Austin -- William Sanford Austin III, passed away June 27, 2002 in Albuquerque, NM. He is survived by his sons; Brad and Gary Austin. Bill was a proud veteran who served his country in the United States Air Force and lived his life with pride and dignity. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him. Baca -- Ina V. Baca, 93, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, June 28, 2002. Baca -- Larry Steven Baca, 50, passed on June 24, 2002. He was preceded in death by his brother, Willie B. Baca. Larry is survived by his daughter, Renee Baca and fiancé, David Jaramillo; son, Zachary Coffey; parents, Willie and Eva Baca; brother, Michael Baca; sisters, Christina Caraveo, Patricia Daniel, Kathleen Gallegos and husband, Geno; many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved and will miss him. Brasuel -- Murphy Brasuel, 59, was called home to the Lord on Thursday, June 27, 2002. Murphy was born on October 8, 1942, in Santa Fe, NM, and was a lifelong resident of Cuba, NM, where Murphy was previously a member of the City Council, School Board and Mayor. He was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was on the parish council. Murphy is preceded in death by his father, Leonard Brasuel. He is survived by; his loving wife of 31 years, Margaret Brasuel; children, Murphy Brasuel and wife, Cristina, and Ana Lucero and husband, Chris; mother, Margery Brasuel; grandsons, Leonard Alexander Brasuel, Murphy Luis Maximums Brasuel, Christopher Murphy Lucero, and Michael Richard Lucero. Also surviving; are a brother, Leonard Brasuel; sister, Mary Ethel Foley; and sister/mother-in-law, Irene Martinez. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. A rosary will be recited Monday July 1, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cuba, NM. Davis -- Nancy Davis, age 47, died Friday, May 3, 2002 in Montrose, CO after a courageous four year battle with cancer. Nancy had lived with her family in Montrose since 1988. Nancy was born on May 29, 1954 in Albuquerque. Her parents were Ange and Katherine Tertipes. She spent her childhood in Albuquerque where she graduated from Sandia High School. She attended the University of New Mexico, where she received a BA in Architecture in 1978. She worked for W.C. Kruger & Associates and at the Veterans Administration Hospital. She became an accomplished interior designer. Her work can be seen in the interiors of the VA Hospital and the Chapel of St. Joseph's Hospital. In December of 1985, she married Ken Davis in Albuquerque. Nancy, husband, Ken and their one-year-old son, Cody moved to Montrose in 1988. A second son, Evan, was born in 1994. Nancy was a homemaker, teacher, and businesswoman and was an active member of Montrose's Christian community. Survivors include her parents, Ange and Katherine Tertipes of Montrose, CO; her sister, Jane Bennett of Ridgway, CO; her husband, Ken; and sons, Cody and Evan. A celebration of Nancy's life took place on May 8, 2002 at Montrose Christian Church. Dominguez -- Michael (Bucky) Dominguez, 52, lifelong resident of Bernalillo, NM was called home to the Lord, June 27, 2002. Michael was born on May 16, 1950, in Bernalillo. Michael was a loving and supportive husband, father, tata, son, brother and friend. Michael enjoyed playing with his grandkids and spoiling his girls. He loved eating his wife Carmen's home cooking and drinking coffee with his mom on Saturday mornings. Michael enjoyed spending time in his garage and working on his '50 Chevy. Michael worked hard but also liked relaxing at home, listening to music and spending time with friends. He was a Dallas Cowboys fan. Michael is preceded in death by; his father, Willie Dominguez; and brother, Ernie Dominguez. He is survived by; his loving wife of 32 years, Carmen; children, Missy Montoya and husband, Vince, Stacey Torres and husband, Edward III, and Nichole Chavez and husband, Santiago; mother, Laura Dominguez; grandchildren, Edward Torres IV, Zachary Torres, and Santino Chavez. Also surviving; are brothers and sisters, Gloria Barros, Martin Dominguez, Patsy Lovato, Debbie Dominguez, James Dominguez, and Gabriel Dominguez. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. Driskell -- Lisa Marie Driskell, age 36, of Placitas, died after a sudden illness on Thursday, June 27, 2002. Her father, David Driskell preceded her in death. She is survived by her partner, Stayce Driskell; and their 7-month-old daughter, Lilyan Grace; mother, Joan Farnum and stepfather, Gene of Santa Fe; sister, Juniper Stein and husband, Geoffrey of Tesuque; stepsister, Rebecca Hamilton and husband, Gregg of Albuquerque; stepbrother, Martin Farnum of Albuquerque; nephews, Wyatt Stein and Reese Hamilton; and niece, Naomi Williams. Her partner is supported during this time of grief by her parents, Dan and Camellia Vistica; and sisters, Danielle and Devin, all of Portland, Oregon. Lisa graduated from Los Alamos High School and the University of New Mexico. She was employed by the University of New Mexico as a Career Works Job Services Division Leader. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Unitarian Church in Albuquerque at the Southwest corner of Carlisle and Comanche NE. Fink -- Merle D. Fink, U.S. Army, retired, age 74, a resident of Albuquerque for 30 years passed away quietly in his home on June 19, 2002. He is preceded in death by his wife, Kiyoko Fink, who passed away May 2001. He is survived by his loving son, Jay Fink; ex-daughters-in-law, Margaret Fink and Janet; grandchildren, JayLene Fink, Jayson Fink of Albuquerque and Johnnathon of Roswell; sisters-in-law, Viola Blaney of Loveland, CO, Marna Fujimoto, Mey Miura and Homi Miura of San Leandro, CA, H.E. Miura of Sacramento, CA; brother-in-law, Hiro Fujimoto of San Leandro, CA. He was a Vietnam Veteran spending three tours in Vietnam, one tour in France and one tour in Germany. He moved to Albuquerque in 1972 where he was a sanitation engineer at the VA Hospital until 1986. He will be remembered in loving thoughts and memories by all who knew him. Freiwald -- Dr. David A. Freiwald, 61, a long-term resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, June 25, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Freiwald of Albuquerque; sons, Wes Freiwald and wife, June of Maui, HI, Todd Freiwald and wife, Wendy of Germantown, MD, and Chris Freiwald of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Jake, Ryan, Scott, and Megan, all of Germantown, MD; sister, Carol Grubb and husband, Don of Solon, Ohio; and Joyce's family here in New Mexico. Dr. Freiwald received his B.S. in 1963 and his Ph.D in 1968 from Northwestern University. He worked at Sandia National Laboratories from 1967 to 1973, and at Los Alamos National Laboratories from 1973 to 1981, part of that time in the Director's Office. In 1987 to 1991, he was director and general manager of General Dynamics Laser Systems Laboratory in San Diego, CA. Dr. Freiwald has been recognized in numerous Who's Who including the Marquis"Who's Who in Frontier Science and Technology, Marquis"Who's Who in Science and Engineering," Marquis"Who's Who in the World". He has served as President of the New Mexico Academy of Science. Other organizations and awards include, Tau Beta Pi, Pi Tau Sigma, and Sigma Xi. He was widely recognized for being innovative and had numerous patents. He was internationally respected and recognized as a leader in laser technology and defense systems, and contributed in plasma and shock wave physics. Goggin -- Pauline Ruth Goggin, 92, a resident of Boulder, CO since 1997, died Friday, June 28, 2002. She is survived by her son, John Goggin of Boulder, CO. Pauline was born in the Territory of New Mexico in a dirt floor dugout lean-to. She married John R. Goggin in 1948 in Roswell, NM. John preceded her in death in 1987. Pauline formerly lived in Roswell and Albuquerque, NM. She was a former resident of Golden West Manor of Boulder and the Boulder Good Samaritan Center. She was a retired homemaker and child evangelist teacher from l960 to 1980. She was very active in her church and attended Southern Baptist and Pentecostal Church, was a member of the Child Evangelism Association (preaches the Word of the Lord to children), was a Sunday school teacher, and taped children's Bible stories for radio which were broadcast throughout the United States and the Caribbean. ¯Her religious faith was her hobby. