Maude Wilhem. On August 14, 2009, in the hour of early dawn, during a soft gentle rain, Maude went to be in her heavenly home. Born on January 13, 1916 in Fincastle, VA, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 64 years, Homer, two brothers, and three sisters. She is survived by her children; one son, Larry Wilhelm and his wife, Diana, of Albuquerque; four daughters, Martha Snyder, of Albuquerque, June Buford, of Magnolia, TX, Janet Clingan, of Selma, AL, and Gail Kirby and her husband, Rick, of Albuquerque; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters, of Roanoke, VA. Maude and Homer came to Albuquerque in 1948. She worked in the McCollum Elementary School cafeteria. Maude was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and helped out in the kitchen on Wednesday nights for many years. Some of her greatest gifts were her hospitality, quilting, crocheting, and cooking. She and Homer loved to travel and being "snow birds" in Blythe, CA. The family would like to give a special thanks to the owner and staff of JC Senior Care. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Lomas location, on Monday, August 17, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2009, French Mortuary, Lomas location, at 11:00 a.m., with interment following at Sunset Memorial Park.
