AGUILAR -- Tomas (Tommy) Aguilar, age 60, beloved brother was called home by our heavenly Father, Saturday, January 10, 2004. Tommy was born in Santa Fe, NM and was a resident of Bernalillo, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Flora Archuleta and Santiago and Josefita Aguilar; brothers, Ramon, Monico and Ernie Aguilar; sisters, Antonia Sanchez, Tomasita and Joseph Kroppel. Tommy is survived by his loving brothers and sisters, Aneda Aguilar, Maria (Chana) Dominguez and husband Dan of Las Cruces, NM, Desiderio (Jim) Aguilar and wife Juliette of Albuquerque, Johnny Aguilar and wife Frances of California, David Aguilar and wife Vicky of Albuquerque, Consuelo (Connie) Montoya and husband Seferino of Bernalillo, Jenny Gonzales and husband Fidel, Joe Archuleta and wife Cheryl, and Pat Archuleta; his Godparents, Eloy Calles and wife Socorro; numerous nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends. Tommy will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those who knew and loved him. Visitations will be Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A rosary will be recited this evening at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Bernalillo. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00 a.m. also at the church. BOSTICK -- Homer B. Bostick, 84, passed away on January 11, 2004. Homer was born in Mississippi to Major and Mary Bostick. Homer and Charlotte moved to Albuquerque in 1946 where he took a job with Zeon Electrical Products. He was a sign writer in Albuquerque for many years, the most memorable landmark being the Flamingo Dancer for the Terrace Drive-Inn. Homer was employed by Border Machinery and retired from Highway Supply as the General Manager. After Homer's retirement, Homer and Charlotte owned and operated CB's Contractors Services, Inc., which made them well-known in the highway construction community. Homer was a southern gentleman in every aspect of his life; in his business with people or just making Sunday supper for his family, which he loved to do. Homer and Charlotte enjoyed an active social life with their many longtime friends. Homer is preceded in death by his son W. "Sam" Bostick. Homer is survived by his living wife of 62 years, Charlotte; three children: Diane Jones, Sandra Abney, and Debra Hetes and husband, Ron; eight grandchildren: Brett and Brian Jones; Erin Abney; Ashley and Christopher Bostick; Jade, Michael and Nichole Hetes, and one great-grandson, Justyn Jones; also surviving him, his dear friend, Bessie, his dog. Homer was greatly loved by many and will be greatly missed by every one he touched. CHAVEZ -- Johnnie B. Chavez, 78, Born January 1, 1926, a lifetime resident of the Village of Los Ranchos died Saturday, January 10, 2004 after a two month struggle with complications from heart surgery. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Georgia Chavez; daughters, Loretta Smith and Yvonne Dominguez; sons, Robert and Ron Chavez; grandchildren, Kala, Tania, Christopher, Rhiannon, Dennise, Raquel, Ron, Ryan, Stephen, and Taylor; and great-grandchildren, Devin, Rosalinda, and Isabella; son-in-law, Dennis Smith and daughter-in-law, Theresa Chavez. Johnnie is also survived by brothers, Alfredo "Fecho" Chavez, Nick Chavez, Edward Chavez; and sister, Rafelita "Lita" Gallegos; and many nieces and nephews who loved him. He was preceded in death by brothers, Henry and Delfino Chavez. Johnnie was a member of an Historic New Mexico Hispanic family that has roots dating back to the late 1600s in Albuquerque's north valley. He served in the infantry during World War II, was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart. Johnnie worked most of his career as an Ironworker in local 495. Johnnie was an avid golfer and active member of Ladera and Yellow Freight golf associations, helping organize countless benefit tournaments aiding distressed families. Johnnie continually kept active in his retirement by his interest in computers, building and donating many to friends and family. He was loved by all and would always bring smiles to those he came in contact with. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. May he now join the Lord and his deceased friends, "Cheo" and Ernie, in a heavenly eternal 18! A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 9502 4th Street NW at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2004 at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. DUVALL -- Clara M DuVall, 82, a former resident of Corrales, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2004 in Rio Rancho. Clara was born October 24, 1921 the daughter of Vicente Lovato and Annie Wolford Montano in Pueblo, Colorado. She came to New Mexico from Sacramento, California. She had been a member of the St. Bernadette Alter Rosary Society. Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Harry A. DuVall in 1982. FREEBY -- Cecil M. Freeby, 89, a longtime resident of Gallup, New Mexico, died in Albuquerque on Saturday, January 10, 2004 at the age of 89. A native of Mankato, Kansas, he was born to John and Cecilia Barta Freeby on October 26, 1914. He first went to Gallup in 1936 to live with his sister, Mrs. Peggy Rooney. After serving in the Pacific Front during WWII, he returned to Gallup in 1945. There he met and married his wife of 57 years, Mary Catgenova, who passed away in April, 2003. Together they had three sons, Robert of Tacoma, WA, Richard of Albuquerque, NM and Roger of Denver, CO. He is also survived by his younger sister, Marjorie Wilson of Sweet Home, OR; four grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Peggy, June and Fern; and brothers, William, Wyman, Jesse Leonard and Jimmy. Mr. Freeby had long been an active member of the Gallup Elks Club, the Principe Luigi Lodge, the VFW and DAV. He lived in Albuquerque, NM since October, 2001 where he had moved to be closer to his beloved wife, then a resident in a healthcare facility there. GRIFFITH -- Violet Lillian Reda Griffith, a resident of Albuquerque since 1961, was called home by our Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 11, 2004. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, she passed on peacefully at the family home. Violet was born in Lindrith, NM on March 9, 1928, and moved with her family to northern California where she met her future husband, William Leonard Griffith. During their 56 years of marriage, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, home maker, friend to many, dedicated Sunday School teacher and active member of the East Gate Foursquare Gospel Church. HAWKINS -- Marilyn Shirley Hawkins passed away suddenly at her home on January 9, 2004, where she lovingly cared for her disabled husband. She was 72 years old. KNIGHT -- William F. Knight, 75, of Gallup, NM, died Saturday, January 10, 2004. He was born June 24, 1928 in Albuquerque, NM. He was a Veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War. A member of the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Gallup, New Mexico, and a Life member of the Elks Lodge and the Knights of Columbus Lodge #1783 and the Gallup Bowlers Association. KUCK -- Aileen B. Kuck, 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 12, 2004. Members of her family and many of her friends surrounded her in her final days. Aileen, a resident of Albuquerque since 1955, was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eilert. KUEHNER -- Joseph Kuehner, Sr., 81, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2004. A resident of Rio Rancho since 1981. Joe was born February 24, 1922 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, one of ten children. Joe was raised in a Roman Catholic home and remained a devout Catholic his entire life. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho. He served in combat as a Marine in WWII in the Pacific Theater. Only later in life did he relate some of the harrowing and humorous experiences of being a tail gunner on a dive bombing airplane and how he and the pilot mistook a whale for a submarine with disastrous consequences. Joe was a passionate and accomplished bowler and helped organize a bowling league in the Rio Rancho area. He was involved in many worthwhile activities that benefited the community. Joe was especially devoted to his wife and missed her terribly. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Genevieve in 2002, and one son, Gordon Paul. Joe is survived by his son, Joseph Jr. and wife, Marcia; daughter, Carol Ford and husband, Mark; two grandsons, Neil and Sean McIntyre; three brothers, Monsignor Ralph, Edward, and Francis. His family will miss him dearly. LAEDLEIN -- John "Jack" Edward Laedlein, 88, a resident of Bosque Farms, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2004. Jack was born April 29, 1915. He was raised in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. After high school graduation, he attended the Pennsylvania Nautical School and graduated with a 2nd Mates License. He was inducted into the US Army at the start of WW II then transferred and served as an officer in the US Navy until the end of WW II. After the war he studied Transportation and Traffic Management and Rates which he later taught at Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn, MI while working for the Detroit Chamber of Commerce in the Transportation and Traffic Department. He went on to earn his certification to practice Transportation Law before the ICC Board. Jack moved to New Mexico in 1974 to work at the Grants Anaconda Mill Site in Transportation and Traffic Control. He retired to Bosque Farms in 1982. Jack is survived by his wife of 53 years, Enid Laedlein of Bosque Farms; one brother, Frank Laedlein; and one sister, Pearl Laedlein, both of