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2002, at 10:00 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE in Albuquerque, NM. Granillo -- Isabel"Kitty" Granillo. After a brave and courageous battle with cancer, Kitty has taken God's hand and is now in heaven with her loved ones. She is survived by her husband, Leo; son, Luis and his wife, Kathy; son, Raymond; and grandchildren, Grace and Justin all of Albuquerque; mother, Elena Diaz of Las Cruces; brothers, David, Bobby, Manuel, Gilbert, Ruben and Danny, of Las Cruces; sisters, Virginia Maldonado (Dallas, Texas), and Irma Padilla (San Francisco, California); numerous nieces and nephews. Herrera -- Jose Herrera Y Paz went home to our Lord Thursday morning, June 27, 2002 at the young age of 103 years old. He is preceded in death by his son, David Herrera; and grandson, David Barela. He was a lifelong resident of Carnuel, NM. He is survived by his daughter, Tomasita H. Valdez; his son, Ben Herrera and his grandson, whom he raised, Augustine Herrera, and wife, Stella; sisters, Josie Griego of Albuquerque, Avelina Abeyta of Oakland, CA, Mela Garcia of Oakland, CA; grandchildren, Melly Garcia and wife, Josie, Eloy Garcia, and Vicki Bautista; 15 great-grandchildren; 27 great-great-grandchildren; four great-great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. We were very fortunate to have six generations. He lived through three centuries. Grandpa was loved very much by his family and friends. We all enjoyed listening to his stories of the good old days. Rosary will be Sunday, June 30, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Child Parish in Carnuel, NM and Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, July 1, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Child Parish in Carnuel. Jenkins -- Walter Edward Jenkins went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, June 27, 2002. He was born August 6, 1924, in West Virginia, but resided most of his life in Tulsa, OK. Mr. Jenkins is survived by his wife, Anita Jenkins of Rio Rancho; children, Barbara Jenkins of Chicago, IL, Cheryl Lueck and husband, Gary of Albuquerque, Judy Jenkins-Goforth and husband, Ray of Tulsa, OK; Bryant Roberson and wife, Kristin of Rio Rancho, Stacy Johnson and husband, Robby of Tulsa, OK; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Jenkins of Rio Rancho and Ed Jenkins of Chuluota, FL; and sisters, Margarite Huntsberry of Albuquerque and Betty Lou Miller of Atlanta, GA. He retired from Amoco Oil Company where he was a research Glassblower prior to his move to Rio Rancho to retire. Mr. Jenkins served in the Navy in WWII as a bombardier earning numerous commendations. Lang -- Ernest Joseph, Lang Jr. was born June 7, 1922 and passed away just six days before his 80th birthday, on June 1, 2002. Ernie worked on the Manhattan Project during WWII as a chemist, and was involved in early radiation experimentation, and was accidentally burned with gamma radiation in the South Pacific. His cremains will be interred July 1, 3:00 p.m., at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Ernie is survived by his wife, Helen; son, David; daughters, Michele and Carolyn; and four grandchildren. During his later years, he did oral reading and recording for the blind. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.

