ANDERSON -- Adele Anne Anderson passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at the age of 94. Adele was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 7, 1915. Adele spent her childhood years on the east coast and attended Cornell University where she was a proud member of the Kappa Delta Epsilon Sorority. After graduating with a BA in English, she worked for New York University School of Commerce as a secretary. She married her college sweetheart, Paul Anderson in 1942, and they soon began a life of travel and adventure when they became a family of the U.S. Army. Adele especially loved being stationed in France. Their last tour of duty brought Adele, Paul, and their children to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1963. Adele was an active member of St. Matthew's and St. Michael's Episcopal churches. She also worked as a substitute teacher for the Albuquerque Public Schools until 1971. Adele adored dogs and loved to take them on walks where she always seemed to meet a new friend. She also became involved in Pet Therapy programs at the V.A. Hospital with several of her K-9 friends. Adele and her beloved greyhound, Stormy, touched many hearts. Later in her life, she enjoyed playing the piano, golfing and symphony concerts. In 2003 Adele moved to Sandia Springs Assisted Living Center in Rio Rancho where she stayed until her death. Adele's family wishes to thank all of her friends and caregivers at Sandia Springs and Vista Care Hospice. Adele was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Frederick Anderson; parents, Henry and Belle Rethorn; and brother, Harold Rethorn. She is survived by her son, James R. Anderson and his wife Michele of Corrales; and grandson James R. Anderson II; and great grandson Noah Rion Anderson of Raleigh North Carolina; her daughter, Judith Belle Anderson of Walnut Creek, California; and granddaughter Suzanne Schloss and her husband Paul and their children, Jordan and Payton of Henderson, Nevada; her daughters Jane Adele Anderson and Tamara Tomasson both of Albuquerque, N.M., her daughter Julie Anne Hale and her husband Dave, and grandson Forrest, of Madera, California. A service celebrating Adeles life will be held at St. Michaels and All Angels Episcopal Church at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, August 19, 2009. In Adele's memory please go for a walk with a friend (human or K-9) and enjoy the beauty around you especially the beautiful Sandia Mountains. CASAUS -- Robert "Bobby" Max Casaus, 62, a native of Albuquerque, NM, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 12, 2009. He is survived by his daughter Roberta Max Casaus; daughter Cassandra Dee Casaus Currie and husband, Brandon; and son Shawn Franklin Casaus; grandchildren, Samantha Dawn Casaus, Sterling Grayson Currie, Sophia Magdalena Currie, and Ava Shawna Casaus; parents, Max and Carmen Casaus; sister, Margie Clark; and numerous other relatives and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Juan Casaus. Robert was born on September 1, 1946 in Albuquerque and graduated from Valley High School. He attended Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM and was married to Evangeline B. Casaus, the mother of his children, for many years. Robert was the Chief Financial Officer for the Southwest Region of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service until he retired after 33 years of service. He was an avid traveler and adventurer who loved the outdoors. Robert was passionate about his family, education, chess, reading, hang gliding, and the art of bull fighting. He was a brilliant, witty, and compassionate man who people sought out for advice and direction. Robert was a loving father, grandfather, son and brother and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. CHAMBERLAIN -- Richard E. "Rich" Chamberlain, age 82, of Albuquerque, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2009. He attended Rochester High School in Minnesota. Rich received a BS degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Idaho after serving in the Army after WWII in the Philippines. He enjoyed travel and loved making guns. DAVIS -- David Harrison Davis, age 79, went to be with his Lord on August 12, 2009 in Rio Rancho, NM. He was born in Nashville, TN to Raymond and Thelma Davis. He moved to Albuquerque with his parents in 1944 when he was only 14 and helped his father in the family jewelry shop. David proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict for the United States Air Force. He worked for Sandia National labs in research and development. David is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mildred