Williamsport, PA; three nieces and three nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Assembly of God Church, North Bosque Loop and Ranchero Road, Bosque Farms with Fr. Bob Bryan officiating. LAUFFENBURGER -- Arthur Leo Lauffenburger died Saturday, January 10, 2004 from complications of cancer. He was born February 6, 1932 in Pasadena, CA and moved to San Francisco Bay area in 1945. After graduating from high school and junior college he enlisted in the USN during the Korean conflict where he was stationed aboard the submarine USS Cusk. Following his service enlistment he returned to work at GTE Lenkurt, married his high school sweetheart and settled in Redwood City to raise his family of three children. His 35 year dedication advanced him from a production worker to a manufacturing manager where he was transferred to Albuquerque in 1972. He was a 32nd degree mason and an avid sportsman, with a passion for hunting, fishing, motorcycling, flying and tennis. An early retirement enabled him to enjoy motorcycling, both dirt and touring, servicing BMW motorcycles and a day did not go by without a game of tennis. He is preceded in death by his son, Arthur; and daughter, Sarah. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patricia; daughter, Winnie and her husband, Glen Comyford; grandson, Justin Comyford; granddaughter, Brandy Crowder and her husband, Nathan. He was a wonderful friend and a caring person who was always there to help others. He left a legacy of wonderful and happy memories and will be missed by all that knew him. Cremation has taken place and at his request, a gathering will be held in his honor at the family home January 25, 2004 at 1:00 p.m.

LAUSER -- Kent E. Lauser, 87, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, January 11, 2004. Kent grew up in Wilton Jct., Iowa. As a young man, he helped build the Clarksville Dam on the Mississippi River with the CCC. He joined the Army Air Corps during WWII and, while stationed at KAFB, met his wife, Marta. They raised their five children in Albuquerque's North Valley. Kent worked for the US Postal Service, retiring in 1973. He then built a unique, beautiful house in Ponderosa, NM, living there with Marta from 1981 until recently. Kent was a loving, generous family man whose life was characterized by hard work, faithfulness, goodness, honesty and unselfish, practical service to others. He loved to sing and had a wonderful sense of humor. A longtime member of Harwood Methodist Church, he faithfully sang in the choir for over thirty years. After moving to Ponderosa, Kent was active in community affairs, serving as president of the Ponderosa Community Water Board for over ten years. He enjoyed working and fishing outdoors, artistic painting, and was a resourceful handyman, inventing creative solutions to "fixer-upper" problems. Kent is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marta; sisters, Harriet Jensen and Miriam Sanson; children, Kenna del Sol, Linda Hunter and Don Lauser; grandchildren, Tony Jarvis, Markom and Ariel Jones, Ohnah Brown, Jedediah and Austin Holler; and great-grandchildren, Akira and Alexis. He was preceded in death by his children, Sue and Francis Dean Lauser. A Memorial Service and reception will be held Friday, January 16, 2004, 10:00 a.m., at Jemez Valley Baptist Church, 8294 NM Hwy. 4, Canon, NM. Go north on Hwy.4, 8.1 mi. from the San Ysidro turnoff from Hwy. 550. LEACH -- F. Clayton Leach, 99, beloved father and grandfather and renowned musician, dies 60 days before his 100th birthday. He was born on March 2, 1904 and passed away on January 8, 2004. Clayton was preceded in death by his wife, Olive M. Leach. He is survived by his sister, Helen Williams of Cleveland, OH; daughters, Jane Frankenfield of Albuquerque, Elizabeth Martini and husband, Ralph of Mackay, Idaho; sons, Fred Leach and wife, Bobbie of Albuquerque, and Leslie Leach of Farmington, NM; 11 grandchildren; and 23 2/ 3 great grandchildren. "Clayt" is best known locally where he played nightly at Shakey's Pizza Parlor for seven years in the 1960's. He played banjo, trumpet, and sousaphone for over 85 years. He played 30 years in the Albuquerque area with the City Band, and the Ballut Abyad Shrine Concert and Jazz Bands. He performed on the east coast and here in the southwest with many concert, jazz and dance bands. He was a Past Master of Satucket Lodge AF & AM in East Bridgewater, MA. He was a member of the choir at La Mesa Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque, the Rio Grande Jazz Society, and the York Rite Masonic Order. Clayt retired from APS as a maintenance engineer at Manzano High School. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2004, at 1:00 p.m. at La Mesa Presbyterian Church, 7401 Copper NE. A reception will follow in the church parlor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Shriner's Burn Center through Ballut Abyad Shrine and in Clayton's name. LUGO -- Cruz Huerta Lugo was born June 2, 1919 in Chiso, Texas. He married and raised his family in Artesia, New Mexico, and came to Albuquerque in 1971. He left to be with our Lord on Saturday, January 10, 2004. His eldest daughter, Esther Lugo, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret Lugo; four daughters and two sons: Delfina L. Rodriguez and husband, Dolores, Narciso Lugo and wife, Alice, Sally L. Baca and husband, Antonio, Elisa L. Garcia and husband, Douglas, Danny Lugo and wife, Lillian, and Sara Cline and husband, David, 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. LUJAN -- Adrian J. Lujan, 27, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque went home to be with the Lord on January 10, 2004. He was born on December 17, 1976 in Las Vegas, New Mexico. He is survived by his wife, Maria Lujan; daughters, Brittany and Raelynn Lujan; sisters, Lori and Lisa Lujan; father, Fernando Lujan and mother, Senaida Lucero and fiance Israel Gomez. MEDINA -- Rafael Raul Medina, 42, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died on January 13, 2004. RITZ -- Cleo Ritz, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died on Friday, January 9, 2004. Cleo was the devoted wife of Charles Ritz, who preceded her in death in 1993. She was a dedicated worker for the Clinton P. Anderson Agency and then Mountain States Mutual Casualty Company. She enjoyed gardening. Cleo is survived by her sister-in-law, Maxine Lord of Tiburon, CA; 5 nieces and nephews; 5 grand nieces and nephews; and many close friends. SCHLIEBE -- Vivian Gertrude Schliebe, 90, died Saturday, January 10, 2004 at Laurel View Home. She is survived by her husband, Martin of Rio Rancho; daughter, Trudy Mozee and husband, Elliott of Corrales; son, Frederick W. Johnson and wife, Shirley of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Benjamin, Gayle, Bradley, Janine, Jeffrey and Melanie; and 11 great-grandchildren. Born in Chicago to parents Albert and Gertrude Huseby on September 7, 1913, Vivian graduated from Morton Junior College and then attended Grinnell College. A resident of the local area for sixty years, she was active in a number of local and national organizations. She was noted for her gregarious nature and had a multitude of friends who will sorely miss her. Predeceasing Vivian were husbands, C.F. Brown and B.H. Johnson as well as son, Bruce J. SIGERSON -- William Carlyle Sigerson, 84, died on January 9, 2004, from complications of Parkinson's disease. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1919, Bill graduated from Harvard College and Yale Law School. He served as a naval intelligence officer in World War II and in the Korean War, retiring from the Naval Reserve with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. As a corporate attorney for pharmaceutical companies in New Jersey and New York, he specialized in international licensing of patents and trademarks, a career which gave him the happy opportunity of extensive foreign travel. His lifelong avocation was the playing of classical piano works; though he never thought himself skilled enough to perform in public, his music-making was always a joy to his family and friends. On retiring to Albuquerque in 1989, Bill studied Western history at the University of New Mexico, and was an active volunteer with the Friends for the Public Library, where he was especially valued for his ability to assess donated books in several foreign languages. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruth Webb Sigerson, whom he met and married when both were students at the Navy Japanese Language School in Boulder, Colorado during the Second World War; also by a daughter, Mariana Kano, and son-in-law Haruo Kano, and two grandsons, William Rodrigo and Richard Santiago Kano, of Cuernavaca, Mexico; a son, John Sigerson, and his wife Renee of Leesburg, Virginia; a brother, David K. Sigerson of Ormond Beach, Florida; and several in-laws, nephews, and nieces. At his request, he will be interred in the National Cemetery at Santa Fe, with no formal funeral services. ZAMORA -- June Zamora, age 71, beloved mother, grandmother, was called home by our heavenly Father, Monday, January 12, 2004, while surrounded by her loving family. June was a longtime resident of the village of Los Ranchos. She was a wonderful person with a heart of gold. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Zamora; and by a grandson, Joseph Zamora. June is survived by her loving sons, Joseph Zamora and wife, Darlene, Frank Zamora, Jr. and wife, Theresa; daughter-in-law, Loretta Zamora; her precious grandchildren, Robert Zamora, Jolene Calderon and husband, Randall, Elisha Vigil and husband, Robert, and Nadine Zamora; great-grandchildren, Mariah, Justin, Diego, Randy Jr., Calderon, and Izaea Vigil.
