Runyan -- In memory of our loving father Charles Edward Runyan, 91, died Monday, January 20, 2003. He is survived by his son, Dennis Runyan and partner, Betty; daughter, Janice Mollo and husband, Charles; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother, Jimmy Runyan and wife, Kathy of Los Alamos. Mr. Runyan was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Fulton Runyan; and second wife, Mary DeRose Runyan. He was a trumpet player for big bands while in college; he graduated from Purdue University in 1933. Mr. Runyan moved to New Mexico in 1943 to work at Los Alamos National Labs as a Professional Engineer and relocated to Albuquerque in 1947. He retired from Sandia National Labs in 1973. He was a lifetime member of ASME and very active in many organizations throughout his life including the Elks, Albuquerque Symphony, Purdue Alumni Association, Toastmasters, local figure skating associations, Sons of the American Revolution and the Huguenots. Mr. Runyan spent his retirement traveling, researching the family tree, playing the piano and singing. Graveside services will be held Thursday, 11:00 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE.