Davis, their children, two sons, Ralph Davis and wife, Bonnie of Algodones, NM, Ray Davis and wife, Denise of Niles, MI and one daughter, Louise Budagher and husband, Si of Rio Rancho. He is also survived by five grandchildren and one great granddaughter. David was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter born in 1966, Louseneth Christine Davis. DELAPP -- Mary Lorraine Kangus DeLapp. Wife, Mother, Social Worker, Teacher, age 83, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2009 in Albuquerque, NM. Mary was a 50+ year resident of Santa Fe, a sociologist and social psychologist, and a well-known Santa Fe civic worker. She was the wife of the late Kenneth D. DeLapp Jr., president and owner of DeLapp Engineering, a consulting firm of civil and structural engineers. Mary was active in the Santa Fe community, serving and leading in a variety of social and political organizations. She was a founding officer of the Santa Fe Junior Women's Club (1955) and of the Las Sembradores Garden Club of Santa Fe (1958). She was serving with the Junior Women's Club when the Santa Fe Girls Club and Headstart programs were initiated. She was runner-up for the title of Mrs. New Mexico. She served on the New Mexico Committee for Public School Needs, and co-chaired the Foster Care Committee of the Santa Fe Community Council. She was active in the American Association of University Women, League of Women Voters, Professional Engineers' Wives, United Methodist Church Board, Santa Fe Women's Club and Library Association, St. Vincent Hospital Auxiliary, Santa Fe Dance Club, and the Santa Fe Opera Guild. With the Santa Fe Women's Club, she participated in the development and founding of the Santa Fe Public Library. She was a flutist with the Rio Grande Symphony and the Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra. She was chairman of the Santa Fe School Ski Program committee, and den mother, Cub Scout Pack 34. At various times, she served as the precinct chairman, county Republican vice-chairman, and on the county and state central committees. She also served as President of the Santa Fe County Republican Women's Club. Mary was a member of the Board of Directors for DeLapp Engineering from 1968 to 2002. Mary was born April 30, 1926, in Mitchell, South Dakota. She grew up there and attended junior high school and prep school with her future husband, Kenneth D. DeLapp, Jr. She played the flute and piccolo in band and orchestra, was the editor of the newspaper, assisted in the high school library, was a National Merit scholar and valedictorian of her class, and worked her way up to librarian in the city library. Upon graduation from high school in 1944, Mary attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois. She was the society editor, feature editor, columnist, copy editor and editor of the paper (All American rating), winning prizes in state contests for her features and a fashion advertisement. She was a member of the MacMurray Players theatre group, a flutist in the band, and a member of Alpha Kappa Sigma. During the summers of 1946 and 1947, she worked as a waitress in the Merchant Marines on the SS South American (Chicago, Duluth, & Georgian Bay Line, Detroit, Michigan), cruising the Great Lakes from Toronto, Thousand Islands, and Goderich, to American ports from Buffalo to Duluth. She earned her BA in Sociology in May 1948, married Ken in August 1948, and moved to Detroit where Ken was employed as an engineer. Mary received her Masters degree in Sociology from the University of Michigan in 1950, and was a research fellow with the Social Sciences Research Project for Human Adjustment in Flint, Michigan. She worked as a social worker for the Michigan Children's Institute in Ann Arbor. She completed additional graduate work at the Wayne University School of Social Work in Detroit (1951-52), and Ph.D. course work in psychology at the University of New Mexico (1968 -1974). Mary and Ken moved to Santa Fe in December, 1952, for the express purpose of establishing their civil and structural engineering business. To better support the family business, Mary studied architectural drafting at St. Michael's College, and then designed and supervised a three-room addition to her home. In addition to supporting the building of the business, Mary was an active member of the Santa Fe community as previously noted. She raised four children, and was employed as a social worker and teacher. She was a social work consultant for the Title I Santa Fe Parochial Schools Guidance Service, and a child welfare and adoption worker with the United Protestant Adoption Agency in Santa Fe. She taught