and Sofia Moreno, also of Tucson, AZ; her mother, Julia Dominguez of Las Vegas, NM; sisters, Marcie Rogers and Charlene Martinez and her husband, George all of Las Vegas, NM, Estrellita"Pato" Dominguez and Tana Dominguez both of Albuquerque and Amor Safi and her husband, Peserlai of Fairfax Station, VA; one brother, Adolfo Dominguez of Las Vegas, NM; a sister-in-law, Jill Page and family of Bakersfield, CA; and many nieces and nephews. Roberts -- Irwin Herbert Roberts D.V.M., 90, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, January 20, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Roberts; daughters, Nina Roberts and Alexandra Roberts. Dr. Roberts was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 10, 1912, and was a 1933 graduate of Alfred University. He received his doctorate in veterinary medicine from Cornell University in 1937. Shortly thereafter he joined the United States Department of Agriculture and traveled extensively as a research parasitologist. Dr. Roberts received special federal awards for his applied research, especially for his significant contributions to the eradication of scabies in sheep and cattle. In 1962 he became the director of the USDA Agricultural Research Service Animal Parasite Research Laboratory, south of Albuquerque; a position he held until his retirement in 1976. Private interment will take place at the Congregation Albert section of Fairview Memorial Park. His family asks that his friends remember him in their hearts and prayers. Runyan -- In memory of our loving father Charles Edward Runyan, 91, died Monday, January 20, 2003. He is survived by his son, Dennis Runyan and partner, Betty; daughter, Janice Mollo and husband, Charles; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother, Jimmy Runyan and wife, Kathy of Los Alamos. Mr. Runyan was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Fulton Runyan; and second wife, Mary DeRose Runyan. He was a trumpet player for big bands while in college; he graduated from Purdue University in 1933. Mr. Runyan moved to New Mexico in 1943 to work at Los Alamos National Labs as a Professional Engineer and relocated to Albuquerque in 1947. He retired from Sandia National Labs in 1973. He was a lifetime member of ASME and very active in many organizations throughout his life including the Elks, Albuquerque Symphony, Purdue Alumni Association, Toastmasters, local figure skating associations, Sons of the American Revolution and the Huguenots. Sandoval -- God rest the soul of Alfred,"Werro" Sandoval, age 70, who went with the Lord January 18, 2003. Williams -- Harry W. Williams, age 80, of Santa Fe, died suddenly on January 16, 2003 in Albuquerque, NM. Harry was born in Raton, NM, on November 18, 1922, to Albert Lloyd Williams and Margaret Altman. In 1943, Harry joined the U.S. Army and served in the Military Police. After his tour, Harry attended the DeVry Institute in Phoenix, AZ, where he earned a degree in electrical engineering. He went on to work for Contel as a design engineer and was with them for 15 years. During this time, he met his future wife, Therese, and were married on May 2, 1981, in Santa Fe. Harry also worked for First Interstate Bank. Harry was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Danny; and his first-wife, Frances. He is survived by his loving wife, Therese; grandchildren, Chris LaForge of Seatlle, WA, Tim LaForge of Santa Fe, Martine LaForge of Santa Fe; great-grandchildren, J.J.
