Obituary for Kelly

Dan Kelly, Jr., age 87, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2003 in Boise, Idaho. Dan was born in El Paso, Texas, on February 9, 1916. He grew up in Texas and New Mexico, graduating from Tucumcari High School and New Mexico State University. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart during World War II, for injuries incurred while leading an infantry platoon in France. After recovering, he made a career in the U.S. Department of Agriculture, retiring in Las Cruces, NM. He married Louise Stephens in 1938, and they were the parents of two children, Dan III and Nancy. They moved to Boise in the early 70's to be closer to their children. Dan is survived by his wife of 66 years, Louise, of Boise; son, Dan Kelly and wife, Bobbi of Mountain Home; daughter, Nancy and partner, Maggie Morris of McCall; grandchildren, Melissa Kelly and husband, Deren Kellogg of Santa Cruz, CA, Sandra Kelly of Helena, MT, Deke Thoen and wife, Sandy of Pocatello, and Janis Fontaine and husband, Shawn of Boise; great-grandchildren, Douglas and Madeleine; sisters, Kathleen Kelly Titland of Kalispell, MT and Meddie Kelly Dale of Vancouver, WN; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan Sr. and Nova Kelly; and a brother, Eugene Debs Kelly. Funeral Services will be held today, Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Summers Funeral Homes, 1205 W. Bannock Street, Boise, Idaho.