Social Psychology at the College of Santa Fe, adult family life classes in her capacity as social worker, as well as Sunday school and other classes at her church. Mary's hobbies and interests included playing the flute, gardening, sewing, cooking, art (painting and tile mosaics), architecture, fishing, camping, and backpacking. She also enjoyed writing and was published by the Denver Post. Mary is survived by her son Kenneth D. DeLapp III and his wife Vicki of Albuquerque; son Winton (Win) J. DeLapp and his wife Patty of Albuquerque; daughter Margot L. DeLapp de Anaya and her husband Frank Anaya of Falls Church, VA; son J. Marsden DeLapp and his wife Susan Hapka of Placitas, NM; daughter-in-law Mary J. (Molly) DeLapp of Albuquerque; four grandchildren -- Nicole J. DeLapp and her husband Kevin Goddard, Kenneth D. DeLapp IV, Susan I. DeLapp, and Marzanne L. DeLapp de Anaya; sister Delores Gilbert and her husband Paul (Gil) of Fort Collins, CO; sister Toivola Kangus of Chandler, AZ; brother Weino "Tug" Kangus and his wife Jo Ann of Page, AZ; sister-in-law LeMay Britain and her husband Maynard (Brit) of Oelrichs, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 20, 2009 at St. John's United Methodist Church, 1200 Old Pecos Trail, Santa Fe, NM. There will be a private interment to follow at a later date at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

DICKMAN -- Eric John Dickman Jr, 71, a life long resident of Albuquerque passed away unexpectedly August 12, 2009. He is survived by his children Debbie(Gene) Kirkpatrick of Cleveland MO. HOTCHKISS -- Yvonne Yolanda Hotchkiss, 92, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, has left her earthly home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 12, 2009. Yvonne was born May 15, 1917 the daughter of Clarence and Ruby Tefft Dahms in Perry Depot, now known as Wayne, Ohio. She was the oldest of seven children. Yvonne resided in the Albuquerque and Rio Rancho area for approximately 46 years. She worked for the State of New Mexico and in Real Estate. She also owned and worked on several dairy farms in Ohio with her first husband until his death. In life she enjoyed dancing, cooking, flowers, sewing, and her greatest enjoyment was traveling to China, Germany, England, Hawaii, Bahamas and many other places of interest. Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Russell Dahms of Tiffin, OH, Dick Dahms of Fremont, OH, Ansel Dahms of Rising Sun, OH; granddaughter, Paula Pickett of McComb, OH; her first husband George William Brown of Greenwich, OH, second husband Wendell Hotchkiss of Rio Rancho; and a companion, Vincent Martinez of Rio Rancho. Yvonne is survived by six children of her own plus a step daughter. Sandra Bethel of McComb, OH, Bill Brown of Rio Rancho, NM, Jerry Brown of Albuquerque, NM, Gene Brown and wife Anita of Rio Rancho, NM, Vicki Barnthouse and husband Hager of Rotonda West, Florida, Jan Brown and wife Kay of Regina, NM, and step-daughter, Joyce Ferril and husband Jym of Albuquerque, NM; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; sisters, Rosemary Coppler of South Carolina, Kay Drake and Virginia Gelski of Fostoria, OH. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones and many friends. KUBLER -- Charles A. Kubler, Sr. (Lt. Col. ret) 87, passed away at his home on Friday, August 14, 2009, after a difficult struggle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Betty Whitson Kubler; son, Charles A. Jr (Chuck) and daughter, Barbara L. Shearer, both of Albuquerque, and son, John W. of Brandon, FL; and brother, Paul Kubler of Albuquerque; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Esther M. Kubler and Leslie Kubler; and his son, R. Michael Kubler. Born in Connersville, IN on March 19, 1922, Charles was of the Greatest Generation and served honorably in the U.S. Air Force for over 27 years. His service to the country spanned the conflicts of World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam. Upon assignment to Kirtland Air Force Base in the 1950s, Charles and Betty settled in the Albuquerque area and raised their family. After retirement from the Air Force, Charles worked in the real estate and savings and loan businesses in Albuquerque where he enjoyed many great friends and colleagues. He and wife Betty moved to Hemphill, TX in 1982, but returned to Albuquerque to stay in 1991. Charles had a lifelong, passionate love of the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and motor home adventurer, accumulating many treasured experiences while traveling the U.S. with wife Betty and dog Sammy over the years. A former Air Force pilot, Charles took to piloting his motor home to visit grandchildren and other family on long road trips throughout the Midwest, East and Southeast. His can-do, independent spirit was a marvel to everyone who knew him. There was no technical challenge that eluded him and he was very generous in putting his mechanical skills to use in helping family, friends and neighbors. His abiding commitment was to take care of those he knew and loved. He did this exceedingly well throughout his rich and rewarding life. