Violet Lillian Reda Griffith, a resident of Albuquerque since 1961, was called home by our Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 11, 2004. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, she passed on peacefully at the family home. Violet was born in Lindrith, NM on March 9, 1928, and moved with her family to northern California where she met her future husband, William Leonard Griffith. During their 56 years of marriage, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, home maker, friend to many, dedicated Sunday School teacher and active member of the East Gate Foursquare Gospel Church. Violet is survived by her beloved husband, Leonard Griffith; loving son, Bill Griffith, Jr. and his wife, Gayle; adoring daughter, Shirley Griffith; grandson, Michael Ferree, all of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Janice Rogers and husband, Bob of Yellville, AR; grandson, Jason Ferree and wife, Jeanette of Austin, TX; great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Alex Ferree of Austin, TX; Violet’s sisters and their husbands, Fern and Don Pollard of Rio Dell , CA; Molly and Elden Cathey of McKinleyville, CA; Doris and David Kenney of Willow Creek, CA; her brothers and their wives, Bill and Carol Truby of Sandpoint, ID; Bob Truby of Mad River, Ca; Bud and Cindi Truby of Albuquerque, NM; her aunts and uncles, Elmer and Marie Truby of La Plata, NM; Judy Ternes of Farmington, NM and Duke Manning of Poughkeepsie, NY; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws whom she loved very much. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, William and Isabelle Truby, and brothers, Al and Neal Truby. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2004 at 10:00 am at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, Albuquerque, NM. Interment will take place that afternoon at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Monetary memorials are being accepted in her name by Loving Hands of Hospice, 5403 Gibson Blvd. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
