Obituary for WALTON

Mearl Creighton Walton passed away peacefully in Farmington, New Mexico on August 2, 2009 at the age of 91. The youngest child of Thomas and Pearl Walton. Mearl was born in Hamilton, Texas on October 23, 1917. Mearl eventually met Bettie Tennison of Dallas, Texas and they were married on Sept 25, 1943 and their only child, Tommy Mearl Walton, was born in April 1945. After serving in the Army Air Corps during WWII, the family eventually settled in Albuquerque, New Mexico where Mearl owned and operated Walton and Son Automotive Electric until selling the business to Spitzer Automotive in the late 1960s. After the sale, Mearl continued to manage the automotive and repair shop until his retirement in 1983. After retirement, Mearl kept busy working on temporary job assignments for CDK Construction as Night Watchmen on various construction sites. Mearl and Bettie remained in Albuquerque until Bettie's death in March of 2007. Shortly after, due to his own health issues, Mearl moved to Farmington, New Mexico where he lived with and was lovingly cared for by his son Tommy up until his last moments when he passed away peacefully in his sleep during the early hours of August 2nd. Mearl was loved by everyone who knew him and he leaves behind his son Tommy Mearl Walton of Farmington, NM, grandsons, Lonnie, Michael, Daylan and Tommy D. Walton; ex-daughter-in-law Martha Schrantz; and three great-grandchildren, Jason, Tyler and Kelsey Walton of Weatherford, TX; plus numerous nieces and nephews. Although you're gone, your life touched us all and made this world a better place to live in. Your love and your memory will always be with us until were all together again.