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, August 17, 2009, 7:00 p.m., at French ~ Wyoming Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 18, 2009, 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 301 S. Camino Del Pueblo, Bernalillo, NM, with Father John McKenna, Celebrant. LAW -- Miriam Law, 97, resident of Albuquerque, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2009. MCDERMOTT -- Robert F. McDermott Lt. Col (Ret), 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1997, died Friday, August 14, 2009. he is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret G.; son Joseph McDermott and daughter-in-law Diane Wandmaker from Albuquerque; granddaughter Lauren P. MEGAH -- Geneva Megah, age 77 past away on August 9, 2009 after a short illness. Geneva was born on June 10, 1932 in Tuttle Oklahoma. She had been a proud resident of Albuquerque's South Valley since 1969. She worked at Archie's for 28 years. After her retirement she was a loyal volunteer at local Senior Citizen Centers. She was an avid collector of almost anything. Her most recent interest was in stamps. She went every Monday to be with other collectors at a stamp club. She is survived by her three sons and their wives, Bennie Raymond and Laura, Keith Alan and Linda, and Randall Gene and Evelyn; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Geneva was a kind, gentle, soul who was never mean to anyone. She will be greatly missed. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday August 20, 2009 at 10:30am at the Rio Bravo Senior Citizen's Center, 3910 Isleta SW (corner of Camino de Valle & Isleta next to the South Valley Library). MURDOCK -- Ben Joseph "Joe" Murdock, age 89, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2009 at home in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, with his loving wife, Doris, and his beloved dog, Amy. Joe was born December 14, 1919, in Atlanta, GA, to Robertus W. Murdock and Ruth Murphy Murdock, with an older sister, Sarah Murdock Henry and a younger sister, Beverly Murdock Mead. Joe came from a family proudly involved with American railroads, was educated as an electrical engineer, and had a distinguished career both with the FBI and the private aerospace engineering industry. Joe served during World War II in the U.S. Army and was an avid amateur radio operator. His other hobbies included woodworking, fixing up bicycles, and frequenting donut shops and yard sales - he loved and lived life to its fullest. Joe was married on July 2, 1946 with Sara Frances DuBose Murdock, who predeceased him on July 9, 1997, and with whom he was married 51 years and raised a family of four children. Joe married Doris Walker on October 18, 2005, who was his loving partner during his later life. Joe is survived by his wife, Doris Murdock; his children, Jim Murdock (and wife Luci), Caryn Murdock, Sandra Murdock (and husband David Levin), and Joe Murdock (and partner Jane Tyroler); his step-children, Timothy Hawkins (and wife Hilda), Paul Hawkins (and wife Charlene), Susan Finale (and husband Robert), and April Sumi (and husband Jeff); his grandchildren, Michael Shane Thompson (and wife Jennifer), Shay Tyroler-Resivo, Jessica Hawkins, Esther Bowman (and husband Paul), Anna, Nicholas, and Peter Levin, Alison Murdock; his step-grandchildren Karen, Kathy, Kyra, and Michaela Hawkins, Kayla and Nathan Finale; his great grandchildren, Hunter and Dakota Thompson; his grandniece, Abby Levin; his godchildren, James, Daisy, and Lydia Chow; and his dog, Amy Murdock. PADILLA -- Antonio Jose Padilla Died at the family home on upper Canyon Road on August 11, 2009. He was 87 years old. ROLLER -- Bill Roller, formerly of Albuquerque and of Gallup, died August 8, 2009 at age 87. He was promotions director for Winrock Center for many years and the first accredited shopping center promotions director in New Mexico. He was well-known for his work in various capacities of the newspaper business, including participation in Albuquerque Press Club's annual Gridiron show. Bill served with the First Division of the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific during World War II, on Peleliu and Okinawa. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Twila; a son, Steve; and his sister, Doris. He is survived by his wife, BobAnn; children, Donna Harris, Kay Storr, Robin Dickson, and Dean Roller; his two sisters-in-law; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. VALDEZ -- Marcial Valdez, age 84, passed away in his Albuquerque home in the early morning hours of August 14, 2009. Marcial was born June 2, 1925 in Myers, NM, to Felipe (an AT&SF railroad section foreman) and Carmelita Sena Valdez. Marcial's first years were lived following the railroad with his family (e.g., in Morley, CO; and also in Maxwell, Hahn, and Hatch NM, among other places), but his family eventually settled in Bernalillo. In World War II, he served as an artilleryman in the 666th Field Artillery Battalion, Baker Battery, within the U.S. First Army, which was under the command of British Field Marshall Sir Bernard L. Montgomery. The 666th joined the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium's Ardennes Forest on December 31, 1944, crossed the Rhine into Germany on March 25. 1945, and ultimately ended up in Salzburg, Austria after the war. After his return to NM, Marcial joined Sandia Corporation and worked for more than twenty years there as an accountant. He also built his own house in Corrales and raised his family there. In 1990, Marcial retired to Green Acres Mobile Home Park in Albuquerque's North Valley. He is survived by his three children, Marc Valdez of Sacramento, CA, Michelle Browning, and Marra Valdez-Newman and husband, Ken, all of Albuquerque; his grandson Aaron Christopher Browning; his sister, Senaida Aragon of Bernalillo; and numerous other relatives and friends. Marcial's wife, Marjorie Louise Buzzell Valdez, preceded him in death in 1992. Marcial was a beloved father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The Valdez family would like to thank Harmony Home Health and Hospice, Disabled American Veterans, the dedicated health professionals at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Albuquerque, and Maxim Healthcare Services, as well as the kindness and generosity of their friends and neighbors. WALTON -- Mearl Creighton Walton passed away peacefully in Farmington, New Mexico on August 2, 2009 at the age of 91. The youngest child of Thomas and Pearl Walton. Mearl was born in Hamilton, Texas on October 23, 1917. Mearl eventually met Bettie Tennison of Dallas, Texas and they were married on Sept 25, 1943 and their only child, Tommy Mearl Walton, was born in April 1945. After serving in the Army Air Corps during WWII, the family eventually settled in Albuquerque, New Mexico where Mearl owned and operated Walton and Son Automotive Electric until selling the business to Spitzer Automotive in the late 1960s. After the sale, Mearl continued to manage the automotive and repair shop until his retirement in 1983. After retirement, Mearl kept busy working on temporary job assignments for CDK Construction as Night Watchmen on various construction sites. Mearl and Bettie remained in Albuquerque until Bettie's death in March of 2007. Shortly after, due to his own health issues, Mearl moved to Farmington, New Mexico where he lived with and was lovingly cared for by his son Tommy up until his last moments when he passed away peacefully in his sleep during the early hours of August 2nd. Mearl was loved by everyone who knew him and he leaves behind his son Tommy Mearl Walton of Farmington, NM, grandsons, Lonnie, Michael, Daylan and Tommy D. Walton; ex-daughter-in-law Martha Schrantz; and three great-grandchildren, Jason, Tyler and Kelsey Walton of Weatherford, TX; plus numerous nieces and nephews. WILHEM -- Maude Wilhem. On August 14, 2009, in the hour of early dawn, during a soft gentle rain, Maude went to be in her heavenly home. Born on January 13, 1916 in Fincastle, VA, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 64 years, Homer, two brothers, and three sisters. She is survived by her children; one son, Larry Wilhelm and his wife, Diana, of Albuquerque; four daughters, Martha Snyder, of Albuquerque, June Buford, of Magnolia, TX, Janet Clingan, of Selma, AL, and Gail Kirby and her husband, Rick, of Albuquerque; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters, of Roanoke, VA. Maude and Homer came to Albuquerque in 1948. She worked in the McCollum Elementary School cafeteria. Maude was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and helped out in the kitchen on Wednesday nights for many years. Some of her greatest gifts were her hospitality, quilting, crocheting, and cooking. She and Homer loved to travel and being "snow birds" in Blythe, CA.
