Nichols -- David L. Nichols, 53, passed away peacefully at his home in Santa Fe on June 19, 2002. He was born on November 25, 1948 in Pampa, TX to A.D. and Jewel Sanders Nichols who preceded him in death; along with his beloved grandmother, Zora Sanders. In 1951, the family moved to Albuquerque. David graduated from Rio Grande High School in 1966. He later served his country in the U.S. Air Force. David moved to Denver, CO in 1973 where he graduated from Metropolitan State College in 1979. David was self-employed doing tenant finish through his company Kiva Enterprises. For the past ten years, David travelled the country as a construction superintendent, the last four years with Nova Construction of Bristol, PA. David supervised projects from New York to California to Florida and states in between. he enjoyed his work and the challenges it brought, along with the opportunity it gave him to travel and discover the historic sights of America. His passion fro trout fishing in Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico was surpassed only by his love of deep sea fishing in Costa Rica, Florida, Hawaii and off the Carolinas and California. David returned to his beloved state of New Mexico in 2000 to live in Santa Fe. He leaves his sons, Rory Nichols of Ft. Collins, CO and Jared Nichols of Frisco, CO; brother, Bruce Nichols and his wife, Cheryl and niece, Jessica Nichols of Aurora, CO; sister, Dee Ann Butler, her husband, Mike and nephews, Aaron and Kevin Butler of Rio Rancho, NM; aunts, uncles and cousins in Stratford and Levelland, TX. David never met a stranger and his wonderful sense of humor will be greatly missed by his co-workers, many friends, and loving family, but most importantly by his companion and best friend, Ellen Marie Arias, of Santa Fe. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of David's life is being planned for a future date.
