Shearer, both of Albuquerque, and son, John W. of Brandon, FL; and brother, Paul Kubler of Albuquerque; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Esther M. Kubler and Leslie Kubler; and his son, R. Michael Kubler. Born in Connersville, IN on March 19, 1922, Charles was of the Greatest Generation and served honorably in the U.S. Air Force for over 27 years. His service to the country spanned the conflicts of World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam. Upon assignment to Kirtland Air Force Base in the 1950s, Charles and Betty settled in the Albuquerque area and raised their family. After retirement from the Air Force, Charles worked in the real estate and savings and loan businesses in Albuquerque where he enjoyed many great friends and colleagues. He and wife Betty moved to Hemphill, TX in 1982, but returned to Albuquerque to stay in 1991. Charles had a lifelong, passionate love of the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and motor home adventurer, accumulating many treasured experiences while traveling the U.S. with wife Betty and dog Sammy over the years. A former Air Force pilot, Charles took to piloting his motor home to visit grandchildren and other family on long road trips throughout the Midwest, East and Southeast. His can-do, independent spirit was a marvel to everyone who knew him. There was no technical challenge that eluded him and he was very generous in putting his mechanical skills to use in helping family, friends and neighbors.
