Obituary for Bateman

Helen May McWilliams Bateman, age 102, a resident of Albuquerque, died January 19, 2003. Helen was born October 23, 1900 in Allegheny, Pennsylvania. Survivors included her son, Samuel and his wife, Judith of Albuquerque; sister, Pauline of Columbus, OH; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and special grandson, Chuck Major of Moriarty. Helen was preceded in death by her son, Richard Bateman; husband, Carl F. Bateman and second husband, Richard Shockley. Helen grew up in Pennsylvania and Florida and moved to New Mexico in 1943 when Carl worked at Los Alamos. After retirement they moved to Albuquerque in 1967. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Mae Ocana at Townerhouse for the care given. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2002 at Covenant Presbyterian Church 9315 Candelaria NE. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the New Mexico Boys Ranch of Menaul School. Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors 3113 Carlisle Blvd. NE is handling arrangements.