Latimer -- Ken M. Latimer,"Mack", age 82, was born January 10, 1920 and died in his sleep June 20, 2002 after a long illness. He will be remembered as a vibrant and lively man that served as a crossing guard for many years. Ken will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his ex-wife, Dorothy; their children Ronald, Robert, William and Elizabeth; grandchildren, Angela, Gregory, Michael, Jennifer, Stephanie, Chris, Kathy and Maribeth; and great-grandchildren, Sherilyn, Savannah and Briana. Lowenstein -- Dr. (COL.) Bernard Lowenstein (Ret.), a veteran of the U.S. Army, 94, passed away June 26, 2002. Born in 1908, Dr. Lowenstein was raised in Manhattan, New York. He then went on to go to medical school at University of California in Berkley/San Francisco, obtaining his M.D. in 1933 and joining the U.S. Army Medical Reserve as a First Lieutenant, with his devoted wife, Bonnie, who devotedly supported him. Wishing to go into obstetrics he applied for one of seven positions nationwide that year in the Corps. Unfortunately, he was not awarded one of the positions, instead becoming a physician with the Civilian Conservation Corps. While in that position, he was assigned to posts in northern California, Montana, and southwest Utah. He then joined the US Indian Service in 1936 and was assigned to the Standing Rock Reservation in South Dakota for 2 years. In 1938 he was transferred to the Indian Hospital in Rapid City and obtained comprehensive training in pulmonary/chest medicine, which would then become his ultimate specialty. In 1941 he was recalled to active duty going to Randolph Field in San Antonio for flight surgeon training. In 1942 he came to Albuquerque, then on to Glendale, Arizona, Italy, Corsica, Frank and Germany. In 1946, as a Lt. Colonel he left active duty and rejoined the USIS in Shawnee, Oklahoma. In 1952, another career choice brought him back to Albuquerque to the VA Medical Center. He was with the VAMC as a chest/pulmonary specialist until 1966 when he chose to retire because the VA denied 2 months off for a cruise he and his wife had long cherished. Upon returning he joined the staff at University Medical School and was contracted back to the VA as a Chest Film Specialist until health problems forced him to retire again in 1988. His wife, Bonnie, preceded him in death in 1992. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Cremation has taken place and services are not planned at this time. Marr -- Irma Dean Marr, age 62, our beloved and caring mother, grandmother, and friend died suddenly and unexpectedly at Lovelace Hospital on Wednesday, June 26, 2002 at 4:50 p.m. Irma was born and raised on a small farm near County Line, OK. She married her pen pal, Sammy Hank Marr in 1956 and moved to Vacaville, CA to live in the house that Sammy built. Over the next 46 years together they raised their four children and lived in Fairfield, CA, Clovis, NM, Duncan, OK, Alamogordo, NM and finally settled in Albuquerque in 1976 when Sammy was transferred to Kirtland AFB. Irma was a quiet wife and devoted homemaker who would do anything for her children and grandchildren. She stayed by her husband's side and cared for him until he passed away from prostate cancer. She was full of life and love and her sudden passing six days after her husband's death is a shock to all who knew her. She will be loved and missed forever by her son, Ron and his two children, Brian and Ben; son, Jerry and wife, Mila of Los Angeles; her daughter, Debbie La Pierre and her husband, Chris; her daughter, Brenda Guzman and her husband, Gabe of Boston; and her dearest friend, Due Moore III of Bosque Farms. Cremation and arrangements are being made by the Sunrise Society of New Mexico, 2111 Wyoming NE in Albuquerque, 891-2000. It was her wish that no services be held. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mccauley -- Helen L. McCauley, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1923, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2002. She is survived by her brother, Jack Burt and wife, Doreen of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Marguriete Burt of Denver, CO; brother-in-law, Ergeal Brown of Albuquerque; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Jack McCauley; four brothers, Orville, Carl, Don and Ray; and two sisters, Dorothy and Jean. She had a zest for life and was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need. Helen loved to play golf and enjoyed the outdoors. She won many blue ribbons at the State Fair for her candy. Mcnaney -- Leo"Lee" F. McNaney died June 23, 2002, at the age of 63 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by