Obituary for Holloman

Bill D. Holloman, peacefully passed away at his home while surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, January 19, 2003, at the age of 73. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Norma, whom he married on March 17, 1954, in Fort Sumner, NM; his daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Tim Canales; favorite grand-dog, Max, all of Albuquerque; his son, Clint of Clovis, NM; and two grandchildren, Chris of Greenwood, IN; and Amanda of Clovis, NM; one brother and his family, Sammy Joe Holloman of Portales, NM; and also Norma's loving family whom were very close to Bill, Lloyd and Ethel Hitt of Lubbock, TX, Linda, Ronnie, and Whitney Gregory of Dallas, TX, Doyle and Judy Shearer and Juanita Rowland of Portales; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was born in Mangum, OK, on September 21, 1929, to Robert"Shorty" and Willie Fay Holloman. They moved to New Mexico in 1944. He entered the U.S. Army on January 26, 1951, and served in Company E-110th Infantry Regiment in Germany. Upon returning to the United States, he began a very dedicated career at the A.T.& S.F. Railroad in 1953. He retired, as Roadmaster in 1986 after 33 years of outstanding service. He was a member of the NRA and Belen Shooting Sports Association, where he enjoyed trap shooting with his good friends. Bill and Norma spent their summers RV'ing in Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado where they met many good friends from across the country. The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to Dr. Amy Tarnower and nurse, Rose of Lovelace Oncology. Also to Lovelace Hospice Nurses and Aids, for their professionalism and compassion. Our thanks to you are countless. May God bless you all. We will miss him immensley, but know he is at peace with our Lord Jesus Christ. A Funeral Service will be held at Romero Funeral Home in Belen, NM, on Thursday, January 23, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. A Graveside Service will be conducted at Portales Cemetery on Friday, January 24, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Jim Bostick, George Martin, Bobbie Graham, Joe Ward, Brad Bealmear, and Jim Sexe.