a brother, Robert McNaney and wife, Janet; daughter, Maureen McNaney and husband, Jeff Shapusas; son, Timothy McNaney and wife, Julia; grandson, Matthew McNaney; four nephews and two nieces; and special friend, Michele Lombard. Lee was born in River Forest, Illinois on November 8, 1938, and had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1976. Lee had a large family of friends at the Tennis Club of Albuquerque, of which he was a member for many years. Nichols -- David L. Nichols, 53, passed away peacefully at his home in Santa Fe on June 19, 2002. He was born on November 25, 1948 in Pampa, TX to A.D. and Jewel Sanders Nichols who preceded him in death; along with his beloved grandmother, Zora Sanders. In 1951, the family moved to Albuquerque. David graduated from Rio Grande High School in 1966. He later served his country in the U.S. Air Force. David moved to Denver, CO in 1973 where he graduated from Metropolitan State College in 1979. David was self-employed doing tenant finish through his company Kiva Enterprises. For the past ten years, David travelled the country as a construction superintendent, the last four years with Nova Construction of Bristol, PA. David supervised projects from New York to California to Florida and states in between. he enjoyed his work and the challenges it brought, along with the opportunity it gave him to travel and discover the historic sights of America. His passion fro trout fishing in Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico was surpassed only by his love of deep sea fishing in Costa Rica, Florida, Hawaii and off the Carolinas and California. David returned to his beloved state of New Mexico in 2000 to live in Santa Fe. He leaves his sons, Rory Nichols of Ft. Collins, CO and Jared Nichols of Frisco, CO; brother, Bruce Nichols and his wife, Cheryl and niece, Jessica Nichols of Aurora, CO; sister, Dee Ann Butler, her husband, Mike and nephews, Aaron and Kevin Butler of Rio Rancho, NM; aunts, uncles and cousins in Stratford and Levelland, TX. David never met a stranger and his wonderful sense of humor will be greatly missed by his co-workers, many friends, and loving family, but most importantly by his companion and best friend, Ellen Marie Arias, of Santa Fe. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of David's life is being planned for a future date.

Poindexter -- James William Poindexter, age 50, died in Albuquerque, NM on June 19, 2002. He was born in Anadarko, OK to Billy Ray and Gloria Glover Poindexter and moved from Granite, OK to Albuquerque in 1957. Mr. Poindexter was a jewelry designer and artist who loved to travel, especially in the West and Southwest regions. He painted and drew in the Zuni Southwest style in the mediums of acrylic and watercolor. He loved the outdoors and was a avid gardener with a definite"green thumb". He had a real fondness for all types of animals and especially enjoyed riding horses. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Ray Poindexter in 1969; and by his mother, Gloria Poindexter in 1987. He is survived by a son, James C."Jay"; three brothers, Forrest R. Rodriguez -- Manuel L. (Manny) Rodriguez, Sr. passed away on June 25, 2002. He moved to Albuquerque from Artesia in 1975 to be near his family. Locally he was a part-time house painter in his latter years. Born in El Paso, TX on January 2, 1914, he was raised in Carlsbad, NM. He married Natividad Baca on August 5, 1933. As an adult living in Artesia, NM, Manuel served as a policeman and owned several businesses. Manuel is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years; a sister; a son; and three daughters; and by a large family that extends to the fifth generation. Mr. Rubi was a member of the Catholic Church, was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and as a Sergeant served proudly during the Vietnam Era and was a recipient of the Bronze Star with the"V" device for heroism. He attended the University of NM School of Architecture and received his Bachelor of Arts in 1972. Since 1987, Mr. Rubi has served as President of R & H Associates Inc., an Environmental Consulting Firm. He was also an avid fan of Golf. Sanchez -- Deluvina"Dell" C. Sanchez, 76, was born in Albuq. on June 16, 1926. She went home to be with the Lord on June 27, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, frank A. Suhr -- Dora N. Suhr, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1924, died in her home in the company of her children Thursday, June 27, 2002 after an illness. Wohrer -- Walter Carl Wohrer, beloved husband, father, son and friend, died suddenly on June 19, 2002.
